Explore the ancient city of Kathmandu with its ancient temples, shrines, Buddhist stupas and sculptures. In the Kathmandu valley, admire masterpieces of Newar architecture, explore an elegant hillside temple overrun with monkeys and stand under the towering Boudhanath Stupa. Venturing out of the city, hike the Annapurna mountains, search for rhinos and tigers on a safari in Chitwan and visit the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara.

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

On arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu

Today visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and take a heritage walk through its medieval alleys. Visit Bouddhanath Stupa and experience an interaction with Lama who will offer a blessing. Drive to Pashupatinath Temple and attend the evening Aarti Ceremony, the lighting of lamps in devotion.

Day 3: Kathmandu – Chitwan National Park

Chitwan is one of the best wildlife viewing parks in Asia and you’ll have an excellent chance of spotting one-horned rhinos, monkeys and up to 544 species of birds.

Day 4: Chitwan National Park

Today is yours to discover the national park with a full day of activities available.

Day 5: Chitwan National Park – Bandipur

Bandipur is a beautifully preserved village above the main road to Kathmandu.

Day 6: Bandipur – Pokhara

Travel by road to the lakeside town of Pokhara. This afternoon visit the Old Bazaar and Kali Temple followed by an evening boat ride on Phewa Lake.

Day 7: Pokhara

Visit Ki Singh Bridge and nearby Devi Falls before moving on to a Tibetan refugee village to discover the community’s thriving textile and carpet industry.

Day 8: Pokhara – Annapurna Hike

Today morning drive to Phedi. We take the right hand track uphill through thin forest and farmland and scattered villages to Dhampus Village 1650m which offers the spectacular views of the snow clad mountains of the Annapurna range including the famous Mt. Machhapuchhre. A further walk of one hour will take us to Pothana for overnight stop. Total walking time 4 hours. Spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 9: Annapurna Hike

Having our breakfast in the morning we walk to Deurali on a gradual ascent a then take a steep downhill walk through thick rhododendron forest to Bhichuk. From here the trail eases until Langdrung where we take our lunch. After lunch we continue to walk down to Modi Khola (river) to take a steep uphill walk to Ghandruk, a large Gurung Village for an overnight stop. Ghandruk offers the views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and other peaks of Annapurna range. Total walking time 6 hours. Overnight at Tea House.

Day 10: Annapurna Hike – Pokhara

We see a gradual descent walk to Seuli Bazar for 2 hours and get on a Flat land walk through rice fields until Birethanti. We further walk on a very busy trail approximately one hour to Nayapul and then drive back to Pokhara. Total walking time 4 hours.

Day 11: Pokhara – Kathmandu

Fly to Kathmandu. Tour Kathmandu city and and see the Swayambhunath Stupa.

Day 12: Depart Kathmandu 

This morning is the best day to take the 8am Everest Mountain flight. You can book this at the time of booking. At 11am, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

Annapurna Sanctuary

Discover a world of breathtaking mountain peaks on this exciting expedition to the vast natural amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Leaving the terraced fields and forests of the foothills behind, pass under the great bulk of the ‘Fishtail’ Mountain and discover Machhapuchhre Base Camp. An early morning ascent to Annapurna Base Camp sees you surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of some of the world’s highest mountains.

Days 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Our trip begins in Kathmandu. Meet your Tour Leader and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Days 2: Arrive Kathmandu

Today we take a walking tour of Kathmandu’s top attractions.

Day 3: Kathmandu – Pokhara

Leaving the capital, we drive to Pokhara. The drive will take much of the day but the mountain views are spectacular.

Day 4: Pokhara – Ghandruk

Depart Pokhara and drive via Nayapul to Badaldanda village where we begin our trek. The walk follows a stone path of roughly hewn steps. We finish in Ghandruk.

Day 5: Ghandruk – Chhomrong

We then begin the long steep ascent towards Chhomrong. The high point above the main valley is a favourite place for soaring vultures and provides us with awesome vistas.

Day 6: Chhomrong – Dovan

Descending to cross the Chhomrong Khola by suspension bridge, we enjoy excellent views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South. We continue to climb steeply until we reach a welcome teahouse. This afternoon we continue our ascent towards Dovan through bamboo forest to our accommodation.

Day 7: Dovan – Deurali

This morning the track continues up past the so-called ‘weeping wall’ and the shrine of the ‘God of the Jungle’, to the Himalaya Hotel. Passing several spectacular waterfalls, we climb through bamboo forest to reach Hinku Cave. We ascend further until we reach the small settlement of Deurali where we spend the night.

Day 8: Deurali – Machhapucchre Base Camp

Today we pass between Machhapuchhre and Huinchuli – the ‘Gates’ into the sanctuary. Climbing over rocky moraine we arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, an awe-inspiring setting in which to end our day’s trekking.

Day 9: Machhapucchre Base Camp – Annapurna Base Camp

We follow a classic route to a spectacular viewpoint, with peaks encircling us including close up views of the south face of Annapurna and of Annapurna South glacier.

Day 10: Annapurna Base Camp – Bamboo

We begin our descent as we head for Bamboo, crossing a number of rocky avalanche chutes.

Day 11: Bamboo – Jhinnu Danda

Descending through rhododendron forest full of birds, we cross the Chhomrong Khola and climb up to Chhomrong village for a rest. We then climb for a short while before descending to Jhinnu Danda, our home for the night.

Day 12: Jhinnu Danda – Pokhara

We descend to the Kimrong Khola which we cross and then tackle a short ascent. Descending further we follow the Modi River until we reach Simai. From Simai we transfer back to Pokhara.

Day 13: Pokhara

Pokhara is smaller and more relaxed than Kathmandu and is beautifully situated on the banks of Phewa Tal. Only foothills separate the town from the high mountains and there are superb views of the snow-capped Annapurna range.

Day 14: Pokhara – Kathmandu

Today we take the scenic six hour journey back to Kathmandu.

Day 15: Kathmandu

Our trip ends after breakfast.
