Day 1: Arrive In Ljubljana, Slovenia

Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore some of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, with the help of the CosmosGO application. Tonight, meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2: Ljubljana – Postojna Caves – Zadar, Croatia

Undoubtedly, one of the highlights on this tour is a visit to the Postojna Caves. Your included visit is comprised of a Train Ride and a walking tour, which will allow you to see what are possibly Europe’s most extensive and best-known caves. Then, into Croatia, travelling along the coast to Zadar. Over the centuries, Zadar was ruled by Venetians, Austro/Hungarians, by italy after WWi, and today it belongs to Croatia. Day 3: Zadar – Split – Dubrovnik

Drive south to Split to visit with a Local Guide the former hometown of Roman Emperor Diocletian, his Palace, and Jupiter Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See more of the lovely Dalmatian Coast before reaching Dubrovnik.

Day 4: Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the best-preserved Croatian medieval city and the liveliest in Dalmatia. Visit the Franciscan Monastery and the Rector’s Palace, where the Local Guide will give you a full commentary, including the history of this beautifully preserved medieval architectural wonder-a popular filming location for TV series and movies, including The Last Jedi, James Bond, and Game of Thrones. Day 5: Dubrovnik – Neretva Gorges – Mostar, Bosnia – Bosniaherzegovina – Sarajevo

Enjoy a scenic drive into the rugged beauty of the Neretva Valley. Stop in Mostar, where a Local Guide shows you the Turkish Quarter with the Turkish House, the Mosque, and the reconstructed 16th-century bridge. On to Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina and certainly the most Turkish-looking city in the Balkans-famous for its mosques, markets, and bazaars. Day 1: Arrive In Zagreb, Croatia

Welcome to Zagreb! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Zagreb – Ljubljana, Slovenia

Discover the Lower and medieval Upper Town of the capital of Croatia, with a Local Guide, and admire the Austro-Hungarian architecture such as the Parliament, Stone Gate, the Archbishop’s Palace, and more, plus a visit to the majestic Cathedral. Enter Slovenia and arrive in its capital, Ljubljana.

Day 3: Ljubljana

Guided sightseeing features the main sights like the medieval castle, the impressive City Hall, St. Nicholas’ Cathedral, and a visit to the Town Hall’s Inner Court. Balance of the day is at leisure to join the locals along the banks of the Ljubljanica River or to just relax.

Day 4: Ljubljana – Postojna – Opatija, Croatia

Enjoy A Guided Walk Through The Spectacular Postojna CAVES and ride a mini-train. The cave was discovered in the 17th century, opened to the public in 1819, and is considered the most beautiful in Slovenia. Continue to the famous seaside resort of Opatija.

Day 5: Opatija – Excursion to Pula

Take a scenic drive through the Istrian Peninsula to Pula, where your Local Guide will show you the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi, dating back to the 1st century. Then, visit the perfectly preserved Amphitheatre and the Temple Of Augustus. Return to Opatija and immerse yourself in the relaxed atmosphere of the resort. Walk along the seaside promenade and take pictures of the famous Maiden with the Seagull.

Day 6: Opatija – Plitvice – Zadar

Head to Plitvice and join your Local Guide for a walking tour of the National Park, with its lakes, waterfalls, and forests. Back to the coastline, arrive at your beautifully-located hotel, surrounded by fragrant pine woods.

Day 7: Zadar – Trogir – Split

A guided walking tour to the main square gives you a good impression of this city with its turbulent history of fighting off the Venetians, crusaders, and Turks over the centuries. Don’t miss the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun. The next two cities are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: explore picturesque Trogir, founded by Greek colonists and a major port until Roman times, and then continue to Split, the ancient Spalato. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8: Split

Walk through the labyrinth of medieval streets within the walls of Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a well-preserved fortress and a living part of the Old Town, with your Local Guide. Also see the Mausoleum, the Cathedral of St. Domnius, and the Temple of Jupiter with its impressive basement halls-a filming location in Game of Thrones.

Day 9: Split – Bosnia – Herzegovina – Dubrovnik, Croatia

Follow the Dalmatian coast, heading south to Dubrovnik. Enjoy a walking tour with a Local Guide to see the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries, and the impressive ramparts, erected during the Crusades to protect the town against land attacks. Also visit the 15th-century Rector’s Palace, built in gothic style, with renaissance and baroque elements, harmoniously combined.

Day 1: Arrive Ljubljana

Tucked between Italy, Austria and Croatia, Slovenia maybe small but delivers big with beautiful alpine villages, cliffside castles, emerald lakes and a stunning coastline. On arrival, check into your wonderful hotel and relax. The EU dubbed Ljubljana the Green Capital of Europe for its pedestrian focused centre. This together with cafés along the banks of the Ljubljana River, beautiful Plečnik designed buildings, museums and street atmosphere makes for a vibrant party feel.

Day 2: Ljubljana

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Ljubljana’s main attractions in the old town including the Kresija Building, Robba Fountain, Ljubljana Cathedral, Ljubljana Castle, Town Square, Cobblers Bridge, Triple Bridge, Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, Prešeren Square and Dragon Bridge. The afternoon is available at leisure. Options include the National Museum of Slovenia or The Museum of Modern Art.

Day: 3 Ljubljana – Žiče – Maribor – Ljubljana

Enjoy a full day excursion into the countryside. Visit Žiče Charterhouse, an ancient 12th century monastery. Explore the ruins and visit the exhibition. Continue into the Štajerska wine region. The area surrounding Maribor is known for its aromatic whites. Enjoy a delicious lunch and tasting at a winery before continuing to Maribor, a medieval pedestrian village. Visit the Main Square, Cathedral and ‘Stara Trta’, the world’s oldest vine at 400 years, before returning to Ljubljana.

Day 4: Ljubljana – Škofja Loka – Lake Bled

Visit the town of Škofja Loka to explore Loka Castle, Loka Museum and the town square’s famous pastel-hued 16th century houses. Continue to Lake Bled, set in a picturesque location surrounded by mountains and forests. On arrival, visit Bled Castle, the oldest in Slovenia dating to 1011AD. The rest of the day is available at leisure to absorb the breathtaking scenery.

Day 5: Lake Bled – Vintgar Gorge – Kranjska Gora – Lake Bled

Today, discover more of Slovenia’s stunning natural beauty. Visit the Triglav National Park and the 1600 metre Vintgar Gorge which features sheer canyon walls between 50 and 100 metres in height. Also visit the picturesque Šum Waterfall, the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. Continue to the alpine resort of Kranjska Gora for an independent lunch before crossing the panoramic Vršič Pass to visit the gorgeous emerald green Lake Jasna surrounded by stunning alps.

Day 6: Lake Bled – Predjama Castle – Škocjan Caves – Piran

Depart Lake Bled for a tour of Predjama Castle, built within a cave mouth to make access difficult. The structure dates to the 13th century and features a hidden passageway. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Škocjan Caves. International scientists recognise the exceptional significance of the caves and have declared them one of the natural treasures of the world. The caves were inhabited in prehistoric times; are one of the largest known underground canyons in the world; it contains a microclimate hosting a special ecosystem; and aesthetically is naturally beautiful. After your guided tour, continue to the charming seaside town of Piran.

Day 7: Piran

Enjoy the day at leisure in Piran, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. The old town is one of the best preserved historical towns on the Adriatic. Stroll the narrow streets within the old town wall, through the main square, along the pier and through the markets.

Day 8: Piran – Lipica – Ljubljana

Visit the charming village of Lipica and enjoy a guided tour of the renowned Lipica Stud Farm, an establishment that first bred Lipizzaner horses back in the 16th century. The farm visit includes trail riding, carriage rides, museum tours and stud performances. Afterward, return to Ljubljana or Piran for your onward journey. Options include a departing catamaran from Piran to Venice.

This morning will include a sightseeing tour of Ljubljana before departing for the Karst Region in the south. At Postojna Caves you will experience the adventure of exploring one of Europe’s largest cave systems by miniature electric train. After this tour you will next visit a nearby wine producer for Teran wine and prosciutto tasting. Your day continues with a drive to Piran located on the beautiful Slovenian coast for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Piran – Portoroz – Nova Gorika

A morning tour of Venetian-inspired Piran is followed by a visit to the nearby resort of Portoroz. Continue to the hilly region of Gorisca Brda. Discover the charming town of Smartno and have dinner at a local tourist farm. Overnight in Nova Gorica.

Day 4: Nova GorikaSoca Valley – Bled

Drive along the emerald-green Soca River to Kobarid, featured in Hemmingway’s Farewell to Arms and visit the town’s World War I museum. In the afternoon, arrive at Slovenia’s gem, the idyllic town of Bled situated in the midst of the Julian Alps.

Day 5: Bled

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of beautiful Lake Bled and visit its imposing castle perched high on the surrounding cliffs. On return to the lake shore taste the famous Bled cream cake. In the afternoon take a tour to one of Slovenia’s oldest towns, Skofja Loka, dominated by its medieval castle. After the sightseeing tour visit Nace homestead and taste some of the local products.

Day 6: Bled – Bohinj – Bled

Today take an excursion to idyllic Lake Bohinj, equal in beauty to the popular Lake Bled. Enjoy a relaxing walk along the lake shore and take a cable car to Mt. Vogel from where you will admire the Julian Alps. Enroute, visit the Shepherd’s Museum where some of Slovenia’s top quality cheese is produced. Take in the magnificent vistas of the valley and mountains at Lake Bohinj before returning to Bled for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Bled

Your Experience Slovenia tour concludes after breakfast with a departure transfer to Ljubljana or Venice Airport (approx 3.5 hour drive) for your onward journey.
