Day 1: Arrive Adelaide

Welcome to Adelaide, South Australia’s capital, renowned for its gourmet delights and thriving culture. From the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel, your home for the next three nights. Enjoy a welcome dinner to celebrate the wonders of Australia’s southernmost state with your new friends.

Day 2: Adelaide

Freechoice: Today, discover the history and culture of Adelaide on a walking tour or taste your way through the Adelaide Central Markets. Alternatively, choose between an Adelaide city sights tour, which includes the famous, newly renovated Adelaide Oval, one of the most picturesque test cricket grounds of the country, or take a charming Torrens River cruise to explore Adelaide’s picturesque riverside with a visit to the Adelaide Zoo.

Day 3: Barossa Valley

Today travel to one of Australia’s oldest wine producing regions, Barossa Valley. Spend the day discovering the Barossa Valley’s famous drop. Appreciate the chance to try port from the year of your birth at Seppeltsfield before lunch, and then take a vineyard tour of the award-winning Jacob’s Creek Winery before returning to Adelaide.

Day 4: Adelaide – Kangaroo Island

Journey south today to the Fleurieu Peninsula where rolling hills are complemented by rugged, clifftops and sandy beaches. We’ll stop in McLaren Vale where we will visit the d’Arenberg Cube, a five storey contemporary glass structure that almost appears to be floating amongst the vineyards. Sample premium wine and capture the sunlight bouncing off the many façades of the building on your camera. Visit the charming seaside town of Victor Harbor before your ferry ride to Kangaroo Island where you will enjoy a three night stay.

Day 5: Kangaroo Island

Be inspired by the scenery today at Flinders Chase National Park. Behold the powerful forces of nature at Admirals Arch, a stunning natural rock arc formed by lashing waves. Take a frame-worthy photograph at Remarkable Rocks, spectacular naturally formed granite sculptures shaped over 500 years of erosion. A special encounter awaits at Seal Bay, home to the third largest sea lion colony in Australia, where you’ll meet your conservation guide for a walk amongst the seals. If you are quiet you might even hear them talking.

Day 6: Kangaroo Island

Enrich: Tantalise your taste buds as your local epicurean guide introduces you to the magnificent tastes of Kangaroo Island, which have helped to make it famous – gourmet cheese, honey and wine.

Day 7: Kangaroo Island – Adelaide

Your ferry trip this morning will bring you back to the mainland

Enrich: Meet the winemakers at Gemtree Wines who were the worldwide winner of Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices in 2019. Discover through an interactive experience at the Biodynamic hut all about biodynamic viticulture and finish your visit with a taste of locally sourced snacks

Continue on to Glenelg, a beachside suburb of Adelaide, where you will enjoy a special stay, with a chance to reflect on your adventures over a farewell dinner

Day 8: Depart Adelaide

Adelaide & Kangaroo Island

Day 1: Welcome to Adelaide

On arrival in Adelaide, make your own way to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: The Barossa

Travel through the city of Adelaide northwards to the world renowned Barossa wine region. Enjoy the change of scenery as you make your way into the vineyards of South Australia’s premium wine region. Your first stop is Pindarie, a multi-tourism award winning cellar door, which feels more like an Australian Homestead than a cellar door. The friendly staff share their stories behind the wines as you sample their famous blends in the heritage stables. Sit back and admire their stunning vineyard views while you enjoy some morning tea.

The next stop is a visit to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, an absolute must whilst visiting the Barossa. Learn about Maggie Beer – the cook, writer and founder of ‘Maggie Beer Products’, and enjoy tastings of her full product range including limited edition seasonal produce. You can also browse amongst her personally selected regional specialty goods, purchase one of her signed books or simply sit back and take in the view.

On arrival at Lambert Estate at Angaston, you will enjoy a structured wine tasting whilst sampling local seasonal produce from gourmet platters. Main course follows, and is a feast for the senses, with two signature dishes, salad and vegetables. You may wish to purchase a glass of wine from the impressive wine selection, or enjoy a coffee accompanied with their popular Chocolatier (Chocolate Port). Leaving Lambert Estate, travel to Mengler Hill Lookout for sweeping views over the valley and then onto the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company your final stop for the day. Here you will taste house made chocolates paired with Vineyard Road’s handcrafted wines which will be a great way to finish off your Barossa Food & Wine Experience.

Day 3: Adelaide – Kangaroo Island

An early morning pick up from your hotel for a scenic coach journey to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the SeaLink ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will board your coach and your local Driver Guide will take you on a tour of South Australia’s premier nature-based tourism destination. Your first stop is Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, for a guided tour and introductory talk about the history of the oil distillery and the chance to purchase some eucalyptus products. Then travel onto Vivonne Bay Bistro located on a 260 hectare bush property, for a delicious two course lunch.

Afterwards, visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided beach walk with a National Park Ranger among a breeding colony of wild and rare Australian Sea-lions. You’ll then visit another amazing wildlife attraction, the fascinating Birds of Prey free-flight demonstration, an interactive and educational display of native Australian birds and raptors. From here you’ll travel to Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, where you can get up-close to koalas, see penguins swim and play, hand-feed kangaroos and learn about endangered species.

Day 4: Kangaroo Island – Adelaide

Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm to enjoy an informative talk by the bee-keeper followed by tastings and an opportunity to sample homemade honey ice-cream and honey beauty products. Then at Hanson Bay Visitor Centre and Café enjoy a two-course lunch.

Afterwards, travel to the western-most part of the Island to Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia’s largest and earliest conservation parks. After a short stop at the Visitor Centre, travel through the park and enjoy breath-taking views of its unique trees, plants and coastal scenery. You will be taken to the rugged southern coastline for a walk around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities and stunning sea views. Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal this spectacular arch, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful New Zealand fur seals that can be seen swimming and playing in the waves or resting on the rocks.

Return to Penneshaw Ferry Terminal for the return journey, arriving in Adelaide late in the evening.

Day 5: Farewell from Adelaide

Your short break concludes this morning after breakfast. You’ll be transferred to Adelaide Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime).

Day 1: Adelaide – Kangaroo Island

Depart on a scenic coach journey to Cape Jervis, taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula, to board a ferry for the crossing to Kangaroo Island. Your first stop is Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. After testing and tasting the Eucalyptus products, continue to Vivonne Bay Bistro located on a 260 hectare bush property, for a two course lunch. Afterwards visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided beach walk with a National Park Ranger, amongst a breeding colony of wild and rare Australian sea lions. Visit the fascinating Birds of Prey In-Flight Presentation, an interactive and educational demonstration of native Australian birds and raptors. Then travel to the Wildlife Park where you can join a guided tour and hand-feed the friendly kangaroos.

Day 2: Kangaroo Island – Adelaide

Explore the park and enjoy breath-taking views of the coastal scenery. Walk around Remarkable Rocks and view Admirals Arch, for great photo opportunities and stunning sea views. The boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal a spectacular arch, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful New Zealand fur seals that can be seen swimming and playing in the waves or resting on the rocks. Return to Penneshaw Ferry Terminal for the return journey to Adelaide. Hotel drop-offs are available for city-centre hotels.
