Welcome to the magnificent city of St. Petersburg. Relax and unwind after your journey. Then a short evening orientation drive will be the perfect introduction to this magnificent city.

Day 2: St. Petersburg

Admire the landmarks of St. Petersburg during your sightseeing tour with a Local Specialist. View the Tsar's Winter Palace, Nevsky Prospekt, St. Isaac's Cathedral and the statue of Peter the Great. Explore the Peter and Paul Fortress on your included visit. Later enjoy drinks and canapés at the St. Petersburg Theatre of Youth during your Be My Guest experience.

Day 3: St. Petersburg

Today enjoy a Small Group Sightseeing visit to the Hermitage Museum with a Local Specialist to see one of the world's largest and most valuable art collections. The museum occupies five impressive buildings on the banks of the River Neva in the heart of St. Petersburg. Featuring over 3 million artefacts, the collection represents the development of world culture and art from the stone age to the 20th century. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city. This evening, perhaps visit a theatre to see a Russian Folklore show.

Day 4: St. Petersburg

Consider joining an Optional Experience to visit the fabulous gardens and spectacular fountains of Peter the Great's summer residence at Peterhof.

Day 5: St. Petersburg – Moscow

After a hearty Russian breakfast enjoy some free time before taking a train trip towards the Russian capital. Arrive later in Moscow, your home for the next three nights. An ancient city full of remarkable architecture and monuments to fallen heroes and victorious battles, Moscow is a cauldron of creativity and culture. Located on the Moskva River, the city is the country's political, economic, religious and financial hub.

Day 6: Moscow

Follow the coast along the Gulf of Finland and cross the border into Russia. Travel through the forests of Karelia to St. Petersburg. This evening, consider the relaxing cruise of the "Venice of the North".

Day 3: St. Petersburg

Your Local Specialist shows you the city's sights including the Tsar's Winter Palace, Nevsky Prospekt, St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Statue of Peter the Great. Visit the Peter and Paul Fortress. Later today see one of the world's largest and most valuable art collections inside the magnificent Hermitage Museum - a highlight of any trip to Russia.

Day 4: St. Petersburg

Today enjoy free time to see more sights and shop for Russian souvenirs. Alternatively your Travel Director will suggest joining an Optional Experience to see a Russian folklore show.

Day 5: St. Petersburg – Moscow

Travel on a comfortable, German designed high-speed "Sapsan" train across the vast Russian landscape towards the capital city. Dine tonight at your hotel.

Day 6: Moscow

Follow in the footsteps of Napoleon's retreating army of 1812, passing near Borodino and stopping for a Regional Meal lunch in the Smolensk region. Cross the border into Belarus and continue to Minsk. Tonight dine on traditional cuisine at your hotel.

Day 9: Minsk

View the sights with a Local Specialist including Hero City Memorial during your sightseeing tour. Enjoy the rest of your day exploring the city. Tonight enjoy a Be My Guest dinner in a country home surrounded by state farms close to Minsk where you hear folk songs and taste local delicacies.

Day 10: Minsk – Vilnius

Drive west and cross the border into Lithuania, arriving later in the capital Vilnius. Your Local Specialist shows you the sights during your walking tour, including the Bishop's Palace and the University. Explore the Baroque Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, featuring exceptional sculptural decoration. Walk to the Gates of Dawn, the Carmelite Church of St. Theresa, the former Jewish Ghetto, the Cathedral and the new Royal Palace excavations. Finish at the Church of St. Anna and the site of the synagogue destroyed during World War II.

Day 11: Vilnius – Siauliai – Riga

Day 12: Riga

Riga is a beautiful historic city on the Baltic coast. The extensive Old Town contains narrow medieval streets, Gothic and Baroque Churches, 19th century municipal buildings and Hanseatic warehouses. Your Local Specialist takes you on a sightseeing and walking tour to show you the main highlights. Spend free time afterwards exploring on your own and shopping for souvenirs in the Old Town.

Day 13: Riga – Tallinn

Follow the Gulf of Riga north into Estonia, and travel via Parnu a popular beach resort to Tallinn. Admire the sights of Tallinn with your Local Specialist. Explore the beautifully preserved streets of the old Hanseatic Quarter and 15th century Luhike Jalg Gate and visit Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. This evening join your companions for a Regional Meal of typical specialities at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Warsaw - Vilnius

Pass lakeside Augustów and Suwalki on a scenic drive through Masuria, a region richly endowed with lakes and vast forests. Cross into Lithuania and continue to the capital city of Vilnius.

Day 4: Vilnius

(Relaxed Start) Sightseeing with a Local Expert starts at the Baroque church of St. Peter and St. Paul before moving on to see the neo-classical cathedral. Join a Local Expert for a leisurely walk through the Old Town. See the Jesuit University, the Gates of Dawn and the former Soviet KGB headquarters, a reminder of grim and relatively recent events. Finally, enjoy a highlight visit to the fortified island castle of Trakai, originally built in the 13th century.

Day 5: Vilnius - Siauliai - Riga

Head north to visit the unusual ‘Votive Hill of Crosses' near Siauliai, the symbol of resistance against the Soviet occupation. Then it's on to the Latvian capital of Riga, a melange of Teutonic-inspired spires, stylish cocktail lounges and some of the world's most remarkable art-nouveau architecture.

Day 6: Riga - Tallinn

Head east to the town of Narva, dominated by the mighty Hermannsburg Fortress. The River Narva at this point forms the border with Russia, that you will cross on your way to St. Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great in 1703.

Day 10: St. Petersburg

(Relaxed Start) Cruise by hydrofoil along the Baltic shore to Peter the Great's summer residence of Petrodvorets, that for over 200 years was used for official ceremonies, lavish feasts and formal receptions. Alight to explore the fabulous gardens and cascading fountains.

Day 11: St. Petersburg

Visit the Hermitage, one of the world's greatest museums. Located in the Winter Palace, wander through this fabulous collection of paintings and objets d'art, ranging from Egyptian carvings to Impressionist masterpieces. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore, shop or relax.

Day 12: St. Petersburg - Moscow

In the morning, perhaps visit the former residence of the Yusupov family and the scene of Rasputin's murder before boarding your high speed Sapsan train to Moscow? On arrival, transfer to your hotel for a leisurely three-night stay.
