Day 1: Florence

Welcome to Florence, the heart of Tuscany and the perfect starting point for your Tuscan experience. Transfer to your hotel and relax in readiness for tomorrow’s departure. If not partaking in our pre-tour Florence city break, we suggest a visit to Florence Cathedral, Accademia or Uffizi Galleries or simply stroll the streets and take advantage of Florence’s famous leather markets.

Day 2: Florence – Pisa – Barga – Lucca

Depart for enchanting Pisa to view the Leaning Tower and the Piazza del Duomo, before enjoying lunch at an olive oil producing estate, paired with a tasting and workshop visit. In the afternoon, venture into Tuscany’s Garfagnana region, characterised by is mountainous and densely wooded terrain adjacent to the Northern Apennines. Visit the picturesque town of Barga, awarded an ‘orange flag’ as one the Best Villages of Italy. Afterward, check into your wonderful hotel within the protected walls of Lucca.

Day 3: Lucca

Enjoy a morning guided tour of Lucca, famous for its historic centre, medieval towers and best preserved ramparts in Italy. In the afternoon, embrace the opportunity to get lost in the town’s maze of streets, people watch in its famous Piazzas such as Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, Verdi, Napoleone and San Michele or wander along its ancient walls that now serve as a popular pedestrian promenade.

Day: 4 Lucca – Volterra – Monteriggioni – Chianti retreat

Visit the ancient Tuscan village of Volterra and enjoy a guided tour.An important Etruscan city, Volterra features beautiful winding cobbled streets and artisan craftsmanship, particularly alabaster carvings. The walled mountaintop town’s history dates to before the 7th century BC and contains structures from the Etruscan, Roman and Medieval periods. Afterward, have time to stroll around and enjoy an independent lunch before continuing to the unique medieval walled town of Monteriggioni. Afterward, venture into Chianti to your amazing rural retreat.

Day 5: Chianti retreat – Greve in Chianti – Castello di Brolio – Chianti retreat

B, LCommence your Chianti experience with a visit to Greve in Chianti that was settled well before the Etruscans. The town is one of the main towns in Chianti and is known for its triangular shaped main piazza and Franciscan monastery. Continue for a scrumptious lunch and tasting on a picturesque Chianti winery before returning to your hotel via a short visit to the gardens of Castello di Brolio.

Day 6: Chianti retreat – Radda in Chianti – Gaiole in Chianti – Castellina in Chianti – Chianti retreat

Enjoy the pleasure of a late morning start before visiting the delightful medieval town of Radda in Chianti. Located up on a hill and blessed with panoramic views, enjoy time to wander around and have an independent lunch before continuing to nearby Castello di Meleto for a castle tour and wine tasting on grounds surrounded by vines. Afterward, enjoy dinner in a local restaurant in the endearing Castellina in Chianti.

Day 7: Siena – San Gimignano – Monteriggioni – Siena

Bthe Museo Civico and Palazzo del Popolo. Enjoy time to explore the town at your leisure including perhaps, climbing the stairs of one of the towers for a fantastic view. In the early afternoon, depart for Siena, with its maze of narrow streets and alleys converging onto one of Europe’s most famous squares, the Piazza del Campo.

Day 8: Siena

BThis morning, enjoy a privately guided walking tour of Siena’s historic centre, declared a World Heritage Site for its preserved gothic appearance dating from the 12th to 15th century. The tour includes an explanation of Siena’s Contrade or family districts that have existed since the Middle Ages, as well as visits to Siena Cathedral and Piazza del Campo, that hosts the twice yearly Palio horse race. The afternoon is at leisure to wander the cobbled streets of this amazing town.

Day 9: Siena – Pienza – Montalcino

Travel into the inspiring and amazing Val d’Orcia, a region of Tuscany characterised by gentle cultivated hills, gullies and picturesque villages that have inspired painters through the ages and which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural landscape. Visit Pienza, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterward, continue to the world’s most enchanting wine region for lunch and wine tasting at a renowned vineyard. Finish with a brief visit to the town of Montalcino and nearby Abbey of Sant’Antimo before checking into your wonderful retreat.

Day 10: Montalcino – Pitigliano – Sorano – Montalcino

BVisit two of Italy’s most picturesque villages Pitigliano and Sorano, in the south of Tuscany close to the border with Lazio. Both towns are built into ‘tuff’ bedrock that formed into steep hills from volcanic ash. Enjoy time to stroll both towns before returning to your hotel.

Day 11: Tuscan retreat – Florence

If not continuing with us in Florence, Cinque Terre or to the Amalfi Coast, return to Florence airport, train station for your ongoing journey.

Board the Eurostar Train to Paris. Here, you’ll be met by your Tour Director and luxury coach. Spend two nights in Paris.

Day 4: Paris

Paris is a world-class city with more familiar landmarks than almost any other city in the world. This morning, see these sites during the included city tour with a Local Guide. This evening, why not join an optional Parisian dinner?

Day 5: Paris – Lucerne Area, Switzerland

Fascinating, ever-changing scenery greets you today. Enjoy views of Fontainebleau Forest, the wine-growing area of Burgundy, prosperous farms, and tidy, half-timbered villages as you head through the alpine heart of Switzerland to the picture-book Lucerne area.

Day 6: Lucerne Area

One of Switzerland’s finest cities, Lucerne is nestled amid its snowcapped Alps, surrounded by its lake, and graced by the clear mountain waters of the Reuss River. The orientation includes the Lion Monument, erected in memory of the 800 Swiss Guards who defended Louis XVI and his wife. Also admire the famous wooden Chapel Bridge with its splendid frescoes. A selection of optional activities completes the day: a cable-car ride to the 3048-metre (10,000-foot) summit of Mount Titlis; a cruise on the fjord-like lake; and, of course, time to shop for an authentic Swiss watch.

Day 7: Lucerne Area – Verona, Italy – Venice Area

More wonderful alpine scenery awaits as you drive into the mountain ranges that surround the massive St. Gotthard Pass. Once through its great tunnel, start your scenic descent into the warmer and sunnier ambiance of Canton Ticino, then cross into Italy and drive through the Lombardy plains to Romeo and Juliet’s Verona, known as “Little Rome” for its splendid amphitheater still standing in its former glory. Overnight in the Venice area.

Day 8: Venice Area

Venice is more like a marvellous film set than a real-life city, with criss-crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and busy little piazzas. The orientation starts with a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square and is followed by a chance to watch Venetian Glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. Don’t miss out on the optional gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you.

Day 9: Venice Area – Florence – Montecatini

Travel south across the Apennines into the gentle and hilly countryside of Tuscany. Enjoy a guided walk through Florence to discover its Renaissance treasures, then continue to Montecatini for an overnight.

Day 10: Montecatini – Pisa – Rome

From Rome to London

Your journey begins with two overnights in the Italian capital of Rome and guided sightseeing that highlights the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square. Head north to see Pisa’s Leaning Tower and to Renaissance Florence, featuring sculpture-filled Signoria Square, Palazzo Vecchio, the Giotto Campanile, and the Brunelleschi Cupola in Piazza del Duomo. Day 6: Venice Area – Cortina – Innsbruck Area, Austria

Leave the plains of the Veneto region behind and drive northwards to spot the spectacular peaks of the Dolomites. Stop awhile in Cortina to enjoy the grand scenery. Later, cross over the Europa Bridge and Brenner Pass into Austria to reach Innsbruck in time to see the famous Golden Roof, emblem of the city.

Day 7: Innsbruck Area – Liechtenstein – Lucerne, Switzerland

Drive through the valleys and villages of the mountainous Tyrol to the Arlberg Tunnel, descending into Switzerland. Stop briefly in Vaduz, Liechtenstein’s capital. Absorb the majestic alpine scenery and glimpses of Lake Walen on the way to Lucerne.

Day 2: Amsterdam Area

Enjoy sightseeing in Amsterdam with a Local Guide pointing out the city highlights, as well as a Canal Cruise to see the town from water level. Then, watch the cutting and polishing of precious stones at a Diamond Centre. Time in the afternoon to explore on your own or join an optional excursion.

Day 3: Amsterdam Area – Mannheim Area, Germany

Travelling through Germany, choose an included scenic drive along the shores of the Rhine or, even more thrilling, the optional Rhine cruise with vistas of the Lorelei rock, hilltop castles, half-timbered wine villages, and terraced vineyards. Spend the night in the Mannheim area.

Day 4: Mannheim Area – Innsbruck Area, Austria

Drive through Baden-Wuttenberg to the foot of the Alps to visit King Ludwig’s magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany’s fairytale castle. Carry on into the verdant Austrian Tyrol.

Day 5: Innsbruck Area – Venice Area, Italy

Cross the border into Italy to the unique floating city of Venice. This afternoon’s orientation includes a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square, followed by a visit to a traditional Glassblowing Workshop. Day 6: Venice Area – Assisi – Rome

An interesting drive southward, cutting across the Po Delta, then through the gentle Umbrian hills to medieval Assisi, where St. Francis was born in 1182. Visit the world-famous Basilica with its beautiful frescoes by Giotto, then head for Rome.

Day 7: Rome

The “Eternal City” is steeped in history, vibrantly alive and exciting, and absolutely unique! Included sightseeing with a Local Guide starts with St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. Other highlights are the iconic Colosseum, the largest amphitheater ever built and Circus Maximus.

Day 8: Rome – Florence – Montecatini

Drive on the Highway of the Sun to Florence. This Renaissance gem and city of the Medicis will keep you enthralled for a whole day. Don’t miss out on the included walking tour with a Local Guide that features most of the city highlights. You will see Piazza Santa Croce; beautiful Piazza Signoria; Palazzo Vecchio; Loggia dei Lanzi; and, to top it all, Piazza del Duomo and its cathedral with the Giotto Campanile, and the magnificently carved East Door of the Baptistry, known as the “Gate of Paradise.” Overnight in the spa town of Montecatini.

Day 9: Montecatini – Pisa – Milan – Lake Como

Hop on a mini train to the Square of Miracles in Pisa and admire the curious Leaning Tower. Journey northward through the Tuscan hills and across the Apennines to Milan to see the majestic gothic Duomo. Continue to the shores of romantic Lake Como.

Day 10: Lake Como – Lugano, Switzerland – Lucerne Area

Leave beautiful Lake Como and cross the border into Switzerland for a stop in Lugano in Italian-speaking Ticino. Continue north, and once through Gotthard Tunnel, see more magnificent alpine scenery as you descend to the shores of Lake Lucerne.

Day 11: Lucerne Area – Interlaken – Lausanne Area

Spend some time in beautiful Lucerne. Later, stop in idyllic Interlaken and follow the shoreline of Lake Thun. A few more miles to Lausanne, overlooking Lake Geneva.

Day 12: Lausanne Area – Beaune, France – Paris

Enjoy vistas of famous vineyards on the way to Beaune. Visit the medieval Burgundian town, known all over the world for its wine production. Take the autoroute to Paris. Tonight, maybe an exciting optional cabaret show?

Explore the iconic and unexpected sights of Paris with your Local Specialist, which will take you past the grand Champs Élysées and Arc de Triomphe, where we pay tribute to the brave men and women who fought for France. Visit the world-famous Notre Dame Cathedral and enjoy a stroll through the Latin Quarter. Spend the rest of the afternoon on your very own journey of discovery. Stroll along the Seine admiring the work of artists who have set up their easels next to the river, shop in the Marais district or find a cosy bistro with great views of the city. This evening, consider indulging in the colourful nightlife of Paris and attend a famous cabaret show.

Day 3: Paris – Beaune – Geneva

A patchwork of colours provide a beautiful backdrop for our journey through France’s rolling countryside to the Burgundy wine region. We visit the region’s capital, Beaune, renowned for its 15th-century Hôtel-Dieu, to admire its colourful geometrically patterned Burgundy tiled roof. Next, we cross the border to Geneva where we will spend the next two nights.

Day 4: Geneva

Explore the City of Peace today – the dramatic Alps and scenic Lake Geneva provide the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable morning of sightseeing. Join your Travel Director on an orientation of this small city to view the Reformation Monument, and see the Old Town, United Nations Building and Red Cross headquarters. Continue along the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva, arriving in the celebrated Chexbres wine region where we will ‘Connect With Locals’ at a Be My Guest lunch. Delve into Vaud traditions and generations of expert winemaking at the 15th-century vineyards of Cave Champ de Clos. Returning to Geneva, the rest of the day is at leisure. Wander through the Botanical Gardens and admire the gigantic outdoor flower clock made with colourful blooms that change seasonally.

Day 5: Geneva – Grasse – Nice

The idyllic playground of southern France takes centre stage over the next two days as we journey to Nice, the jewel of the French Riviera. ‘Dive Into Culture’ and let the heady scents of French perfume infuse your senses during a visit to the Fragonard Perfumery in the village of Grasse. Here you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the art of creating beautiful fragrances.

Day 6: Nice

Soak up the sophistication of Nice, which for long has lured sun-worshipping aristocrats and tourists in search of a quiet seaside sojourn. Against the backdrop of colourful Italian and French façades, we drive along the Promenade des Anglais and see Place Massena during our orientation of the Bay of Angels. Spend the rest of the day discovering the Old Town. Consider a quiet coffee at one of the sidewalk cafés or dip your toes in the warm Mediterranean waters.

Day 7: Nice – Monaco – Pisa – Florence

Travel along the southern coastline of France, stopping at the Principality of Monaco to see the famous Prince’s Palace of Monaco, built as a Genoese fortress and home to the Grimaldi family since the 13th century. Cross the border into Italy and visit Pisa and its Square of Miracles to view the Leaning Tower and Baptistery, said to be the largest in Italy. We arrive in the Cradle of the Renaissance this evening where we will enjoy dinner at our hotel.

Day 8: Florence Sightseeing – Venice

This morning, join a Local Specialist who will reveal the story of the wealthy Medici family who influenced the art and architecture of what became one of the cultural centres of the world. You’ll visit the Piazza della Signoria with its beautiful statues and palazzi and enjoy views of the magnificent marble Duomo and Ponte Vecchio on whose arches were built the shops of successful merchants 400 years ago. Learn about the quality and workmanship of one of this city’s historic industries at a demonstration of Florentine leathercraft. Then, drive across the Veneto plain to Venice, where you’ll spend the next two nights.

Day 9: Venice

Glide through the turquoise waters of the Venetian Lagoon by private launch to Guidecca Island. ‘Dive Into Culture’ and witness the centuries-old Venetian tradition of glassblowing. See the Bridge of Sighs and the ornate Doge’s Palace before spending the afternoon at leisure exploring the city’s labyrinthine alleys and ornate bridges that span almost 200 canals. Day 10: Venice – Rome

Today we cross the picturesque Apennine Mountains and journey through the rolling gold and green landscape of Tuscany and past the hilltop towns of Orvieto and Orte, arriving later in Rome, the Eternal City.

Day 11: Rome

Join a Local Specialist to uncover the treasures of a city whose history spans millennia. Venture to St. Peter’s Basilica to view Michelangelo’s Pietà, hewn from the most ‘perfect’ block of Carrara marble, and travel across the Tiber River into Ancient Rome. Here you will see the Circus Maximus, which once played host to exhilarating chariot races, and view the Colosseum where brave gladiators and slaves met their fate. This evening we exchange stories about our epic journey through Europe with newfound friends and our Travel Director at a Farewell Dinner.

Day 12: Depart Rome

Day 1: Arrive In Paris, France

Welcome to Paris! At 5 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions and leave the hotel for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, followed by an orientation drive for a first impression of this magnificent city.

Day 2: Paris

In the morning, an optional excursion is available to the lavish Palace and Gardens of Versailles. Guided sightseeing features Paris’ main highlights, such as the Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Champs-Elysees, and a Seine Cruise with spectacular views of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. Tonight, you may wish to join the optional dinner and how at the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret as a proper au revoir, Paris.

Day 3: Paris – Lucerne, Switzerland

Enjoy a scenic drive past Fontainebleau Forest and into Burgundy, with views of impressive castles and vineyards on your way to the Swiss Alps. In picturesque Lucerne, follow your Tour Director for a pleasant walk and admire Thorwaldsen’s impressive Lion Monument, dedicated to the Swiss Guards who protected the Royal House of France during the French Revolution, walk along ornate patrician houses of the walled Old Town, then cross the famous covered Chapel Bridge to the Jesuit Church, the first large baroque church built in Switzerland on the north side of the Alps.

Day 4: Lucerne – Lugano

Morning at leisure. Why not climb Mount Pilatus? Later, admire the towering majesty of the Swiss Alps and St. Gotthard on the way to subtropical Lugano in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. To truly appreciate splendid Lake Lugano, an optional boat cruise, followed by dinner at a traditional “grotto” restaurant is available.

Day 5: Lugano – Pisa, Italy – Florence

Pass the commercial capital of Milan and turn towards the Mediterranean Sea. Arrive in Pisa, and marvel at its amazing Leaning Tower. Day 6: Florence – Rome

Meet your Local Guide, and visit the Academy Of Fine Arts with Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Continue to Rome, the “Eternal City.”

Day 1: London – Paris

Leaving the bright city lights of London behind us, we cross the English Channel by ferry from Dover to Calais, travelling across the World War I battlefields w here so many brave souls lost their lives. We catch a glimpse of the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge before arriving in Paris. Later, we join our Travel Director and travel companions for a Welcome Reception including dinner and drinks and an evening drive to embrace the energy of this vibrant city.

Join a Local Specialist for a drive along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and view the Eiffel Tower. Pay tribute to the brave Swiss Guards who lost their lives defending King Louis XVI in the French Revolution and see the famous mournful Lion Monument. Day 26: Amsterdam

Enjoy an orientation of Amsterdam and spend the rest of the day exploring the city on foot, by bike or tram. Day 1: London – Amsterdam

Bid farewell to England and the mystical White Cliffs of Dover as you board your ferry to France. Journey through the Belgian and Dutch countryside bound for Amsterdam, where you’ll spend a memorable evening exploring the capital’s scenic canals on a Welcome Reception cruise with your fellow travellers and Travel Director.

Day 2: Amsterdam

Explore the maritime history, tree-lined canals and gabled façades of Amsterdam on an orientation of the city’s 17th-century canal ring district. ‘Dive Into Culture’ and learn about Dutch diamond heritage and traditions during a visit to a diamond-polishing factory. Enjoy the rich aromas and flavours of Dutch cheese this afternoon in Volendam, where you’ll ‘Dive Into Culture’ yet again and gain insights into traditional cheese-making and the crafting of Holland’s characteristic wooden clogs.

Day 3: Amsterdam – Rhine Cruise – Heidelberg – Rhineland

We cross the German border and board a cruise in Boppard. Journeying along the mighty Rhine past vineyard-clad hills and medieval castles, we disembark in St. Goar, avoiding the allure of the legendary Lorelei. We travel to the university city of Heidelberg to admire its magnificent ruined sandstone castle which stands imposingly overlooking the Neckar River.

Day 4: Rhineland – Munich – Innsbruck

Arriving in the Bavarian capital of Munich today, we see the Hofbrauhaus, City Hall and iconic Marienplatz with its Glockenspiel. Crossing the Austrian border, we arrive in Innsbruck for an orientation that will include views of St. Jakob’s Cathedral and Emperor Maximilian I’s glittering Golden Roof. This evening, consider a rousing evening of Tyrolean entertainment.

Day 5: Innsbruck – Venice

Cross the snow-capped Alps to Italy today, travelling via the Brenner Pass to Venice, where you will join your travel companions for a delicious Regional Meal at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Venice

‘Dive Into Culture’ and gain insights into the centuries-old tradition of Venetian glassblowing. Wander along the Baroque façades of its Old City and admire the medieval castle, the City Hall and Cathedral of St. Nicholas, with its exquisite 18th century frescoes. Journey across the Croatian border and via Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes National Park, where you’ll join a Local Specialist for a guided walking tour. Connect with the exquisite beauty of this UNESCO-listed natural wonder, admiring the cascade of spectacular waterfalls and crystal-clear waters reflecting green, grey and blue against the lush landscape. Witness panoramic views over the park from Tomicevo Pgledalo, then settle in for your overnight stay amidst this stunning backdrop.

Day 11: Plitvice Lakes – Dubrovnik

Journey south along the picture-perfect Dalmatian coast, past seaside villages to the ancient city of Dubrovnik – its terracotta rooftops appear to tumble into the waters of the cerulean Adriatic.

Day 12: Dubrovnik

Stroll through the marble streets of the Pearl of the Adriatic on a Small Group Sightseeing tour with a Local Specialist. Admire the Rector’s Palace, Onofrio’s Fountain and the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries. Consider taking an afternoon boat ride to the seaside oasis of Cavtat.

Day 13: Dubrovnik – Tirana

Journey to Kotor, an enchanting medieval city, perched on the deepest natural fjord-like bay in the Mediterranean. Travel through Montenegro into Albania and overnight in its colourful capital of Tirana. Explore the previously communist-dominated capital with a Local Specialist, including such highlights as the Skanderbeg square and the Palace of Culture. Wander up the main boulevard and see the Prime Ministry building, the Presidential office and the Pyramid Building.

Day 14: Tirana – Kalambaka

We travel to Greece, enjoying views of the scenic Plains of Thessaly en route to Kalambaka with its gravity-defying Meteora monasteries that cling impressively to immense, rounded rock towers.

Day 15: Kalambaka – Delphi – Athens

We cross the fertile Thessaly region and see the battle site at Thermopylae, where the heroic Leonidas and brave Spartans battled against the invading Persians. We arrive at the centre of the world and Mount Parnossos, joining a Local Specialist to explore the ancient sanctuary of Delphi and seat of the most important oracle in the ancient classical world. Wander through the centuries-old ruins of the Sacred Way to the 5th-century Temple of Apollo and marvel at the site where athletes once competed in the Pythian Games held in honour of Apollo and the Arts. We arrive in Athens this evening.

Day 16: Athens

Spend the day discovering the birthplace of democracy – a centre for the arts, learning and philosophy. Stroll through the tiny, colourful alleyways of Plaka, join Athenians for a noisy coffee stop at an open-air café.

Today is yours to embrace the spirited atmosphere of the Greek capital. Venture by funicular to Mount Lycabettus for the most magnificent views of the sprawling city below, watch the pageantry of the changing of the Evzoni or join an Optional Experience.

Day 18: Athens

Soak up the sights, sounds and smells of the bustling Central Market this morning, admire the remarkable antiquities and remnants of ancient Greece at the fascinating Acropolis Museum or wander through the colourful stalls of Monastiraki Square on your final day exploring Athens.

Day 19: Athens Sightseeing – At Sea

Travel to the heart of ancient Athens, back to a time of philosophers and great thinkers. Join a Local Specialist to marvel at the ancient Acropolis, see the Parthenon, dedicated to the goddess Athena, and view the stadium where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. We cross the Corinth Canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea and board our overnight ferry in Patras en route to Italy.

Day 20: Ancona – Assisi

Spend today worshipping the sunshine, as we sail up the dramatic Adriatic coast towards Ancona. This evening we arrive in the mystical medieval town of Assisi, the home and final resting place of beloved St. Francis.

Day 21: Assisi Sightseeing – Sorrento

Join your Local Specialist today and enjoy a sightseeing tour to see the Basilica of St. Francis. We pass the Benedictine Abbey in Monte Cassino before arriving in the sophisticated seaside retreat of Sorrento.

Day 22: Sorrento – Pompeii – Rome

We join a Local Specialist in Pompeii to hear the story of this remarkable ancient Roman settlement buried under ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Continuing through the green and golden countryside of Lazio, we arrive in Rome, the Eternal City this evening.

Day 23: Rome

Visit the centre of Christianity, the Vatican City. ‘Dive Into Culture’ with your Local Specialist and ascend the spiral staircase designed by famous architect Donato Bramante. Then, admire Michelangelo’s exquisite frescoed ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, before crossing the Tiber to visit the Colosseum. Spend the afternoon as you wish. Sit on the Spanish Steps or indulge in a cappuccino on the Piazza Navona. This evening, we enjoy a delicious Regional Meal in Rome.

Day 24: Rome – Florence

Journeying north through the beautiful landscapes of Umbria and Tuscany, we arrive in the Renaissance city of Florence. Join a Local Specialist for a sightseeing tour of some of the city’s iconic sites. View Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery with its renowned bronze doors, and visit Piazza della Signoria. Learn about the quality and workmanship of one of this city’s historic industries at a demonstration of Florentine leathercraft.

Day 25: Florence – Engelberg

Travel north across the snow-capped Alps into Switzerland, past beautiful Lake Lugano, continuing along the scenic St. Gotthard route into central Switzerland. We spend the next two nights in the popular winter sports resort town of Engelberg.

Day 26: Lucerne

The lakeside setting of Lucerne is ours to explore today. Pay tribute to the brave Swiss Guard at the Lion Monument and admire the wooden Chapel Bridge with its exquisite ceiling. Spend the rest of the day ambling through the medieval streets with their characteristic painted façades, or perhaps embark on an Operational Experience up one of the surrounding peaks.

Day 27: Engelberg – Paris

We cross into France and traverse the rolling Burgundy vineyards en route to the glittering capital of Paris. The City of Light shines brightly tonight as you explore the grand boulevards on your terms. Enjoy dinner at a cosy bistro or consider attending a colourful Parisian Cabaret performance.

Join a Local Specialist today for an informative sightseeing tour of the French capital. Drive along the Champs Élysées and see the Place de la Concorde. Day 29: Paris – London

An optional visit is available to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, world famous for Michelangelo’s impressive fresco of The Last Judgment.

Day 3: Rome – Orvieto – Siena

Journey to charming Orvieto in the Umbria region to visit its black basalt and yellow limestone CATHEDRAL, an excellent example of Italian Gothic architecture. Reach Siena, with time to visit this jewel of Tuscany. Sit in one of the cafés surrounding the Piazza del Campo and admire one of Italy’s most unique squares, famed all over the world for its medieval-style Palio horse race.

Day 4: Siena – San Gimignano – Greve –  Montecatini

Arrive in San Gimignano and discover one of Tuscany’s greatest attractions. Its medieval squares, town walls, streets, alleyways, and 14 towers are truly unique. Next, head into the very heart of the Chianti vineyards, where Chianti Classico wines are produced. Stop in Greve for a wine tasting at the Vicchiomaggio wine estate. Arrive in Montecatini in time to join the optional Tuscan dinner outing.

Day 5: Montecatini – Excursion To Florence

This Renaissance gem and city of the Medicis will keep you enthralled the entire day. Wander at leisure and admire the city’s timeless beauty. Travel towards La Spezia, where you’ll hop aboard the train to discover some of the five spectacular Cinque Terre villages. The beauty of the rugged cliffs and romantic fishing villages once inspired poet Lord Byron. From Levanto, head towards Genoa, birthplace of explorer Christopher Columbus.

Day 6: Genoa – Milan – Lake Maggiore

Today’s included guided tour is an excellent introduction to Genoa. A maze of squares and alleys, the city grew around the port, a natural inlet, and boasts the largest medieval historical center in Europe. Some of the highlights include the remains of the city’s 17th-century fortifications. Next, head north into the plains of Lombardy, and stop in Milan to marvel at its magnificent gothic Duomo. Then, continue to Baveno on Lake Maggiore.
