RV Mekong Pandaw

RV Mekong - Pandaw River Expeditions

RV Mekong Pandaw

Built in 2003, the RV Mekong Pandaw was the first vessel to attempt the journey between Vietnam and Cambodia and the only operator to explore Kratie and its river dolphins in the north of Cambodia (during high water level July-January). The vessel has been lovingly restored to an incredibly high standard, making the extraordinary journey between Ho Chi Minh City and Angkor Wat a truly remarkable experience. The RV Mekong Pandaw has a total of 18 upper deck and 6 main deck staterooms, each spanning 170sq ft. Each room has been cleverly designed to allow both space and privacy whilst you journey along the Mekong River. In keeping with the feel and style of all of Pandaw’s ships, the rooms have traditional interiors all equipped with the modern conveniences you would expect on a luxury boat. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, French windows, desks, safes, storage and have the option of twin or double beds Cabins. Broad promenade decks run around the outside of the accommodation, with chairs and tables outside each cabin to provide each guest with a fantastic vantage point. In 2013 she was refitted and all lower deck cabins were removed in favour of a professional spa, gym, library lounge and office. The RV Mekong Pandaw has the largest sun deck on the River and the biggest public-space-to-passenger-ration. She is quite justifiably the most splendid ship on the Mekong and the envy of anything that floats by. The cruise between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap (and vice-versa) takes 7 nights, or for those short of time 3 and 4 night cruises operate, breaking the journey in Phnom Penh.

Broad promenade decks run around the outside of the accommodation, with chairs and tables outside each cabin to provide each guest with a fantastic vantage point. She is not a small ship but despite her size, she has a shallow draft and can usually get up river into low water areas when other vessels are stuck well below. Pandaw is the only operator to explore Kratie and its river dolphins in the north of Cambodia (during high water level July-January). The cruise between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap (and vice-versa) takes 7 nights, or for those short of time 3 and 4-night cruises operate, breaking the journey in Phnom Penh.

RV Andaman Explorer

RV Andaman Explorer

RV Andaman Explorer

The Andaman Explorer was built as the MV Atlantic Guard in 1963 in Norway as a Norwegian coast guard vessel. She is 61 meters long with her original Rolls Royce engines. The hull is built to ‘ice class’ with extra thick plates and she has the power to withstand north Atlantic storms or chases out to sea. Very handy when cruising in tropical waters! She retired from coast guard duties in 1998 and was then owned by an Italian Family who lavished millions on the ship and completely refitted her with eleven very generous suites. Much of the ship is floored with Carrara marble, pleasantly cool under foot for those who go unshod. In recent times she has belonged to a powerful shipping family based in Dubai who maintained the ship to a very high standard. Today the RV Andaman Explorer is owned by Pandaw River Expeditions and cruises the Mergui Archipelago on a 7-night expedition. With 10 generously proportioned suites (9 x Double and 1 x Twin) with separate sitting room area, private bathrooms, and air-conditioning.
