Day 1: Arrive In Rome, Italy

Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to start exploring this great city. Take advantage of your CosmosGO app to explore on your own before you meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers in the evening.

Day 2: Rome

This morning, put on an apron and become chef for a day. Attend a Cooking Class and learn how to prepare a sumptuous italian lunch. Judge the results of your fruitful morning by sitting around a table enjoying this meal with your fellow “masterchefs”. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to discover the fascinating city of Rome.

Day 3: Rome – Naples – Capri

Naples is the capital of espresso coffee and pizza, among many other delicacies. This morning you’ll have the opportunity to see the main, highlights, including a stop to visit the St. Clair Monastery Cloister with a Local Guide. After the sightseeing tour, enjoy Pizza Lunch in a restaurant. Later, take a short ferry ride to Capri, the legendary island of glitz and glamor.

Day 4: Capri

Enjoy free time to relax, discover this spectacular island on your own. On the optional island tour, focus on all the main sights and enjoy a light street food lunch of local specialties, as well as a limoncello tasting session. Tonight, after the included dinner, you will be served Torta Caprese for dessert. The hotel chef will explain how this special cake is made, and you will be able to “steal” his personal recipe.

Day 5: Capri – Sorrento Area

Take the Ferry to Sorrento. Few places in the world match the very special charm of Sorrento. This picturesque resort overlooking the Bay of Naples boasts a marvellous climate, beautiful views, trendy shops and boutiques, interesting museums, and a vibrant nightlife. This morning, spend some time learning about Gelato. There will be a demonstration on how gelato and sorbet are prepared, and some hints on how to make it at home. You will, of course, have the opportunity to taste some of the many flavours available in the shop. This evening, we suggest an optional dinner at a local farm, featuring dishes prepared with traditional ingredients.

Day 6: Sorrento Area – Excursion To Positano

Today, set off to discover the spectacular Amalfi coast, a winding coast with many clifftop villages and unbeatable views. Stop in jet-set favourite Positano, a pastel- coloured cascade of chic boutiques and sunkissed sunbathers. Savour a typical Pastry With Coffee as you admire the breathtaking shimmering bays.

Day 7: Sorrento Area – Rome

Say goodbye to the Sorrentine peninsula and drive back to Rome. Enjoy some time sightseeing on your own, or join the optional food tour to discover some hidden treasures of the capital city of italy, as well as some of its signature gourmet specialities.

Day 1: Arrive In Rome, Italy

Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this ancient capital. This evening, meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2: Rome

The “Eternal City” is steeped in history, vibrantly alive and exciting, and absolutely unique! included sightseeing with a Local Guide starts with St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. Other highlights are the iconic Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built, and Circus Maximus. An optional visit is available to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, world famous for Michelangelo’s fresco The Last Judgment.

Day 3: Rome – Pisa – Montecatini

Vistas of rolling hills, rows of cypress trees, terraced vineyards, olive groves, and rural villages form the backdrop of your journey through beautiful Tuscany. Stop in Pisa, and take a mini-train ride to see the Square Of Miracles and the amazing Leaning Tower. Arrive in Montecatini.

Day 4: Montecatini – Excursion to Florence

Today, enjoy an included excursion to Florence. Your Local Guide will show you the city highlights on the walking tour. You will see Piazza Santa Croce; beautiful Piazza Signoria; Palazzo Vecchio and its courtyard and Loggia dei Lanzi. To top it all, see Piazza del Duomo and its cathedral with the Giotto Campanile, and the magnificent East Doors of the Baptistry, known as the “Gates of Paradise”.

Day 5: Montecatini – La Spezia – Cinque Terre – Genoa

Travel towards La Spezia, where you’ll hop aboard the train to discover some of the five spectacular Cinque Terre villages. The beauty of the rugged cliffs and romantic fishing villages once inspired poet Lord Byron. From Levanto, head towards Genoa, birthplace of explorer Christopher Columbus.

Day 6: Genoa – Milan – Lake Maggiore

Today’s included guided tour is an excellent introduction to Genoa. A maze of squares and alleys, the city grew around the port, a natural inlet, and boasts the largest medieval historical centre in Europe. Next, head north into the plains of Lombardy, and stop in Milan to marvel at its magnificent gothic Duomo. Then, continue to Baveno on Lake Maggiore.

Day 7: Lake Maggiore – Excursion to Lugano, Switzerland

Time to relax and get to know Lake Maggiore, one of italy’s largest lakes, located on the very edge of Alpine Switzerland. On clear days, you can see the peaks of the Alps. Take advantage of the included excursion to visit Lugano in italian-speaking Swiss Canton Ticino.

Day 8: Lake Maggiore – Verona – Venice Area

Travel across the Po River plain, and stop in the romantic city of Verona for some time at leisure, marvelling at the Roman Arena, shopping, or tasting some of the excellent local wines. Continue to the Venice area.

Day 9: Venice

Venice is more like a romantic film set than a real-life city, with its crisscrossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and piazzas. The included orientation starts with a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square, and is followed by time at leisure and a chance to watch Venetian Glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. Don’t miss out on the optional gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you.

Day 10: Venice Area – Ravenna – Assisi – Assisi Area

Enjoy an interesting drive southward right across the Po Delta to Ravenna, renowned for its treasure of Byzantine mosaics, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Continue to Assisi, enclosed by ramparts and little changed since the Middle Ages. This is the town of the deeply mystical and poetic St. Francis. See the Basilica Of St. Francis with its famous frescoes by Giotto, with history brought to life by a Local Guide. Overnight in the beautiful area of Assisi, in the heart of Umbria.

Day 11: Assisi Area Pompeii – Sorrento Area

Travel to Pompeii, where time stopped for the rich, aristocratic town with the terrible eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. On the included guided visit, see the remains of luxurious villas, temples, theatre, and forum. Carry on to Sorrento, set on a plateau above the waters of the Bay of Naples. Wander the winding streets lined with shops and stalls, and sit with a glass of wine, absorbing the easy-going lifestyle of this charming resort.

Day 12: Sorrento Area – Boat trip to Capri

Enjoy a day trip to the legendary island, surrounded by a rocky coastline where the crashing sea has formed awe-inspiring caves. Day 13: Neapolitan Riviera – Rome

Today, enjoy time at leisure or visit Positano on our exciting optional excursion, before returning to Rome.

Enchanting Southern Italy

Day 1: Naples – Pompeii – Paestum

After we’ve met the group, a local guide will lead us into the labyrinthine streets of Naples’ historic centre in search of the Cappella Sansevero – the home of the Veiled Christ, one of the finest sculptures in the world. The afternoon will transport us back in time, with a visit to one of the world’s most famous archaeological wonders: Pompeii. Tonight, we’ll clink glasses over a welcome dinner in World Heritage-Listed Paestum.

Hotel: Il Granaio dei Casabella or similar

Day 2: Paestum – Minori

Today we’ve an appointment at Tenuta Seliano – an authentic farm-inn – where we’ll be lucky enough to visit the buffaloes and watch the owner make light, fresh mozzarella. We’ll then take a guided tour of Paestum before returning to the farm – and a kitchen piled high with fresh local produce. Time for a cooking lesson! Our hard work will be rewarded as we tuck into our own creations at lunch with the host family.Then: we’ll end the day in Minori, our base for the next five days.

Day 3: Minori – Ravello – Tramonti Minori

This morning we’ll make stops at the grand Villa Rufolo (the historical centre of Ravello) and the splendid Villa Cimbrone – before moving on to a lemon grove for an afternoon with a zesty twist! After learning how the lemons are grown, we’ll dive into a tasting spread of limoncello, lemon salad and of course, lemon gelato. Later, dinner will be a group affair.

Day 4: Minori – Amalfi – Positano – Minori

Today’s first stop, Amalfi, will be nothing short of wow-inducing. After taking in the sights on a short walking tour, we’ll venture onwards to the blissful town of Positano. This afternoon, we’ll return to Minori – where we’ll meet a local artisan and join a fun ceramic decorating session.

Day 5: Minori – Capri – Minori

The high life beckons today! After setting sail to the island of Capri, we’ll enjoy a ride on the charming funicular railway – which will whisk us away from the port and through bright, fragrant lemon groves. We’ll then take some free time to see and be seen among the exclusive boutiques, cafés and restaurants of Capri town before returning to Minori.

 Day 6: Minori – Maiori – Vietri – Cetara – Minori

Today we’ll add more pearls to our collection with visits to Maiori and Cetara. After spending the morning exploring, we’ll make tracks to Vietri sul Mare – which is famous for its hand-painted, vividly coloured ceramics. Back in Minori, we’ll enjoy some free time before coming together for a delicious farewell dinner.

Day 7: Minori – Palace of Caserta – Sant’agata De’ Goti – Naples

Today we’ll say goodbye to the Amalfi Coast and move on to the 18th-century Royal Palace of Caserta, the last great creation of the Italian Baroque period. Then: from the royal to the rustic! Our next stop will be a farmhouse in Sant’Agata de’ Goti, where we’ll taste fabulous Falanghina wines produced from black grapes grown in the Campania region. We’ll have time for one last Italian lunch before we return to Naples, where our adventure will come to a close.
