Day 1: Welcome to Perth

Begin your adventure in the dynamic south west by joining your Travel Director for a tour of the friendly Western Australian capital. Visit Kings Park and explore its delightful Botanic Gardens on the broad expanse of the Swan River. This evening, enjoy the company of your fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception and dinner.

Day 2: Perth – Wave Rock

Journey through the Golden Outback to Hyden. You’ll join a local guide on a tour of Boddington Gold Mine, the site of the largest producer of gold in Australia. Continue to Wave Rock and the small town of Hyden. This magnificent rock formation resembling a gigantic wave, was formed over three million years ago. Then take a short walk to discover Hippo’s Yawn, another fascinating rock formation. This evening, you’ll dine at your hotel.

Day 3: Wave Rock – Kalgoorlie

This morning, take an exclusive farm tour with local Sheenagh to learn about station life in the outback. You may spot WA’s famous wildflowers in this region. Pass through the former gold boomtown of Coolgardie and continue to Kalgoorlie, a colourful town whose economy has been driven by gold since 1893. Take an orientation tour of this historic town and drive to the official lookout for spectacular views over the famous Super Pit open-cut gold mine, which is large enough to be seen from space. Dine this evening at your hotel.

Day 4: Kalgoorlie – Esperance

Today, visit Cape Le Grand National Park and discover wild coastal scenery, rugged granite peaks, sweeping headlands and white sand beaches. At stunning Lucky Bay, you may see some of the local kangaroos that like to laze on the pristine beach.

Day 5: Esperance – Albany

Travel on through Ravensthorpe and the unique Fitzgerald Biosphere. Later, at Bluff Knoll Lookout, you’ll witness the rugged beauty of the Stirling Ranges National Park. Continue to Albany, a town imbued with Anzac history, and settle in to your hotel for the night.

Day 6: Albany

Today, take your time to explore seaside Albany, which boasts many fine heritage listed buildings. Perhaps visit the acclaimed National ANZAC Centre. Set high on a hill within Albany’s Princess Royal Fortress, the award-winning centre overlooks the harbour from which more than 41,000 men and women departed Australia for the Great War.

Day 7: Albany – Margaret River

Experience the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk this morning and explore the canopy of the majestic Tingle forest. Then travel on to Cape Leeuwin, where the Indian and Great Southern Oceans meet. Explore the grounds of its historic lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular surroundings at this beautifully restored heritage site before departing for Margaret River. Beaches and surf breaks line the nearby coast, whose waters host migratory whales between June and November.

Day 8: Margaret River

Margaret River is known not only for its fabulous wine but also for its fresh produce and boutique producers. Vasse Virgin is where you’ll have the chance to learn about all things olive oil, taste the gourmet produce, and sample their range of beauty products made from olive oil. Continue to our hand-picked local winery for wine tastings and lunch prepared using fresh local produce.

Day 9: Margaret River – Fremantle

You might like to take a stroll this morning along the 2-kilometre-long jetty in Busselton, a popular holiday town on the shores of Geographe Bay. Then travel on to Fremantle, where the afternoon is yours to explore. You could visit the colourful Fremantle Markets to purchase local arts and crafts and taste local produce. We recommend taking a wander along the Fremantle foreshore to observe the impressive fishing fleet. Celebrate your exploration of this magical regional of Western Australia this evening at a Farewell Dinner with your Travel Director and new-found friends.

Albany, Tree Top Walk & Margaret River

A wonderful journey through Australia’s South West, a region blessed with rugged ranges, towering old growth forests, a pristine coastline, premium wines and heritage charm.

Day 1: Perth To Albany

As we travel south towards Albany and the South Coast, we encounter the Stirling Ranges which is one of the only major mountain ranges in the southern half of Western Australia. We continue through the Porongorups and stop for a winery lunch with wine tasting and then continue south to Mount Clarence and the ANZAC Memorial Centre in Albany. Immerse yourself in the ANZAC legend while taking a self-guided tour. Enjoy a scenic drive along the rugged coastline before an early evening check-in at your accommodation.

Day 2: Albany to Pemberton Region 

After breakfast, enjoy coastal sightseeing, visiting The Gap and Natural Bridge. Next we head to the famous Whaleworld Interpretation Centre for a quick self-guided tour. Travelling west to the coastal resort town of Walpole, we join our local guide for a luncheon cruise on the Nornalup Inlet, widely regarded as one of the last great wilderness areas. Next stop is the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk which reaches 40 metres high into the forest canopy. Afterwards head northwest to the Pemberton region for check-in at your accommodation. Accommodation: Karri Valley Resort, Pemberton or similar.

Day 3: Pemberton Region to Margaret River Wine Region

Early morning, take a short stroll to the majestic Beedelup Falls. Travelling north through the stunning Blackwood Forest we arrive at Australia’s most south-westerly point, Augusta, and visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where the Indian and Great Southern Oceans meet. After lunch we travel through Boranup Forest to Mammoth Cave for a guided tour of the large limestone cave, before driving into the township of Margaret River where you will have some free time to visit the quaint shops on the main street. We then pay a visit to Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, before a late afternoon check-in at your accommodation allowing free time to experience the local surroundings. Accommodation: Abbey Beach Resort, Busselton or similar.

Day 4: Margaret River to Perth 

After breakfast, we travel to Cowaramup, famous for its numerous cow statues. We explore local chocolate and gourmet produce factories (time permitting) to taste some of their delicious samples as well as taste some of the locally produced wine. We then stop for a delicious lunch, and beer and cider tasting at a local brewery. Following lunch, we head to the dramatic coast at Canal Rocks, before a leisurely drive back to Perth arriving early evening.
