Day 1: Arrive Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town, where we’ll meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel, affectionately known as Mt Nellie. At the foot of the Table Mountain, and walking distance of Company’s Garden, this exquisitely restored colonial hotel was painted pink over 100-years ago. Upon arrival, enjoy some time to settle in before savouring a warm welcome reception.

Hotel: Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, 3 nights

Built by Dutch colonialists, stop at the Castle of Good Hope for a tour of this historic pentagonal fortress that is the oldest colonial building in South Africa. Afterwards, board the aerial cableway to the top of Table Mountain, before embarking on your included sightseeing activity. Perhaps spend the afternoon at the Victoria and Alfred (VandA) Waterfront with a visit to the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world, the Zeitz Mocaa Museum, followed by a drink or afternoon tea at the Silo Hotel. Or, set off on a heritage tour where you will discover the neighbourhoods of Bo-Kaap and District Six. Or if you’re feeling active, set out on a hike along the Camps Bay Pipe Track, which offers sensational views above the gorgeous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, as well as Cape Town’s 12 Apostles Mountain. Tonight, you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant to savour the fabulous food that Cape Town has to offer.

Day 3: Cape Town – Cape Peninsula

After breakfast this morning, you will journey along the spectacular coastal Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point. En route, take in the South African beach scenery, its quaint villages and the ‘tip’ of Africa, Cape Point, before continuing on to Simon’s Town for lunch. Nearby is Boulders Beach, where you might see a colony of penguins, before returning to your hotel.

This morning, meet with a former prison guard for a private tour at Robben Island. Originally assigned to guard Nelson Mandela, you will be moved by his stories of the island and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South African Freedom Fighters were incarcerated. After your private tour of Robben Island, head for the oak-shaded streets of Stellenbosch for the remainder of the day at the Lanzerac Hotel. Here, let the hotel’s tremendous history, character and charm unfold before you, upon the backdrop of magnificent mountains.

Hotel: Lanzerac Hotel, 2 nights

Today you’ll explore the historical town of Stellenbosch, and admire its beautiful Cape Dutch architecture and colonial history. Here you will indulge in its storied past, remarkable culture and inspiring artwork on a walking tour, before tasting traditional cuisines such as the savoury classic Bobotie and sweet amarula mousse. Once you’ve enjoyed time to explore Stellenbosch, make the most of the rest of the day at your estate, surrounded by mountains and wine farms, where you can relax or partake in the activities offered within the property.

Today, fly to Kruger, before transferring to your private lodge within Kruger National Park. This evening, enjoy a round of sundowners as you soak up the magnificent African sunset, before a delicious dinner.

Hotel: Ngala Safari Lodge or Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge, 2 nights

Rise early for your morning game drive, which presents the perfect opportunity to spot animals roaming in the wild. After your morning game drive, head back to your lodge for time to relax before another game drive this afternoon. Your day ends with a boma dinner under the stars.

Today you will fly to Johannesburg, where you will stay overnight in preparation for our flight to Botswana in the morning.

Hotel: D’Oreale Hotel

Today you will fly to Kasane in Botswana, then travel by coach and boat into Namibia where you will board your riverboat, the Zambezi Queen for two nights. From your perfect vantage point directly on the river that flourishes with life, you will enjoy incredible game safaris on the Chobe River.

Cruise: Zambezi Queen or similar

Prepare for a superb day of viewing animals on safari boat rides. Why not seize the opportunity and visit a Namibian village, or try your hand at tiger fishing.

Day 11: Disembark Zambezi Queen, Chobe River, Livingstone

This morning, disembark your riverboat and cross the border into Botswana, then into Zambia. You will then be transferred to your hotel overlooking the Zambezi River, with direct access to Victoria Falls. Once you’ve checked in, you can relax at your luxurious hotel or take a leisurely walk to the falls.

Hotel: Royal Livingstone Hotel, 2 nights

Today presents a selection of ways in which you could spend the day. You might like to embark on Chief Mukuni’s Village Cultural Tour then visit the Maramba Market. Alternatively, marvel at the spectacular sight of thundering Victoria Falls from a helicopter flight. Or tour the Zimbabwean side of the falls and enjoy a lunch. After exploring Livingstone on your chosen sightseeing activity, savour a farewell dinner.

After breakfast, your African Journey adventure concludes. We say goodbye before we transfer you to the airport for your flight
