West Cuba

Explore Cuba’s’ beautiful West coast of Cuba; from Havana to Pinar del Río and Viñales, this 7Day tour will give you the chance to explore the historical centre of Havana, with its narrow streets and charming squares, visit the Pinar del Río region and the Viñales valley, famed for its superb scenery. The tour also includes time for you to relax on the Caribbean beach of Cayo Jutías, a small island and take an excursion to Río Canimar as well as spending time in beautiful Varadero.

Itinerary 
Day 1: Arrive Havana

Upon arrival into Havana you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Havana

After breakfast, enjoy on a historical sightseeing tour of Old Havana, stating in the centre of the city, this tour will take you to see wonderful squares, museum and streets that the city has to offer, continue by visiting the Rum Museum at Havana Club and finish off with a Welcome dinner in an old town restaurant.

Day 3: Pinar Del Rio & Viñales

After breakfast we head towards Pinar del Rio where we will visit a tobacco factory along the way, which is famous for the best tobacco in the world. We continue travelling to Viñales a charming town; its surrounding tobacco plantations and the strange hill-peaks (mogotes) are typical for this region, make it an impressive sight. Lunch will be served at one of the local restaurants. Late in the afternoon, arrive at Hotel Rancho San Vicente, where you can enjoy the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere of the country-side and take a swim in the hotel’s pool.

Day 4: Cayo Jutías

Today excursion will take you to the beaches of Cayo Jutías – A small island on the north coast that is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Here you will have the chance to relax on the beautiful Caribbean beach with crystal-clear turquoise water and where lunch will be served. In the afternoon you can enjoy the fantastic scenery of the Cuban West coast on your way back to the Hotel.

Day 5: Las Terrazas & Soroa

After breakfast, travel to Las Terrazas for a sightseeing tour through the community and the enchanting Sierra de Rosario – the first Cuban biosphere reserve recognized by UNESCO. Get a glimpse into the typical handicraft and artist workshops or to visit the ruins of Cafetales Franceses, a French coffee plantation from the 18th century. Lunch will be served at one of the local restaurant and later you can relax by the crystal-clear waters of Rio San Juan before visiting the t the orchid garden of Soroa, the Orquideario de Soroa where more than 25,000 orchid species-including other ornamental plants, trees and flowers live.

Day 6: Rio Canimar & Varadero

This morning we travel to Río Canimar by boat through the fascinating and slow-moving river. Lunch will be served at La Arboleda restaurant situated 11 km up the stream. In the afternoon enjoy a swim or go horseback riding. Return to the pier as we continue to Varadero.

Itinerary 
Day 1: Arrive in Havana

On arrival at Havana International Airport you will be transferred to your accommodation.

Day 2: Havana

Your first full day in Havana will begin with breakfast at the hotel followed by a morning of sight-seeing. On the tour we will see the beautiful Old Havana, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. For a real feast of the senses, you should visit the famous restaurants La Bodeguita del Medio or La Floridita, where Hemingway used to sip his Mojitos and Daiquiris. After a visit to the Havana Club Rum Museum, lunch will be served in a traditional local restaurant.

Day 3: Havana – Cienfuegos

After breakfast we will set off in the direction of Cienfuegos, which is often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the South’. On the journey we will stop in Guamá. From here we will take a boat trip through Laguna del Tresoro, the ‘Treasure Lake’. The lake is surrounded by a picturesque landscape with many canals, mangrove forests and palms. You will also be able to visit a village reconstructed in Taíno-Indian style as well as a crocodile farm. You can opt for lunch in a traditional local restaurant. After this we will explore the city of Cienfuegos, situated on the beautiful Cienfuegos bay. You can admire the neo-classical architecture of the city and visit the Tetro Terry and the Palacio del Valle.

Day 4: Sierra del Escambray & Trinidad

After breakfast we will travel to Sierra de Escambray. At the health resort Topes de Collantes, nature-lovers will be rewarded by the many rare rainforest plants and animals that can be found here. We offer various trips on foot or on horseback, during which you can discover the stunning landscapes, dotted with waterfalls and picturesque ‘fincas’. Before we go on to Trinidad, you will be served a delicious lunch in a traditional local restaurant. In Trinidad you will stay at the Hotel Las Cuevas where you will be also having dinner.

Day 5: Trinidad

Today you can explore Trinidad independently. The city was built in the 18th century and just walking through the streets can feel as if time has stood still. Don’t forget to try the traditional local drink Canchánchara. You will have breakfast and dinner at the Hotel.

Day 6: Trinidad – Varadero

After breakfast we will travel to Varadero. On the way you will visit the town Sancti Spíritus, the first settlement in the Caribbean. This small town is located between cattle fields and sugar cane plantations and has a fascinating colonial heritage. You will dine at one of the town’s charming restaurants.After lunch we will go on to Santa Clara. Here you will be able to see the mausoleum, where Che Guevara’s body rests. In the evening we will arrive at the beach paradise of Varadero.

You can spend a relaxing morning at the beach of Varadero before departure transfer to Havana.

Day 1: Arrive Havana

You arrive at Havana airport and will be transferred to the Hotel Plaza in Havana Vieja where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Havana

After having breakfast, sightseeing in Old Havana takes you through the historical centre of the city and to wonderful squares, museum and streets. Day 3: Pinar del Río

After breakfast we leave for the western part of the island, to the province of Pinar del Río. You will visit a tobacco factory there. Then you will proceed to Viñales, where you can admire the impressive sights of
this charming town; its surrounding tobacco plantations and the strange hill-peaks (mogotes) typical for this region. We will visit the Cueva del Indio and have lunch at Palenque de los Cimarrones restaurant. Late in the afternoon we will arrive at the hotel.

Day 4: Vinales

For this day we have planned an excursion to the beaches of Cayo Jutías. Cayo Jutías is a small island on the north coast that is connected to the mainland by a bridge. There you will have the chance to relax on the beautiful Caribbean beach with crystal-clear turquoise water. You will also have your lunch there. In the afternoon you can enjoy the fantastic scenery of the Cuban West coast on your way back to the Hotel.

Day 5: Vinales – Cienfuegos

In the morning, after breakfast we leave for Cienfuegos. We Stop in Santa Clara and visit the famous Che Mausoleum. Dinner in Palacio de Valle Restaurant.

Day 6: Cienfuegos – Trinidad

In the morning you will have a City Tour around the famous Cienfuegos and visit the botanical Garden with all its beautiful plants. Then you continue to Trinidad. We will spend the evening in Trinidad where we will have dinner and stay at the hoteol.

Day 7: Trinidad

The day begins with a tour through the Colonial town of Trinidad. The afternoon is free for you to discover the town on your own, or go on an excursion. At night we will visit Casa de la Trova.

Day 8: Trinidad – Camaguey

Today’s destination is Camagüey, a very culturally active city that is often labelled legendary due to its traditions, patriotism and classical style. Originally, the city was built in the bay of ‘Nuevitas’ but, as a result of frequent attacks by pirates, the city has been moved deeper into the country. You will enjoy a city bicycle tour. The evening is free at your disposal.

Day 9: Camaguey – Sierra Maestra

Today we will drive to Bayamo. After a short City Tour you continue to the Sierra Maestra, where the Cuban revolution is still alive. In El Salton you have the time to relax at the waterfall and enjoy the beautiful mountain area.

Day 10: Sierra Maestra

Today you will enjoy the mountain area and a short walk will take you the Comandancia de Tercer Frente, where the Cuban revolution took part.

Day 11: Sierra Maestra – Santiago de Cuba

Transfer to Santiago de Cuba. We stop at the famous El Cobre and visit the area before you continue to Santiago de Cuba.

Day 12: Santiago de Cuba

Let’s discover the secret capital! This city is probably the most African in a cultural sense. It is a passionate, lively and buzzing city in which people like to party and dance. Various museums, impressive buildings and a cemetery are the main tourist sites. The monument of Antonio Maceo on the Plaza de la Revolución is a must-see in Santiago de Cuba. Welcome cocktail and lunch in a local restaurant.

Day 13: Havana

We will fly from Santiago de Cuba back to Havana. You could use the day to purchase souvenirs or to stroll through the streets of Havana. For your last night, you will enjoy a salsa band playing live in Casa de la Música, the perfect place for you to say goodbye to Cuba.

Day 14: Depart Havana

The Morning is free to enjoy as you wish. In the afternoon, a transfer will take you to the airport in Havana in time for your flight back home.
