Day 1: Arrive Los Angeles

Immerse yourself in the creative energy of the City of Angels – your launch pad to an effortlessly delivered exploration of the iconic sights and sounds of the West, with a bit of sun-kissed California in the mix. After a short transfer to Beverly Hills, settle in to your hotel, where you’ll meet your Travel Director and fellow travel companions for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2: Los Angeles – San Diego

Ease into the laid-back surfer-style vibes of San Diego. Discover Balboa Park, the Old Town and Victorian Gaslamp Quarter, dating back to the 1850s. Spend some free time exploring “America’s Finest City” on your own terms before joining your newfound friends for a memorable Regional Dinner.

Day 3: San Diego – Scottsdale

Spot the sanguaros as you traverse the great Sonoran Desert en route to the trendy Arizona town of Scottsdale. This evening, the Valley of the Sun shines brightly as you enjoy free time to explore its galleries, boutiques and chic eateries.

Day 4: Scottsdale – Sedona – Grand Canyon National Park

Journey to the artists’ enclave of Sedona – your rocky red gateway to an unforgettable encounter with the epic natural beauty of Oak Creek Canyon. We arrive at the UNESCO-listed Grand Canyon this afternoon where we’ll meet a Local Specialist who will share insights into the canyon’s geological marvels. Watch how the light plays on its layered cliffs and peer down into its depths to see the Colorado River as you skirt the South Rim.

Day 5: Grand Canyon National Park – Las Vegas

We leave the world’s largest canyon behind and head towards the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, where we’ll spend the next two nights. The Entertainment Capital of the World blooms in the midst of the desert and you’ll have an opportunity to explore it over the next two nights.

Day 6: Las Vegas Free Time

Shrug off the shackles of responsibility and embrace fun and games in the city that never sleeps. Break the bank at one of the casinos, enjoy some retail therapy or have lunch at one of the city’s larger-than-life restaurants. This evening, we enjoy one of the elaborate Regional Dinner buffets for which Las Vegas is renowned.

Day 7: Las Vegas – Mammoth Lakes

We leave Sin City behind, travelling through the vast arid landscapes of the Mojave Desert, to Mammoth Lakes, an outdoor adventure playground amidst the rolling peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Enjoy an evening at leisure. (Weather conditions may cause the Tioga Pass to be closed to traffic, typically from mid October to the end of May. In this case, an alternate overnight city and entry point to Yosemite will be used.)

Day 8: Mammoth Lakes – Yosemite National Park

Descend from the Sierra Nevada Mountains through stunning Tioga Pass (seasonal) and enter UNESCO-listed Yosemite National Park. We journey through Yosemite Valley, admiring the natural wonders of Bridal Veil, Yosemite Falls and El Capitan’s imposing granite cliffs. Spend the rest of the day delving into the natural history, flora and fauna of one of the world’s oldest national parks.

Day 9: Yosemite National Park – Napa and Sonoma Valleys – San Francisco

We head north to Northern California’s original wine country this morning, past Napa and on to Sonoma, where we’ll ‘Dive into Culture’ and visit a family-owned winery for an exclusive tour and wine tasting. A short journey down the coast sees us arrive in San Francisco. Travel beneath the glowing orange arches of the Golden Gate Bridge into “The City”, where you’ll enjoy a Regional Dinner with your fellow travellers this evening.

Day 10: San Francisco Sightseeing

Embark on an exploration of San Francisco and its iconic sights, from Fisherman’s Wharf to Golden Gate Park. Indulge in the Bay Area’s best artisan foods and fresh farm produce, then spend the rest of the afternoon discovering the city’s cosmopolitan neighbourhoods, including the largest Chinese enclave outside Asia.

Day 11: San Francisco – Monterey

A leisurely start to our morning sees us enjoy a final encounter with San Francisco, before continuing along the rugged, remote Pacific coastline to Monterey where we’ll ‘Connect with Locals’ for a ‘Be My Guest’ dinner crafted from the freshest farm-to-table local ingredients.

Day 12: Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea Sightseeing

Admire the inspiring natural scenery as you continue along the iconic 17-Mile Drive, past the Lone Cypress Tree and Pebble Beach Golf Links. We will stop by the Carmel Mission and then the rest of the day is free to explore Monterey’s strong coastal heritage. Visit the historic waterfront district and Cannery Row, immortalised by the John Steinbeck novel bearing the same name – the choice is yours.

Day 13: Monterey – Santa Barbara

We journey south onto idyllic Santa Barbara. Spend some time discovering the city’s Spanish colonial heritage. This evening, join our newfound friend to toast our holiday during a Farewell Dinner.

Day 14: Santa Barbara – Depart Los Angeles

Head to Hollywood to see Tinseltown’s most famous icons: Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the Walk of Fame. We continue to Beverly Hills for those extending their stay or take a transfer to the Los Angeles International Airport.

Day 1: Arrive Scottsdale

Sun-kissed Phoenix kickstarts your journey through America’s stunning Southwest. You’ll have the day on your own to recover from your travels, then meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception later this evening.

Day 2: Scottsdale – Sedona – Grand Canyon National Park

Your first stop today is in the artists’ enclave of Sedona – surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. You’ll travel through Oak Creek Canyon next, with its rocky red cliffs, then venture to the UNESCO-listed Grand Canyon National Park, where a Local Specialist will share the canyon’s many geological marvels. Tonight, you’ll have an opportunity to overnight at one of the lodges inside the park.

Day 3: Grand Canyon National Park – Monument Valley Tribal Park – Bluff

Rise early for an optional flightseeing over the Grand Canyon and then trace the scenic South Rim of the Grand Canyon along Desert View Drive. Stop at Cameron Trading Post to browse through handicrafts and perhaps sample traditional fry bread. Continue to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park where you’ll board 4X4 vehicles to navigate the iconic red valley landscape guided by a Local Specialist and member of the Navajo Nation. Savour the flavours of the Southwest at dinner this evening.

Day 4: Bluff – Canyonlands National Park – Moab

Sit back and watch the scenery unfold as you drive along Utah’s Scenic Byway 191 between Bluff and Moab. Arriving at Canyonlands National Park, we ascend the Island in the Sky mesa and admire the spectacular scenery below. This evening, we ‘Connect With Locals’ over an exclusive ‘Be My Guest’ dinner with wine at a local grill in Moab.

Day 5: Arches National Park Excursion and Moab

This morning, discover how the forces of wind and rain have shaped the enchanting landscape of Arches National Park. Later, enjoy a free afternoon or consider a deeper exploration of the area with an optional guided hike to Delicate Arch if you’re feeling adventurous.

Day 6: Moab – Mesa Verde National Park – Durango

We arrive in the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park to delve into the history and culture of the Ancestral Puebloan people. Explore their beautifully preserved sandstone dwellings and admire the massive Cliff Palace. For dinner, enjoy a your choice dining option and choose from several different restaurants in town.

Day 7: Durango Free Time

Enjoy free time in Durango today. Perhaps, enjoy a truly unforgettable step back in time, on an optional ride aboard the coal-fired, steam-powered narrow-gauge train to the historic mining town of Silverton. The train chugs along rails that were originally laid at the end of the 19th century, winding through a spectacular wilderness which would be inaccessible by car. If you’re feeling more adventurous, opt for a white water rafting trip on the Animas River.

Day 8: Durango – Taos – Santa Fe

This morning’s drive takes you through the towns of Vallecito, Pagosa Springs and Chama before arriving in Taos, where there will be time at Taos Plaza, a Historical Landmark. Meet your local Navajo resident guide and explore the only living Native American community designated both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. The journey continues along the High Road, the Taos – Santa Fe Scenic Byway, rich in history, art and culture. Arrive at the hotel, ideally located two short blocks from Santa Fe’s Historic Plaza.

Day 9: Santa Fe Sightseeing and Free Time

Join your Local Specialist this morning on a guided tour of Santa Fe. Experience this city where Spanish, Native American and Old West influences all combine to form a city with its own exclusive culture and character. See many of the city’s major sights before the rest of the day is yours to pursue your own interests. Perhaps venture down the artistic hub of Canyon Road lined with galleries, visit some of the city’s top museums, or shop for Native American art and handicraft. This evening enjoy dinner with wine at one of Santa Fe’s many restaurants.

Day 10: Santa Fe – White Sands National Park – Las Cruces

Leave Santa Fe bound for White Sands National Park, driving along scenic drives that capture the spirit of this Land of Enchantment. This is Billy the Kid country, where legends play against a spectacular backdrop of snowy peaks, rolling rivers, orchards and ranchlands. Stop at White Sands National Monument – like no other place on earth, the great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand form the world’s largest gypsum dune field. Walk these dreamy parabolic dunes barefoot, which unlike conventional sand stays cool to the touch. Next is Las Cruces on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert. ‘Dive Into Culture’ as you learn about the production of New Mexico’s renowned spicy chilli and major-league pecan production. Dinner is at a local restaurant in town this evening.

Day 11: Las Cruces – Tombstone – Tucson

Blazing a trail across the Southwest, continue to Tombstone, a trip back in time to the days of the old Wild West. Meet with Arizona Bill, your guide for a private tour of the town. Here in “The Town Too Tough To Die,” hear the tales from this legendary frontier mining camp, make a stop by the OK Corral and hear about the infamous shootout, which some have called the world’s most famous 30-second gunfight. See inside the home of Wyatt Earp and his gunfighting friend Doc Holliday. Arrive at the AAA Four Diamond, 500 acres resort with amazing desert and mountain views in the Southwest.

Day 12: Saguaro National Park and Tucson Foodie Tour

Start the morning with a visit to Saguaro National Park East, home to 1.6 million of the nation’s largest cacti – the giant saguaro. As you enter the park you’ll see large stands of gigantic saguaro cacti creating a breathtaking saguaro forest in the middle of a desert environment. Drive along the Cactus Forest Loop before heading to Downtown Tucson to ‘Dive into Culture’ and become a Tucson Foodie. Sample dishes from various restaurants and you’ll understand why Tucson was named the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the USA. Back at the resort there is time to relax before a farm-to-table Farewell Dinner concocted by Chef Joshua Willett. After dinner, go on a date with the stars. Tucson is recognized as Dark Sky City by the International Dark Sky Association and Local Specialist Ben Loker and his team of astronomers will reveal the secrets of the universe with their customized, transportable computerized telescopes.

Day 13: Depart Tucson or Phoenix

Your journey through the American Southwest comes to an end as you are taken to Tucson Airport. There is also an option aboard the coach to Phoenix International Airport, where you will arrive around 11 am.

Day 1: Arrive Portland

Welcome to Portland, where the aromas of coffee and craft beer are never far. Relax after your journey or explore on your terms before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2: Columbia River Gorge Sightseeing

This morning, we’ll embark on a full-day sightseeing trip to Columbia River Gorge. Nothing will prepare you for the incredible scenic beauty that will unfold along this journey as you follow the historic Columbia River Highway. Waterfalls cascade from basalt cliffs lining the road and the views from Crown Point are simply spectacular. You’ll have some free time in Hood River for lunch and a stop along the famed “Fruit Loop” which sells farm produce and artisan food. We continue to Timberline Lodge, located on the slopes of Mt. Hood. Later enjoy a Regional Dinner with your travel colleagues.

Day 3: Portland Sightseeing

Today is dedicated to getting to know Portland. We kick off with an orientation tour of the city before joining a Local Specialist for a walking tour to delve into the history and importance of the Pearl District. Formerly occupied by warehouses, this revamped district of the city is now a vibrant centre for art galleries, food carts and stylish bars. You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to explore on your own.

Day 4: Portland – Newport

Discover why Portland is justifiably called the ‘City of Roses’ during this morning’s visit to the International Rose Test Garden, the oldest official continuously operated public rose test garden in the US. We leave Portland bound for coastal Newport, with some free time for lunch during a quick stop in the university city of Corvallis. Later, join an expert Local Specialist onboard an included nature cruise to spot local sea life and marine birds. You’ll have an evening at leisure to spend as you wish or consider visiting a local chowder house to savour authentic Newport flavours.

Day 5: Newport – Seaside

We journey north, up the rugged Oregon coast bound for a West Coast family favourite, Seaside. But first, we’ll take a side trip to Oregon’s green and golden wine country and ‘Connect With Locals’ over an exclusive ‘Be My Guest’ gourmet lunch with the area’s signature Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley. Arriving in Seaside, keep a keen eye out for the famous “Turnaround”, the official end of the Lewis and Clark Trail.

Day 6: Seaside to Olympic National Park

‘Dive Into Culture’ and take a step back in time in historic Astoria, the oldest American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. You’ll board a restored street car for a ride along the Astoria Riverfront Trolley. The historic journey continues during a docent-led tour of the Columbia River Maritime Museum, which shares the stories of the legendary Columbia River Bar, one of the most dangerous passages in the world. Later, we meet Harvest Moon, a Local Specialist, historian and storyteller who will share the tribal legends of the Quinault nation. Tonight you’ll stay at one of Trafalgar’s ‘Stays With Stories’, a rustic lodge built in the 1920s on the site of the old ‘Log Hotel’.

Day 7: Olympic National Park

Nature lovers will adore this morning’s trek to the eerie “Hall of Mosses” in Hoh Rainforest and the wild and windswept beaches of the Western Olympic Peninsula. You’ll have some free time this afternoon to explore this beautiful wilderness area your way. Relax at the lodge or consider one of the popular local activities, including hiking, biking boating or fishing – the choice is yours.

Day 8: Olympic National Park – Seattle

We leave the scenic beauty of Oregon’s Olympic Peninsula behind for the bright lights of the Emerald City. Stop to savour the crisp flavours of local craft beer with lunch in the state capital, Olympia. Then, continue to Bainbridge Island to board a ferry and journey across the Puget Sound to Seattle enjoying dramatic views of the city skyline.

Day 9: Seattle Sightseeing

This morning enjoy an orientation of Seattle and get your ‘fix’ on a guided tour of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery including a Coffee seminar, ‘Dive into Culture’ brewing demonstration along with a step by step coffee tasting. Promising a theatrical experience, you’ll see Master Roasters, mixologists and baristas work their magic to create the most flavourful coffees. Later, you’re free to explore Seattle on your terms with your choice of sightseeing giving you a chance to visit the fantastical glass sculptures of Chihuly Garden and Glass Art Museum or take a trip to the top of the landmark Space Needle.

Day 10: Seattle Free Time

Today, you may choose to experience Pike Place Market, where the fish fly low from one fishmonger’s hands to the next. Explore, on your own to become a market insider experiencing the sights, sounds and flavours of this historic 100+ year old landmark. You may wish to explore the rest of the city to checkout its vibrant foodie, culture and art scene. Later, you’ll join your newfound friends for a Farewell Dinner.

Take your transfer to Seattle International Airport or perhaps extend your stay.

Day 3: Bryce Canyon – Salt Lake City

Day 4: Salt Lake City – Montpelier – Jackson

Day 5: Jackson – Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks

Day 8: Billings – Little Bighorn – Rapid City

Our day begins with a visit to Little Bighorn, the infamous battlefield where the ill-fated Custer led his men against a battalion of Sioux and Cheyenne warriors. Continue east through the Black Hills to Rapid City.

Day 9: Black Hills Excursion

Venture into the Black Hills of South Dakota as you make your way to the base of Crazy Horse Memorial. As you gaze at the colossal carved face of this famous war leader, learn how your visit ‘Makes a Difference’ by preserving Native American Culture. We continue to Mount Rushmore to view the faces of former American presidents etched into the granite rock-face, then ‘Dive into Culture’ with Stephen Yellowhawk, who will regale you with stories of his tribe’s history during a festive dinner.

Day 10: Rapid City – Denver

Travel south through the expansive prairies of Wyoming to Denver, the Mile High City, where you’ll enjoy an evening with a light dinner.

Ascend into the foothills of the Rockies and cross the Continental Divide en route to the alpine village of Vail, renowned for its epic powder-filled alpine basins that have attracted skiers since the 1960s. We continue to Moab for an evening on your terms.

Day 12: Canyonlands and Arches National Parks Excursion

Our national park journey takes us to Canyon Country, where we see first-hand the power of the Colorado River carving its way through the rocky red landscape at Canyonlands National Park. Next up, the Arches National Park provides an insightful encounter with thousands of natural sandstone arches formed by rain and wind where you may choose to take a short hike to iconic Delicate Arch view point.

Day 13: Moab – Mesa Verde National Park – Monument Valley

Admire the ancient cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloan people, carved out of the sandstone of the canyon walls at the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park. Our connection with the first nations of this land continues as we enjoy a cookout Regional Dinner in Monument Valley.

Day 14: Monument Valley – Grand Canyon National Park

Explore the red valley floor of Monument Valley in a special open-air vehicle, accompanied by a Local Specialist. Visit the land of the Navajo people, stopping at the historic Cameron Trading Post, before arriving at the UNESCO-listed Grand Canyon where you’ll meet a Local Specialist. Explore the elegance of yesteryear, starting your day with a self-guided visit to the Biltmore Estate, the largest privately owned home in America and former luxurious homestead of George and Edith Vanderbilt. Stroll through acres of landscaped gardens and gain insight into the lives of a great family once considered American Royalty. We continue to the iconic UNESCO-listed Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Stop at the Sugarlands Visitor Center and explore 19th century wilderness settlement life. Tune into the intoxicating sights and sounds of Music City this morning. Day 11: Nashville – Memphis

From country to blues, we head for the birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll on Beale Street, where we’ll meet a musician and Local Specialist to learn about the musical heritage of Memphis. Our final stop today is the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. was gunned down. Perhaps visit the National Civil Rights Museum, home to the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. Enjoy a Regional Dinner this evening.

Day 12: Graceland Excursion

Admire the towering red cliffs and sandstone peaks of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area this morning. Aptly named for its unforgiving landscapes, Death Valley is a stunningly beautiful land of extremes. Day 3: Death Valley National Park Sightseeing

Our acoustic journey continues with a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to see Elvis’ Solid Gold Cadillac limousine and Jim Reeves’ tuxedo jacket.

Day 3: Nashville At Leisure and Sightseeing

In the morning, we will visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, then continue our discovery of Nashville on a ‘Your Choice’ sightseeing experience, exploring either the Johnny Cash Museum or the Ryman Auditorium. Amble through Broadway’s honky-tonk scene or perhaps enjoy the gut-busting flavours of homegrown hot chicken or biscuits. This evening, the sound of country music fills the air as we head to the Grand Ole Opry to watch a performance of America’s longest running live radio programme. Today we venture to the badlands of the Painted Desert en route to Monument Valley. Day 1: Arrive Las Vegas

Begin your exploration of California’s national parks in Las Vegas. This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception at The LINQ. In the evening you will find yourself soaring 550 feet above the center of the Las Vegas Strip on the High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel.

Day 2: Las Vegas – Death Valley National Park – Mammoth Lakes

Immerse yourself in the solitude and desolation of Death Valley-UNESCO World Heritage Site and barren, yet unexpectedly lively land of extremes which we will have an opportunity to explore for part of today. Admire scenic views of the undulating rocky landscape at Zabriskie Point and learn about the valley’s unique geological features, history and intriguing weather patterns. Descend below sea level to the Badwater Basin. After lunch at 1849 Buffet at The Ranch at Death Valley, we continue through the desert landscape of Death Valley ascending to Mammoth Lakes, our home for the night.

Day 3: Mammoth Lakes – Yosemite National Park

Take a scenic Gondola ride to the peak of Mammoth Mountain and enjoy the stunning views while you enjoy a tasty breakfast. Touch the clouds through the Tioga Pass (seasonal) and enter the UNESCO-listed Yosemite National Park. Driving past Tenaya Lake and Tuolumne Meadows, we journey to Yosemite Valley where we’ll embark on a special valley floor tour. View Yosemite Valley’s El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, and Bridal Veil Falls. Our ‘Stay with a Story’ tonight exudes a cosy, ski-lodge atmosphere and is located just a stone’s throw from Yosemite Falls.

Day 4: Yosemite Free Time

Explore the Yosemite National Park today, famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees and grand meadows, there is plenty to explore here. Join a Local Specialist Park Ranger to delve into the natural history, flora and fauna, and people who found sanctuary in these tranquil emerald-green surrounds over the centuries. Our tour takes us out to view Yosemite Valley’s El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, and Bridal Veil Falls. The rest of the day is free to go for a walk or hike and take in the breathtaking beauty of Yosemite.

Day 5: Yosemite National Park – Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks

Stretch your legs in Kings Canyon and gaze towards the sky as you greet the giant boughs of General Grant Tree Enjoy a birds-eye view of the Kings Canyon before you continue along the Majestic Mountain Loop. Towering redwood trunks frame your journey to Sequoia National Park, where we’ll spend the night in our ‘Stay with a Story’ surrounded by forest and soaring Sierra peaks. Spend the evening gazing upwards at the star-spangled sky as a naturalist and Local Specialist guides you through the constellations.

Day 6: Sequoia National Park Excursion

Tread in the footsteps of giants, walking beneath the soaring sequoia canopy to see first-hand the world’s largest living tree, General Sherman. Learn about the Giant Forest and its history during a stop at the Giant Forest Museum, then enjoy a leisurely walk along the Big Trees Trail, connecting with the invigorating natural surrounds. Immerse yourself in the pioneer history of the Old West, joining a living-history reenactor and Local Specialist for a barbecue lunch and stories of early life in the mountains. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the park on your terms, using the complimentary shuttle system (seasonal).

Day 7: Sequoia National Park – Los Angeles

Travel to Los Angeles, where you’ll stroll down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, considered America’s epicenter of luxury, fashion and lifestyle. As our invigorating encounter with California’s epic natural beauty comes to an end, we join your Travel Director and newfound friends for a Farewell Dinner.

Day 8: Depart Los Angeles

After our tremendous journey through California’s national parks, the time has come for us to say goodbye. Prepare to leave Los Angeles and take your transfer to Los Angeles International Airport or consider extending your stay.

Day 1: Arrive Jackson

Explore Jackson on your terms before meeting your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2: Grand Teton National Park Free Time

Spend a full day at leisure connecting with the dazzling natural scenery of Grand Teton National Park. If you like, take an optional float trip down Snake River^. Take an aerial tram ride to the peak of Rendezvous Mountain (seasonal) this afternoon. The Bridger Gondola or another activity will be offered when the tram is not in operation. The rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 3: Jackson – Yellowstone National Park

We continue our exploration of the Tetons this morning before heading to the UNESCO-listed Yellowstone National Park. Your encounter with its geothermal wonders will leave you in awe. Witness Old Faithful’s waters arc high into the air as it has done approximately every 90 minutes since the Washburn Expedition discovered it. We stay amidst the colourful pools of hotsprings, mudpots and geysers tonight at one of the park’s signature lodges.

Day 4: Yellowstone National Park Sightseeing

Keep a keen eye out for bison, grizzlies and elk as you journey through Hayden Valley en route to the rusting walls of Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon. Drive along Dunraven Pass and past Montana’s Lamar Valley, home to herds of elk, bison and grizzlies. Admire the gentle cascade of water running down the multi-coloured mineral terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs as they descend into the valley.

Day 5: Yellowstone National Park – Cody – Sheridan

Head to the infamous town of Cody, named for its most famous native son, Buffalo Bill. Gain insights into the history of the American West at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and delve into the history of the cowboy, the role of the firearm in the early days, and the culture of the Plains Indians. This evening we ‘Connect with Locals’ and enjoy a traditional Western-style ‘Be My Guest’ dinner at a historic café, complete with an old-time tobacco shop.

Day 6: Sheridan – Deadwood – Rapid City

Head through the windswept prairies of the American Frontier and into the Black Hills of South Dakota, admiring the looming fortress of Devils Tower en route. Arriving in the infamous Gold Rush town of Deadwood, we join Kevin Costner’s Original Deadwood Tour. Meet a Local Specialist to hear about the days of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and Potato Creek Johnny. Journey to Rapid City, where you have the option of visiting Mount Rushmore this evening to see the evening illumination ceremony.

Day 7: Black Hills Excursion

This morning, we pay tribute to Crazy Horse, peering at the immortalised face of the famed war chief of the Lakota people etched from the granite rock of the Black Hills. ‘Make a Difference’ by learning how your visit contributes to its preservation. We continue to Mount Rushmore featuring the enormous carvings of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Day 8: Rapid City Free Time

Take an optional trip to Badlands National Park this morning or enjoy free time to explore downtown Rapid City today. This evening, we ‘Dive into Culture’ during a festive Farewell Dinner and ‘Make a Difference’ by learning how Stephen Yellowhawk works to preserve Native American heritage.

Day 9: Depart Rapid City

Bid farewell to your travelling companions and take a transfer to Rapid City Airport or extend your stay in Rapid City at The Rushmore Hotel.
