Day 01: Arrive Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town where we’ll meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel, affectionately known as Mt Nellie. At the foot of the Table Mountain, and walking distance of Company’s Garden and restaurants, this exquisitely restored colonial hotel was painted pink over 100-years ago. Upon arrival, enjoy some time to settle in before savouring a warm welcome reception.

Day 02: Cape Town

A gateway to Cape Town’s past, you will stop at the Castle of Good Hope for a tour of this historic landmark. Afterwards, you will board the iconic aerial cableway to the top of Table Mountain, before embarking on your included sightseeing activity. Perhaps spend the afternoon at the Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront with a visit to the largest museumof contemporary African art in the world, the Zeitz Mocaa Museum, followed by a drink or afternoon tea at the Silo Hotel. Or, set off on a heritage tour where you will discover the neighbourhoods of Bo-Kaap and District Six. Maybe set out on a hike along the Camps Bay Pipe Track, which offers views above the gorgeous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. Tonight, enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant to savour Cape Town’s Fabulous food.

Day 03: Cape Town – Cape Peninsula

This morning, you will journey along the coastal Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point. En route, take in the South African beach scenery, its quaint villages and the ‘tip’ of Africa, Cape Point, before continuing on to Simon’s Town for lunch. Nearby is Boulders Beach, where you might get the chance to see a colony of penguins, before returning to your hotel.

Day 04: Robben Island – Stellenbosch

This morning, meet with a former prison guard for a private tour at Robben Island. Originally assigned to guard Nelson Mandela, you will be moved by his stories of the island and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South African Freedom Fighters were incarcerated. It’s then onto the oak-shaded streets of Stellenbosch for the remainder of the day at the Lanzerac Hotel. Here, let the hotel’s tremendous history, character and charm unfold before you, upon the backdrop of magnificent mountains.

Day 05: Stellenbosch

Today you’ll explore Stellenbosch, and admire its Cape Dutch architecture and colonial history. Here you will indulge in its storied past, remarkable culture and inspiring artwork on a walking tour, before tasting traditional cuisines. You will enjoy the rest of the day at your estate, surrounded by mountains and wine farms, where you can relax or partake in the activities offered within the property.

Day 06: Cape Town – Kruger National Park

Today, fly to Kruger, before transferring to your private lodge within Kruger National Park. This evening, enjoy a round of sundowners as you soak up the African sunset, before dinner.

Day 07: Kruger National Park

Rise early today for your morning game drive with experienced trackers. It’s then back to your lodge for some time to relax before setting off on another game drive this afternoon. Your day ends with a boma dinner under the stars as you enjoy the sounds of the bush. This majestic setting provides a perfect conclusion to your incredible Kruger National Park experience.

Day 08: Kruger National Park – Johannesburg

Today, fly to Johannesburg, where you will stay overnight in preparation for you River safari in the morning.

Day 09: Chobe River – Embark Zambezi Queen

Today you will fly to Kasane in Botswana, then travel by coach and boat into Namibia where you will board your riverboat, the Zambezi Queen for two nights. From your perfect vantage point directly on the river that flourishes with life, you will enjoy incredible game safaris on the Chobe River.

Cruise: Chobe River, Zambezi Queen, 2 nights

Day 10: Chobe River

Prepare for a superb day of viewing animals on safari boat rides.

Day 11: Disembark Zambezi Queen – Chobe River + Livingstone

Disembark your riverboat and cross the border into Botswana then into Zambia. You will then be transferred to your hotel overlooking the Zambezi River, with direct access to Victoria Falls. Once you’ve checked in, relax at your hotel or take a leisurely walk to the falls.

Day 12: Livingstone

Today presents a vast selection of ways in which you could spend the day. You might like to embark on Chief Mukuni’s Village Cultural Tour then visit the Maramba Market. Alternatively, marvel at the spectacular sight of thundering Victoria Falls from a helicopter flight. Or tour the Zimbabwean side of the falls and enjoy a lunch. Savour a farewell dinner.

Day 13: Livingstone, Nairobi

Fly to Nairobi for your East Africa safari.

Take a flight to Lake Manyara in Tanzania and join our 4WD vehicles and continue to your lodge. Savour time at leisure before a round of sundowners, followed by dinner.

Day 15: Ngorongoro Crater

Today at the crater, you will stop for a picnic lunch, giving you time to take in the surrounds. Voted as one of the Seven Wonders of Africa, the crater’s high walls are a natural enclosure to vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and lions, so make sure you have your camera ready to capture the abundant wildlife.

Day 16: Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara

Visit a local school and Maasai village, before a barbecue lunch and optional game drive through Manyara National Park.

Day 17: Olduvai Gorge – Serengeti National Park

Take in the spectacular, expansive views and watch out for wildlife, as you travel to Serengeti National Park. At Olduvai Gorge, also known as the Cradle of Mankind, enjoy a private tour of the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors.

Day 18: Serengeti National Park

The plains of Serengeti National Park are home to an incredible amount of animals. Rise early this morning for a game drive. Back at your lodge, enjoy some time to relax. Day 19: Serengeti National Park

A third day in the national park illuminates the opportunity to spy any animals that you may have missed on game drives yesterday.

Day 20: Serengeti National Park – Masai Mara

Board a light aircraft for your journey to Kenya, where you will take a picturesque flight to the Masai Mara. Shortly after arriving, head off-road through the savannah on your first game drive. Afterwards, retire to your tent retreat.

Day 21: Masai Mara

Wake to the sounds of the African bush. Later, enjoy the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives through the private Mara conservancy.

Day 22: Masai Mara

Today is set aside for a game viewing of the Masai Mara Reserve. Otherwise, you might like to spend the day relaxing at camp, or watching resident hippos from your deck. This evening a traditional bush dinner is served within the incredible setting of the Masai Mara.

Day 4: Cape Town – Kruger National Park

This morning, board your plane and fly from Cape Town to Kruger National Park, where you enter the private Ngala Reserve. Settle in to your accommodation and enjoy the scenery as you relax with sundowner drinks.

Day 5: Kruger National Park

Rise early before heading out on a morning game drive with experienced trackers. Fly to Kasane in Botswana, then travel by coach and boat into Namibia where you will stay on the banks of the Chobe in your own luxurious villa. Over the next two days, watch for wildlife along the shore line. Take time to relax with sundowners on your balcony at sunset before enjoying your evening meal.

Day 8: Chobe River, Chobe River National Park

Day 15: Tarangire National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

Depart Tarangire National Park after breakfast this morning. You’ll be staying close to the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the world’s largest inactive, and unfilled volcanic crater. This afternoon, perhaps take an included optional game drive through Lake Manyara National Park before enjoying some time to relax. Day 1: Arrive Cape Town (South Africa)

Tonight, try African drumming before a Welcome Dinner of Cape Malay cuisine.

A city alive with creativity, colour and natural beauty, be ready to fall in love with Cape Town today as you ride a cableway to the summit of Table Mountain before touring the city. During a free afternoon perhaps take a ferry to Robben Island; explore Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens; join an African Heritage Tour; or visit the Constantia Wine Valley.

Farewell Cape Town this morning, and travel through the Karoo region, which showcases a well preserved semidesert eco-system. Arrive at your hotel for a dinner of local produce, including ostrich.

This morning, discover the Cango Caves. After, tour an ostrich farm and come face-to-face with Africa’s enormous flightless birds as you enjoy the chance to feed an ostrich by hand. Then, join the Garden Route to Knysna, where you will enjoy a free afternoon. Perhaps join a whale watching select experience – seasonal (own expense).

Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve, a pristine piece of paradise on the Western Head of Knysna, accessible only by ferry. Cross the Knysna lagoon and join a park guide for a 4WD journey to the top of Western Head. Later, you may like to join an optional bushwalk that takes you into ancient sea caves.

Depart Knysna and continue along the Garden Route. Make a stop to visit Monkeyland Primate Reserve, the world’s first free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary. Continue along the Storms River Mouth and through Tsitsikamma Forest on the way to Port Elizabeth. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 25: Serengeti National Park

A third day in the national park illuminates the opportunity to see any animals that you may have missed on game drives yesterday.

Board a light aircraft for your journey to Kenya, where you will take a picturesque flight to the Masai Mara, home to the nomadic Maasai people who have lived here for centuries. Shortly after arriving, head off-road through the savannah on your first game drive. This is one of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five, as well as cheetahs and hyenas. Take in the sounds of the bush at your tented camp, your home for the next three nights. Enjoy dinner before retiring for the evening.

At 08h30 this morning you will be collected for your Full-day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour. This awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point encompasses magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque coastal villages. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world’s most scenic areas and stretches from the City centre to Cape Point. Highlights include: the Atlantic Seaboard (Clifton, Camps Bay, Twelve Apostles), Hout Bay harbour with an optional boat trip to Seal Island, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, lunch at seaside restaurant (to be paid for locally), Boulder’s Beach Penguin Colony, and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Take a flight to Tanzania and join our waiting 4WD vehicles and continue to your lodge. On arrival, celebrate with a round of drinks, followed by dinner.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater

Today at the crater, you will stop for a picnic lunch, giving you time to take in the surrounds. Voted as one of the Seven Wonders of Africa, the crater’s high walls are a natural enclosure to vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and lions, so make sure you have your camera ready to capture abundant wildlife.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara

Visit a local school and Maasai village, before a barbecue lunch and an optional game drive through Manyara National Park.

Day 12: Olduvai Gorge – Serengeti National Park

Take in the spectacular, expansive views and watch out for wildlife, as you travel to Serengeti National Park. At Olduvai Gorge enjoy a private tour of the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors.

Day 13: Serengeti National Park

The plains of Serengeti National Park are home to an incredible amount of animals. Rise early this morning for a game drive. Back at your lodge, enjoy some time to relax. This evening savour another game drive, this time observing animals as they prepare for the night time, before enjoying dinner at your lodge.

Day 14: Serengeti National Park

A third day in the national park illuminates the opportunity to see any animals that you may have missed. You might like to head off in the morning, evening or both to maximise your chances. Otherwise, you might like to relax and enjoy the beautiful setting in the bush.

Day 15: Serengeti National Park – Masai Mara

Board a light aircraft to the Masai Mara. Here, be greeted by 4WD vehicles and head off-road through the savannah on your first game drive. Afterwards, head to your tented camp where you’ll be greeted by sounds of the African bush. Enjoy dinner at your camp before retiring for the evening.

Day 16: Masai Mara

Wake to the sounds of the African bush. Later, enjoy the sensational Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives through the private Mara conservancy. Tonight, raise your glass and celebrate your experience with a round of sundowner drinks.

Day 17: Masai Mara

Today is set aside for game viewing of the Mara Reserve. Otherwise, you might like to spend the day relaxing at camp, or watching resident hippos from your deck. This evening a traditional bush dinner is served within the incredible setting of the Masai Mara.

Day 18: Masai Mara – Nairobi

This morning you will say goodbye to Masai Mara and take a flight to Nairobi. At the end of your day, enjoy a private performance by the Kenyan Boys Choir, with farewell drinks.

Stop for a light lunch then watch the penguins totter along the shoreline at Boulders Beach. Continue to historic Simon’s Town for some time to wander at your leisure. Named after Simon Van Der Stel, an early governor of the Dutch settlement, who arrived in the Cape in 1679, Simon’s Town is South Africa’s third oldest settlement. Van Der Stel chose it as a safe alternative to the stormy Cape coast during winter. Tonight, back in Cape Town, partake in the art of African drumming before enjoying a delicious Welcome Dinner of Cape Malay cuisine.

Today begins with a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain, followed by a city tour. With a free afternoon, perhaps choose from one of our select experiences. Take a ferry ride to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; enjoy an African Heritage Tour; discover the Constantia Wine Valley; or enjoy the floral displays at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (see page 60 for further details). Day 4: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn

Travel through the Karoo region onwards to Oudtshoorn. Arrive at your hotel for a dinner of regional produce, including ostrich.

Today, discover the subterranean formations of the Cango Caves. Come face-to-face with Africa’s enormous flightless birds as you tour an ostrich farm. Enjoy the chance to feed an ostrich by hand and see examples of the bird world’s largest eggs. Then follow the curves of the Garden Route to Knysna. Straddling the southern coast of South Africa, the 300-kilometre-long Garden Route takes its name from the stunning and ecologically diverse vegetation that typifies the region. Travel through grasslands, wetlands, forests and mountainous regions, passing the numerous lagoons, lakes and rivers that dot the coastline. In Knysna, enjoy the afternoon at your leisure.

Enjoy a visit to Featherbed Nature Reserve, a pristine piece of paradise on the Western Head of Knysna which is only accessible by ferry. Continue along the Garden Route. Visit Monkeyland Primate Reserve. You may like to spend some time exploring Soweto, a city with a tumultuous past and a rich heritage. Visit the Regina Mundi Church, as well as Mandela House Museum to learn about the legacy of Nelson Mandela. Spend the evening relaxing, or perhaps venture out and explore the nearby shops and peruse the restaurants close by.

Take an included flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where you’ll enjoy a guided walk before being transferred to your hotel on the Zambian side of the falls. Later this evening, enjoy a delicious dinner.

Enjoy a day to yourself to explore the area around Victoria Falls. Perhaps revisit the falls at your own pace – it’s just a five minute stroll from your resort. Day 13: Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park

Cross the border into Botswana and arrive later in the heart of Chobe National Park, home to the largest concentration of game in Africa. As the sun begins to set, head out on a sunset game-viewing cruise through the waterways. This is the best time of the day to see large herds of elephants, as well as a plethora of other animals that flock to the banks of the Chobe River. Later, retreat to your modern bush-style accommodation, which sits at the doorstep of where four African countries meet: Botswana; Namibia; Zimbabwe; and Zambia.

Day 14: Chobe National Park

Today you will embark upon an enticing game drive adventure through Chobe National Park. At the end of the day, return to your lodge to enjoy some down time and dinner.

It’s time to explore Kenya. Your first stop is Amboseli National Park. The signature attraction here is spotting hundreds of elephants set to the backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro. For this afternoon’s game viewing, your expert game driver/tracker will be on hand to ensure you get the best possible opportunities to see the animals of Kenya. A highlight is the chance to view elephants roaming against the backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro. Travelling in such small groups today, you’re able to get up close to this fabulous wildlife show. Day 18: Amboseli National Park – Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park

It’s onto the next adventure as you take a short flight to Nairobi. Continue by 4WD to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, situated on a spectacular range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. You will arrive just in time for lunch. You may also wish to take advantage of the lodge’s beautiful surrounds and embark on a stunning nature walk around the property. The afternoon is all about wildlife spotting, with a game drive. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at your lodge this evening.

Bound by rocky escarpments and brimming with hordes of animals, a day of game drives at Lake Nakuru National Park offers yet another window into life in Africa’s animal kingdom. Enjoy your final morning in the Masai Mara, then transfer to the airstrip and board your scheduled flight to Nairobi. From here, you will board a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, where you will be transferred to your game lodge. Nestled between the Usa River and a wildlife sanctuary, Mount Meru Game Lodge is located in an idyllic location. Tonight, enjoy dinner at your lodge.

Day 25: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

Travel to World Heritage-listed Ngorongoro Crater. Marvel at the lush green scenery as you descend down the high crater walls. Enjoy a picnic lunch and go in search of the unique wildlife that roams this special place. Then take a 4WD out to Oldupai Gorge to explore one of the world’s most important archaeological sites. It’s then onto Serengeti National Park, best known as a host to the epic Great Migration. The park is also famous for its predators who spend their days pursuing impalas, zebras, buffalo, gazelle and more. Arrive at Kati Kati Tented Camp in the central Serengeti. Relax by the campfire before dinner, then retire to your tented room with an ensuite. Situated in an idyllic spot within the rich vegetation, there is no better place to sleep under the African sky.

Day 17: Amboseli National Park

Wake early then enjoy some tea and a snack in preparation for another exciting day. The morning takes you to a Maasai village where you’ll wander about the homes the Maasai have built with their own hands. Delight in their unique and colourful jewellery and interact with the villagers to learn about their daily life. For this afternoon’s game viewing, your expert game driver/tracker will be on hand to ensure you get the best possible opportunities to see the animals of Kenya. A highlight is the chance to view elephants roaming against the backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro. Travelling in such small groups today, you’re able to get up close to this fabulous wildlife show. In between game drives, you’ll return to the lodge to relax and indulge in delicious meals.

Day 18: Amboseli National Park – Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park

It’s onto the next adventure as you take a short flight to Nairobi. Continue by 4WD to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, situated on a spectacular range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. You will arrive just in time for lunch. You may also wish to take advantage of the lodge’s beautiful surrounds and embark on a stunning nature walk around the property. The afternoon is all about wildlife spotting, with a game drive. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at your lodge this evening.

Bound by rocky escarpments and brimming with hordes of animals, a day of game drives at Lake Nakuru National Park offers yet another window into life in Africa’s animal kingdom. The vast open spaces provide excellent game viewing, which is why this reserve is one of the most well-regarded for wildlife in all of Africa. At certain times of the year, you may see enormous herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra travelling to and from the Serengeti in search of food during the seasonal Great Migration. Plus, you can also see the predators who follow them. This afternoon, head out on an exhilarating game drive, noticing how different these landscapes are compared to those you experienced in Southern Africa. Day 23: Masai Mara – Depart Nairobi

On your final morning in the Masai Mara, transfer to the airstrip and board your scheduled flight to Nairobi. From here, you’ll board your onward flight home.
