A full day to savour our rich program of optional activities: take a panoramic tour of London’s landmarks, visit the Tower of London, or choose an excursion to Windsor Castle. Tonight, how about dinner followed by a leisurely cruise on the Thames River?

Day 3: London – Brussels, Belgium

Transfer to the railway station and board the Eurostar Train to Brussels. Here, switch to your comfortable motorcoach for an orientation drive of the Belgian capital.

Day 4: Brussels – Rhine Cruise, Germany –  Frankfurt Area

Journey into Germany to the shores of the mighty Rhine to enjoy a scenic Cruise. Then, on to the Frankfurt area for an overnight.

Day 5: Frankfurt Area – Romantic Road – Innsbruck Area, Austria

Today’s highlight is a drive along the Romantic Road, through towns and villages with medieval towered gates and battlements, squares of half-timbered houses, and richly decorated fountains. Spend some time in the centre of Rothenburg before heading to the Innsbruck area for an overnight.

Day 6: Innsbruck Area – Brenner Pass – Venice Area, Italy

Take in the breathtaking scenery of the Alps while crossing the Europa Bridge and Brenner Pass. Time at leisure to soak up the magical atmosphere of this unique city. At a Glassblowing Workshop, experience this Venetian art.

Day 7: Venice Area – Verona – Lucerne Area, Switzerland

Stop in fascinating Verona for a stroll in the old city. Cross the Swiss border and enjoy the idyllic views of Canton Ticino, then on to the breathtaking beauty of Lake Lucerne.

Day 8: Lucerne Area – Dijon, France

Day 5: Paris – Lucerne Area, Switzerland

Fascinating, ever-changing scenery greets you today. Enjoy views of Fontainebleau Forest, the wine-growing area of Burgundy, prosperous farms, and tidy, half-timbered villages as you head through the alpine heart of Switzerland to the picture-book Lucerne area.

Day 6: Lucerne Area

One of Switzerland’s finest cities, Lucerne is nestled amid its snowcapped Alps, surrounded by its lake, and graced by the clear mountain waters of the Reuss River. The orientation includes the Lion Monument, erected in memory of the 800 Swiss Guards who defended Louis XVi and his wife. Also admire the famous wooden Chapel Bridge with its splendid frescoes. A selection of optional activities completes the day: a cable-car ride to the 10,000-foot summit of Mount Titlis; a cruise on the fjord-like lake; and, of course, time to shop for an authentic Swiss watch.

Day 7: Lucerne Area – Verona, Italy – Venice Area

More wonderful alpine scenery awaits as you drive into the mountain ranges that surround the massive St. Gotthard Pass. Once through its great tunnel, start your scenic descent into the warmer and sunnier ambiance of Canton Ticino, then cross into italy and drive through the Lombardy plains to Romeo and Juliet’s Verona, known as “Little Rome” for its splendid arena still standing in its former glory. Overnight in the Venice area.

Day 8: Venice Area

Venice is more like a marvellous film set than a real-life city, with crisscrossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and busy little piazzas. Your orientation starts with a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square and is followed by a chance to watch Venetian Glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. A range of optional excursions is available.

Day 9: Venice Area – Florence – Montecatini

Travel south across the Apennines into the gentle and hilly countryside of Tuscany. Enjoy a guided walk through Florence to discover its Renaissance treasures, then continue to Montecatini.

Day 10: Montecatini – Pisa – Rome

This morning in Pisa, hop on a mini-train to see the famed Square Of Miracles and to view the Leaning Tower. Then, journey south to Rome. Day 6: Venice Area – Cortina – Innsbruck Area, Austria

Leave the plains of the Veneto region behind and drive northward to spot the spectacular peaks of the Dolomites. Stop awhile in Cortina to enjoy the grand scenery. Later, cross over the Europa Bridge and Brenner Pass into Austria to reach innsbruck in time to see the famous golden roof, emblem of the city.

Day 7: Innsbruck Area – Liechtenstein – Lucerne, Switzerland

Day 7: Rome

Day 11: Lucerne Area – Interlaken – Lausanne Area

Day 12: Lausanne Area – Beaune, France – Paris

Welcome to Amsterdam! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Amsterdam

Meet your Local Guide and hear about the fascinating history of the 700-year-old capital during a leisurely Canal Cruise. Admire the patrician mansions and the gabled facades; the “Golden Bend,” the most prestigious part of the Herengracht and a monument to the Golden Age; the Stopera, Amsterdam’s proud concert hall; the Hermitage, a branch museum of the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg; and much more. Also visit a major Diamond centre. For those who wish to experience Dutch life in the countryside, an optional excursion is available to picturebook Volendam, a fishing village at the former Zuiderzee, including visits to a working windmill, a clogmaker, a cheese farm, plus dinner.

Day 3: Amsterdam – Cologne, Germany – Koblenz

Day 4: Koblenz – Rudesheim – Wiesbaden

Today is dedicated to a romantic Rhine Cruise, including lunch, along the most scenic part of the Rhine River. Sit back and relax while you pass castle-crested cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Arrive in Rudesheim, capital of the Riesling wine, for a traditional Wine Tasting, before proceeding to your hotel in Wiesbaden.

Day 5: Wiesbaden – Rothenburg – Munich

Join your Tour Director for a walk through medieval, walled Rothenburg. Time to shop for Christmas ornaments, for which this town is famous. Continue to Munich, capital of Bavaria. Visit Marienplatz with its New and Old Town Halls, followed by the famous Hofbrauhaus, dating back to 1589. Free time for dinner.

Day 6: Munich – Salzburg, Austria

Drive eastwards, following the Bavarian Alps to Austria. Arrive in Salzburg, where your Local Guide takes you for a walking tour through the historic centre. Admire exquisite Mirabell Gardens, the Great Festival Hall, St. Peter’s Monastery, and magnificent Residenz Square, where some scenes of The Sound of Music movie were filmed. Also see Mozart’s birthplace in the charming Getreidegasse. Time to browse through the downtown market. You may wish to join an optional excursion to spectacular Berchtesgaden and Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest.

As the name implies, this European Sampler tour is a sample of some of the major highlights of Europe. You’ll spend two nights in Amsterdam, Lucerne, and Paris, as well as one night each in Heidelberg and Dijon. In Amsterdam, your guided sightseeing is via a canal cruise, the only way to experience Amsterdam! Day 1: Arrive In Amsterdam, Holland

Welcome to Amsterdam! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Meet your Local Guide and hear about the fascinating history of the 700-year-old capital during a leisurely CANAL CRUISE. Admire the patrician mansions and the gabled facades; the “Golden Bend,” the most prestigious part of the Herengracht and a monument to the Golden Age; the Stopera, Amsterdam’s proud concert hall; the Hermitage, a branch museum of the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg; and much more. Also visit a major DIAMOND centre. For those who wish to experience Dutch life in the countryside, an optional excursion is available to picture-book Volendam, a fishing village at the former Zuiderzee, including visits to a working windmill, a clogmaker, a cheese farm, plus dinner.

Day 3: Amsterdam – Rhineland, Germany

Pass the Dutch region near Arnhem, best known as the locale of A Bridge Too Far, and enter Germany. Today’s highlight is a romantic Rhine Cruise. Sit back, relax, and enjoy views of centuries-old castles, cozy towns, and vineyards. Continue to Heidelberg for a pleasant walk through the Old town to the Marktplatz (market square), from where you can take pictures of the famous red-walled ruins of Heidelberg Castle, followed by dinner with beer at Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg restaurant.

Day 4: Heidelberg – Black Forest – Rhine Falls, Switzerland – Lucerne

Enter the lush valleys and pine-clad hills of the Black Forest, famous for cuckoo clocks. Be welcomed by a local woodcarver, and see samples of his work during a Woodcarving Demonstration. Then, enjoy Kaffee und Schwarzwaldkuchen (coffee and the traditional homemade Black Forest Cake). On the Swiss border, take pictures of the thundering Rhine Falls before continuing to Lucerne. Start your walking tour with a visit to the impressive Bourbaki Panorama, Edouard Castres’ circular painting dating back to 1881, depicting scenes of the Franco- Prussian War. Day 6: Lucerne – Beaune, France – Dijon

Leave the Alps behind you and enter the scenic French countryside on your way to the vineyards of Burgundy. Stop in the pretty town of Beaune, where a Wine Tasting awaits at the renowned Marche aux Vins wine cellar. Also visit the Hotel Dieu, originally founded in 1443 as a hospital for the poor, before continuing to Dijon for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Dijon – Versailles – Paris

Enjoy views of castles on your way to Versailles, where a guided visit of the 17th-century Palace and Gardens has been included. Arrive in Paris, where an optional excursion is available to try out local specialties in one of its lively restaurants, followed by a drive for a first look at the French capital.

Continue to Rome, the “Eternal City”.

Day 7: Rome

We follow the scenic Arlberg Pass through the Tyrol to Innsbruck, the capital of the Alps where we will see the ornate Golden Roof during an orientation tour. Admire the fascinating crystal installations and browse for precious gifts and souvenirs at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds Store.

Salzburg’s extraordinary natural beauty has inspired musical greats and epic films. ‘Dive Into Culture’ and witness the centuries-old Venetian tradition of glassmaking. Navigate the bustling waterways by private launch to the gateway of Venice, St. Mark’s Square where we tread in the footsteps of Casanova and Marco Polo and admire the sights and sounds of the Queen of the Adriatic. See the ornate Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. This afternoon is yours to get lost in Venice. Explore the labyrinthine calle in search of the best Campari Spritz in town, watch the sun set over the Grand Canal or consider a cruise to the Island of Burano for a delicious meal.

Day 11: Venice – Assisi

Journey south to the mystical town of Assisi, where St. Francis was born and laid to rest. Here you’ll stroll through the city’s streets in the company of a ‘Local Specialist’ and have an opportunity to visit the Basilica of St. Francis. See the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and enjoy dinner at your hotel tonight.

Day 12: Assisi – Pompeii – Sorrento

Pass the site of the bloody World War II battle of Monte Cassino en route to the Bay of Naples and the lost city of Pompeii where you’ll join a ‘Local Specialist’ who will share the story of this remarkable ancient Roman settlement that was buried in ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. We continue to the coast and the beautiful seaside resort of Sorrento where we will stay the night and dine in our hotel.

Day 13: Sorrento – Isle of Capri – Rome

Cross the enchanting blue water of the Bay of Naples to the Isle of Capri and ascend to Capri by funicular railway where you will join a ‘Local Specialist’ for a guided walking tour of the town. Spend a leisurely afternoon soaking up la dolce vita in the piazza before sailing back to the mainland. This evening we arrive in Rome, the Eternal City, where we will spend the next two nights.

Day 14: Rome – Vatican Experience

Delve into the treasures of the Vatican City with a ‘Local Specialist’ who will take you on a sightseeing tour through St. Peter’s Basilica to see Michelangelo’s Pietà. Cross the Tiber into Ancient Rome to see the mighty Colosseum and enjoy views of Circus Maximus. Then ‘Dive Into Culture’ and gain priority access to the Vatican Museums for a guided tour. Admire Michelangelo’s magnificent frescoed ceiling when it is less crowded, then enjoy an exclusive after hour’s al fresco dinner against the backdrop of St Peter’s.

Day 15: Rome – Florence

Journey north to Florence where you’ll join a ‘Local Specialist’ for an included walking tour to the Piazza della Signoria, the political hub of this once free republic that became a recognised centre for art, architecture and culture. See the beautiful marble Duomo and Baptistery with its famous bronze doors, and the picturesque Ponte Vecchio which straddles the Arno. Learn about the quality and workmanship of one of this city’s historic industries at a demonstration of Florentine leathercraft. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure admiring the work of great masters in the Uffizi Gallery, climbing the stone steps to Piazzale Michelangelo for iconic views, or relaxing in the Boboli Gardens.

Day 16: Florence – Pisa – Monaco – French Riviera

We drive to the city of Pisa and its Square of Miracles to see the famous Leaning Tower which bears this city’s name. From Italy to the sun-kissed landscapes of the French Riviera, we stop in the sophisticated Principality of Monaco before continuing to the French Riviera, our home for the next two nights. Enjoy an orientation drive along the scenic Promenade des Anglais, which for centuries has attracted sun-worshipping aristocrats to its shores, and see Place Massena before spending the evening at leisure.

Day 17: French Riviera – St. Paul De Vence Excursion

Rub shoulders with artists and actors in the medieval hilltop town of Saint-Paul-de-Vence before enjoying an afternoon at leisure in the French Riviera to indulge in the laid-back seaside atmosphere. Wander along the scenic promenade and embrace café culture on the tranquil shores of the Mediterranean, stroll through the chic city streets shopping at the French Riviera’s fashionable boutiques or relax on the beach watching the sun set. We travel north to the Papal city of Avignon, an important pilgrimage site. Explore the ancient walls and Old Town, see its characteristic geometrically coloured tiled roofs.

Day 19: Beaune – Paris

We travel north through the vineyards of Burgundy to Paris, our home for the next two nights. The City of Lights shines brightly as you explore its grand boulevards, amble along the Seine or embrace the pageantry of a traditional Parisian cabaret.

Day 20: Paris

Day 1: London – Paris

Leaving the bright city lights of London behind us, we cross the English Channel by ferry from Dover to Calais, travelling across the World War I battlefields w here so many brave souls lost their lives. We catch a glimpse of the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge before arriving in Paris. Later, we join our Travel Director and travel companions for a Welcome Reception including dinner and drinks and an evening drive to embrace the energy of this vibrant city.

Day 2: Paris

Join a ‘Local Specialist’ for a drive along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and view the Eiffel Tower. View Notre Dame Cathedral and enjoy a stroll through the Latin Quarter. Perhaps pay a visit to the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, stroll along the Seine admiring the exquisite work of street artists or consider attending one of the city’s famous colourful cabaret shows.

Day 3: Paris – Amboise – Bordeaux

Journey through France’s Loire Valley stopping to see the royal château at Amboise, where King François I hosted Leonard da Vinci. Continue south through one of France’s most renowned wine regions, arriving in Bordeaux, celebrated for its centuries-old trading heritage and extraordinary architecture. Spend the evening exploring its historical centre or amble along the Garonne and watch how the 18th-century Place de la Bourse glitters across the river at night.

Day 5: Pamplona – Madrid

Day 7: Madrid – Barcelona

Driving towards Catalonia and the shores of the Mediterranean, we pass Guadalajara and the Gorges of Jalón and Aragón en route to vibrant Barcelona, where we will spend the next two nights delving into the intoxicating charm of this cultural and artistic powerhouse.

Day 8: Barcelona

Join a ‘Local Specialist’ today and delight in the whimsical world of Gaudí, whose characteristic Art Nouveau architecture is dotted throughout the city. See his unfinished masterpiece La Sagrada Familia, before spending the rest of the day embracing the energy of Barcelona. Pay tribute to Columbus and his brave exploration of the New World, wander down to La Barceloneta for some tasty tapas treats, or ramble up Las Ramblas watching street performers entertain crowds. This evening, you could choose to witness Spanish passion, power and drama unfold at an unforgettable foot-stomping flamenco evening including a delicious Spanish buffet.

Day 9: Barcelona – Perfumery Excursion – Cannes

From the rugged Costa Brava to the stylish shores of the French Riviera, we travel through the South of France, stopping to ‘Dive Into Culture’ during a guided visit to Fragonard Perfumery where we’ll learn how fragrances are crafted. Later, we arrive in the glamorous town of Cannes, home to the famous film festival.

Day 10: Cannes

Tread in the footsteps of showbiz royalty, savouring a full day at leisure in Cannes. Wander along La Croisette against the backdrop of the Mediterranean and Estérel Hills, shop on Rue Meynadier or consider joining an Optional Experience to the medieval hilltop town of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, renowned for its museums and galleries.

Day 11: Cannes – Monaco – Pisa – Florence

Travel along the sophisticated Cote d’Azur to the Principality of Monaco, where you’ll see the Royal Palace and the cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Cross into Italy and pass Genoa, the birthplace of Columbus, before arriving in Pisa to admire its Leaning Tower and Baptistery, the largest in Italy. This evening we arrive in the Renaissance city of Florence where we will spend the night.

Day 12: Florence – Assisi

Join a ‘Local Specialist’ for a guided walking tour of one of the cultural capitals of the world. Enjoy views of the marble Duomo, the Baptistery with its famous bronze doors, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Visit Piazza della Signoria, once the political hub of the city, and enjoy an included visit to the Academy of Fine Arts to see Michelangelo’s statue of David. We depart Florence for the mystical city of Assisi later, and tread in the footsteps of St. Francis who was born and laid to rest in this hilltop town. Join a ‘Local Specialist’ for a tour and visit the Basilica of St. Francis.

Day 13: Assisi – Pompeii – Sorrento

Travelling south towards the deep blue waters of the Bay of Naples, we stop in Pompeii and join a ‘Local Specialist’ to explore the tragic history of this ancient Roman settlement that was lost for centuries under ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The stylish seaside resort of Sorrento is our stop for the next two nights. Embrace la dolce vita as we ‘Connect With Locals’ over a family ‘Be My Guest’ dinner featuring traditional flavours.

Day 14: Excursion to the Isle Of Capri

Cross the waters of the bay to the enchanting Isle of Capri and explore its Piazzetta in the company of a ‘Local Specialist’ who will take you on a guided tour.

The grand boulevards and ancient history of Rome await as we travel north from Sorrento to the ‘Eternal City’, crossing the gold and green countryside of Lazio.

Day 22: Munich – Liechtenstein – Lucerne

Munich’s Marienplatz and Glockenspiel take centre stage this morning during an orientation tour of the city. We leave Germany for Switzerland, stopping in the Liechtenstein capital of Vaduz. Our home for the next two nights is one of Trafalgar’s ‘Stays With Stories’ – the Grand Hotel Europe, featuring a scenic lakeside and alpine backdrop.

Day 23: Lucerne

Pay tribute to the brave Swiss Guards who lost their lives defending King Louis XVI in the French Revolution and see the famous mournful Lion Monument. Walk along the wooden Chapel Bridge and admire its decorative ceilings. Then spend the rest of the day admiring the colourful façades of the Old Town or join an Optional Experience to one of the surrounding peaks.

Day 24: Lucerne – Heidelberg – Rhine Cruise – Rhineland

View the ruins of Heidelberg Castle perched above the Neckar River and board a relaxing cruise down the mighty Rhine from St. Goar to Boppard – fantasy castles and hillside vineyards line your scenic journey. This evening, we stay at one of Trafalgar’s ‘Stays With Stories’ – Bellevue hotel, located close to the Rhine River.

Day 25: Rhineland – Cologne – Amsterdam

Admire the tall twin Gothic spires of the Cologne Cathedral this morning, before crossing into the Netherlands and on to Amsterdam where we spend the next two nights. Sit under the leafy canopy at Leidseplein indulging in Dutch beer and kroketten, hire a bike and hit the city’s tree-lined streets or bask in the warm glow and gezelligheid of one of the city’s renowned bruin cafés.

Day 26: Amsterdam

Enjoy an orientation of Amsterdam and spend the rest of the day exploring the city on foot, by bike or tram. Consider delving into the tragic story of Anne Frank, admire the works of Van Gogh or people-watch in Vondelpark. Cruise through the city’s canals looking up at the centuries-old gabled façades for which Amsterdam is so famous.

Day 6: Bordeaux – Carcassonne – Barcelona, Spain
