You’ll come face-to-face with some monumental figures, while a day at Deadwood will teach you about the fascinating days of notable figures including Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane. You’ll witness the wild charms of Yellowstone National Park after hours as you stay the night in the park’s popular lodges, while all-American breakfasts and hearty ranch food will keep you fueled throughout your journey.

Welcome to Utah’s capital, Salt Lake City. On arrival at Salt Lake City International Airport, board your transfer to your hotel. Lying between Wasatch Range and the Great Salt Lake, this mountainous city is perfect for outdoorsy types, with a strong focus on skiing and fishing. It is also the headquarters of the Mormon faith. At 18:00, join your Travel Director for a Welcome Dinner with wine, where you will meet your fellow guests and prepare for your journey ahead.

As you move on from Salt Lake City, take in iconic Temple Square and the State Capitol building, before heading north across the Oregon Trail to historic Jackson. Have your cameras ready for the famous elk antlers that adorn the central square, and for eager shoppers there are a number of charming traditional boutiques to browse. In the evening, relax at Jackson Lake Lodge, where you’ll be presented with the stunning peaks of Grand Teton National Park. Staying in the park itself, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the grounds after hours.

Wake up to a mountainous view like no other and witness the striking Grand Tetons thrust skyward 6,562 feet (2,000 metres) from the valley floor. In keeping with today’s rustic country charm, you’ll enter Yellowstone, the world’s first National Park. Known for its unique geothermal activity, spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife, you’ll experience Wyoming in all its glory. Keep an eye out for black bears or wolves. Tonight you’ll stay in the National Park Lodges, allowing you to experience the park after hours, in its natural glory.

Savour the surreal surroundings of Yellowstone with a relaxed start. Walk among the rainbow tinted hot springs and watch the erupting geysers as you take in the history of the park on an informative stroll with your Travel Director. Catch the renowned colourful bubbling mud pots and observe Old Faithful geyser shooting water over 120 feet (37 metres) into the air. You’ll behold the powerful roar of Lower Yellowstone Falls, before heading back to your Park Lodge rooms. The National Park is also famous for its wildlife, so keep an eye out for the Yellowstone ram, wolves, bears and elk.

Set off on your travels through the stark Shoshone Canyon and Absaroka Rocky Mountains to the Wild West Town of Cody. Learn more about America’s great Western legends at the Buffalo Bill Centre, known for its Western art collection, firearms and natural history. End the day in Clearmont, Wyoming where you’ll check in to your abode for the night. Here you’ll enjoy an All-American ranch style Highlight Dinner with wine.

Live the American frontier dream and begin your day with a scenic country horseback ride (8). If playing cowboy isn’t your thing, perhaps go fishing or merely relax and take in your beautiful surroundings, the choice is yours. Make your way to Devils Tower, an astounding geological feature that protrudes out of the surrounding the Black Hills. This symbolic landmark is considered sacred to the Lakota and other tribes. Experience Spearfish Canyon, a favoured spot among wildlife enthusiasts and one famous for its elvish woodland beauty. The limestone palisades of this creek-carved gorge are more ancient than the Grand Canyon.

A day for those looking to explore the wild west, try to spot pronghorn antelope as you cross the great high plains to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Once in Deadwood, you’ll also get to speak to members of the Lakota tribe as they share a fascinating live narrative of the Great Sioux Nation. You’ll have the opportunity to join Kevin Costner’s Original Deadwood Tour, while a Local Expert will talk about the days of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, who made this once lawless town famous during the Gold Rush of the 1870s. Continue on to Custer State Park, renowned for its beautiful landscape and abundant wildlife.

What better way to spend your last full day than delving further into the history of this fascinating country? The heart of the Black Hills offers spectacular representations of the nation’s past. You’ll start by viewing Crazy Horse Memorial, which is dedicated to all Native Americans. An exclusive Insight Experience awaits as you are taken up to the 641 feet (195 metres) long and 563 feet (172 metres) tall sculpture to stand face to face with the world’s largest mountain carving. Afterwards, travel to iconic Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Here, carvings of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt overlook the landscape. The rest of the day is yours to explore in Custer State Park. Join your Travel Director and newfound friends for a Celebration Dinner with wine, as you reflect on your adventure across the wide-open spaces of America’s national parks.

Travel south from Custer State Park where your trip ends on arrival in Denver. A transfer is available to Denver International Airport. Airport arrival in Denver will be at 16:30.

Day 1: Arrive Denver

Welcome to Denver, the Mile High City. Spend the day recovering after your travels or visit the Denver Art Museum or Botanical Gardens before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2: Denver – Rocky Mountain National Park – Boulder

The Rocky Mountains may seem larger than life, but your journey to Rocky Mountain National Park will see you come face to face with this extraordinary mountain landscape which snakes along western North America. Drive along the Trail Ridge Road, a designated national scenic byway and the highest continuous paved highway in America. Arrive at the charming Hotel Boulderado, your ‘Stay with Story’ and Colorado’s top rated historic hotel, located one block from the city’s hub for dining, arts, shopping and, of course, people watching. This evening you will have free time to explore on your own.

Day 3: Boulder – Georgetown Loop Railroad – Vail – Glenwood Springs

Your next stop is Colorado’s oldest tourist attraction, the Georgetown Loop Railroad, completed in the late 19th century. Walk along the pedestrian-only streets of the picturesque Vail Mountain Resort. Continue on to Glenwood Springs, a resort city known for its hot springs, sitting in the rugged Rocky Mountains, surrounded by the vast White River National Forest. This evening, your ‘Stay with Story’ is the historic and iconic Colorado Hotel, fresh from a complete renovation, bringing the hotel back to its former glory and the Grande Dame of Glenwood Springs.

Day 4: Aspen Sightseeing

Head up Colorado’s Rocky Mountains to Aspen, known for its high-end boutiques, bars and restaurants. Join your Travel Director for a walk through town. Then an exciting and exclusive experience awaits you as you will be taken by jeep up to the historic Burlingame Cabin located on Snowmass Mountain. There you can take an extended jeep tour, or just sit back, relax and admire the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges while the staff tends to all your needs. Enjoy a delicious lunch hot off the grill, a campfire, live music, and s’mores. Back in Glenwood Springs, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please. Perhaps, visit the renowned Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s largest mineral hot springs pool.

Day 5: Glenwood Springs – Colorado National Monument – Palisade

Head for Palisade, known as the ‘Peach and Wine Capital of Colorado,’ perfectly nestled along the Colorado River. Stop at a local family’s orchards, ‘Connect with Locals’ as you meet with family members and learn about the history of this farming family. Meet the bee-keeper and sample some fresh honey from the beehives, fresh in-season produce, salsas, jams and preserves, pickled veggies, grilling sauces and salad dressings. In addition to ten varieties of the famous Palisade Peaches, a wide variety of other fruit and vegetables are also grown on property (production varies depending on seasons). After, we head on to Colorado National Monument, preserving one of the grandest landscapes of the American West. But this treasure is much more than a monument. Towering monoliths exist within a vast plateau and canyon panorama. Experience sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive, where you may spy bighorn sheep and soaring eagles.This evening, stay in the heart of wine country at a Victorian-style hotel located just steps from downtown. This evening enjoy a ‘Be My Guest’ dinner at the Colterris Winery where you will be hosted by the owners, Scott and Theresa High. Tour the winery while learning about the High family history and their vineyards. Next, Scott and Teresa will host you for a “Be My Guest” dinner, set in a beautiful area in the vineyards. Enjoy a tasty dinner, paired with wines selected by Scott to perfectly complement the seasonal menu.

Day 6: Palisade – Ouray – Silverton – Durango

Head up the Western Slopes along the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway and stop in the must-see town of Ouray, nestled in some of the most rugged and towering peaks of the Rockies, and often referred to as the “Switzerland of America.” From Ouray, ride along the famous “Million Dollar Highway,” a designated All-American Byway and one of the state’s most scenic drives with some of Colorado’s most spectacular views as it spirals over Coal Bank Summit, Molas Pass, and Red Mountain Pass. Arrive in the mining town of Silverton, once a bawdy mining town, to board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Durango. Take a trip back in time as this coal-fired, steam-powered train chugs along rails that were originally laid at the end of the 19th century, winding through a wilderness which would be inaccessible by car. This evening, you’ll enjoy a night at The Strater Hotel, one of the West’s first iconic hotels and the centerpiece of Durango, your ‘Stay with Story.’

Day 7: Mesa Verde National Park

Admire the ancient cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloan people, carved out of the sandstone of the canyon walls, at the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park. Several hundred of these dwellings, in addition to thousands of known archaeological sites, are preserved in this protected area and you’ll have an opportunity to see several during your visit to the park. Later, indulge in free time in Durango with options of activities, including a fun rafting excursion on the Animas River. This evening, the choice is yours with a selection of Durango’s top three restaurants for a Your Choice Dining experience.

Day 8: Durango – Great Sand Dunes National Park Preserve – Colorado Springs

Today’s highlight is the Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve, a sandbox of epic proportions-39 square miles (101 square kilometers) with the tallest dune towering 750 feet (229 meters) high, making it the largest sand dune in North America. Start at the excellent Visitor Center with a short film and various exhibits. Then meet your Local Specialist and Park Ranger and learn about this unique geographical phenomenon as you explore the dunes before heading for Colorado Springs, our next destination for a two-night stay.

Day 9: Pikes Peak Cog Railway – Garden of the Gods – Olympic City USA

Board the historic Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the world’s highest cog railroad, for an unforgettable trip to the 14,115 foot (4,302 meters) summit of Pikes Peak. Ride past cascading streams and forests of aspen and pine, enjoy the striking panoramas and learn of Pikes Peak connection with the patriotic song “America the Beautiful”. Experience yet another natural wonder of Colorado as you visit the spectacular Garden of the Gods, a registered National Natural Landmark, boasting dramatic vistas and towering, jagged red-rock formations. Enjoy the magical town of Manitou Springs before heading to Olympic City USA, a 1.7-acre of land dedicated to Team USA. Visit the brand-new US Olympic and Paralympic Museum and Hall of Fame. You will be guided through the museum by athletes in training, giving you a unique insight into the daily lives and regimen of Team USA. The rest of the day is free before a unique and exclusive Farewell Dinner experience, paired with wine.

Day 10: Colorado Springs – United States Air Force Academy – Depart Denver

Our journey ends today as we say a fond farewell to new friends and depart Colorado Springs for Denver, but not before one last stop at the United States Air Force Academy for a glimpse at the daily life of a cadet in training. Then transfer to Denver International Airport. Airport arrival time will be approximately 12:00 p.m., please be aware when booking your flights.

Day 1: Arrive Las Vegas

The desert playground of Las Vegas launches our encounter with the soul-stirring natural landscapes of America’s most beloved national parks. This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a Welcome Reception and then soar 550 feet above the center of the Las Vegas Strip on the High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel.

Day 2: Las Vegas – Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks

Zion National Park’s towering cream, pink and red cliffs are our first stop today as we journey towards the enchanting landscapes of Bryce Canyon. Admire the rusty red limestone spires that rise up surreally from the desert floor to meet Utah’s skies.

Day 3: Bryce Canyon – Salt Lake City

Travel north to Utah’s capital to see its Mormon centre – Temple Square – and discover the basic beliefs and history of the Mormon pioneers. This evening, choose to enjoy an optional dinner at the Roof Restaurant, Utah’s premier gourmet dining location.

Day 4: Salt Lake City – Montpelier – Jackson

Imagine a time when brave pioneers travelled West in search of a better life as you cross the Oregon Trail, stopping in Montpelier at the Oregon Trail Center. Enjoy lunch at a covered wagon-themed restaurant before departing to scenic Jackson, which stands in the shadows of the icy peaks of the Teton Range. Enjoy an evening at leisure.

Day 5: Jackson – Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks

Cross the alpine landscapes of Grand Teton National Park en route to Yellowstone’s geothermal wonderland. We overnight at one of the lodges within the national park.

Enjoy a full day to explore the natural splendour of one of the world’s oldest national parks. Day 7: Yellowstone – Cody – Billings

Pay tribute to “Buffalo Bill” in his hometown of Cody, where you’ll visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West museum complex to gain a deeper understanding of the “Spirit of the American West”. Then it’s on to Big Sky Country where we ‘Connect with Locals’ in an effortlessly delivered authentic encounter with true Western hospitality dinner.

Day 8: Billings – Little Bighorn – Rapid City

Our day begins with a visit to Little Bighorn, the infamous battlefield where the ill-fated Custer led his men against a battalion of Sioux and Cheyenne warriors. Continue east through the Black Hills to Rapid City.

Day 9: Black Hills Excursion

Venture into the Black Hills of South Dakota as you make your way to the base of Crazy Horse Memorial. As you gaze at the colossal carved face of this famous war leader, learn how your visit ‘Makes a Difference’ by preserving Native American Culture. We continue to Mount Rushmore to view the faces of former American presidents etched into the granite rock-face, then ‘Dive into Culture’ with Stephen Yellowhawk, who will regale you with stories of his tribe’s history during a festive dinner.

Day 10: Rapid City – Denver

Travel south through the expansive prairies of Wyoming to Denver, the Mile High City, where you’ll enjoy an evening with a light dinner.

Day 11: Denver – Vail – Moab

Ascend into the foothills of the Rockies and cross the Continental Divide en route to the alpine village of Vail, renowned for its epic powder-filled alpine basins that have attracted skiers since the 1960s. We continue to Moab for an evening on your terms.

Day 12: Canyonlands and Arches National Parks Excursion

Our national park journey takes us to Canyon Country, where we see first-hand the power of the Colorado River carving its way through the rocky red landscape at Canyonlands National Park. Next up, the Arches National Park provides an insightful encounter with thousands of natural sandstone arches formed by rain and wind where you may choose to take a short hike to iconic Delicate Arch view point.

Day 13: Moab – Mesa Verde National Park – Monument Valley

Admire the ancient cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloan people, carved out of the sandstone of the canyon walls at the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park. Our connection with the first nations of this land continues as we enjoy a cookout Regional Dinner in Monument Valley.

Day 14: Monument Valley – Grand Canyon National Park

Explore the red valley floor of Monument Valley in a special open-air vehicle, accompanied by a Local Specialist. Visit the land of the Navajo people, stopping at the historic Cameron Trading Post, before arriving at the UNESCO-listed Grand Canyon where you’ll meet a Local Specialist. Gain a deeper understanding of into how this immense canyon came to be and why, as Theodore Roosevelt once proclaimed, “it is beyond comparison-beyond description”. Toast to the Trafalgar Highlights of America’s national parks and enjoy a Farewell Dinner with new friends inside the park.

Day 15: Grand Canyon – Depart Las Vegas

Consider an optional helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft flightseeing trip over the canyon before hitting the road again. End your journey in Las Vegas where a transfer is provided to Las Vegas International Airport or to Harrah’s Las Vegas for guests extending their stay.

Day 3: Canyonlands and Arches National Parks Excursion

This morning, we’ll arrive at the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park, we’ll enjoy a rare opportunity to delve into the history and culture of the once-flourishing community of the Ancestral Pueblo people. Explore their beautifully preserved dwellings hewn from the sandstone cliff centuries ago and look down at the massive Cliff Palace, the largest cliff dwelling in the world. This evening, we join our generous Navajo hosts for a traditional cookout Regional Dinner against the surreal backdrop of Monument Valley.

Day 5: Monument Valley – Grand Canyon National Park

The arresting beauty of Monument Valley is ours to explore this morning as we join a Local Specialist for a drive in an open-air vehicle past its towering sandstone buttes and mesas that rise up from the barren landscape. We continue through the ancestral home of the Navajo, arriving at Cameron Trading Post for a quick shopping stop and perhaps a taste of traditional fry bread. Driving along the scenic Desert View Drive, we skirt the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and gaze into its mesmerising multi-coloured depths before meeting another Local Specialist to gain insights into its geologic life. Our grand adventure almost at its end, we join our fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner to reminisce over the epic landscapes encountered along our journey.

Day 6: Grand Canyon National Park – Las Vegas

Rise early to catch the first rays of light as they illuminate the canyon. Consider an optional helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft flightseeing trip to view this feat of nature from the sky or enjoy a leisurely morning, before we journey to Sin City. Desolation gives way to desert oases as we cruise back in time past motels, diners and gas stations towards the dazzling lights of Las Vegas.

Day 7: Depart Las Vegas

Historic Trains of the Old West

Take a ride back in time on an escorted holiday in Colorado and New Mexico. Begin with sightseeing in the “Mile High City” of Denver, including the historic Union Station in stylish lower downtown (LoDo). Then travel south and be awed by the natural surroundings of the Royal Gorge Route Railroad into the gorge and along the Arkansas River—noted by Teddy Roosevelt as “the trip that bankrupts the English language.” Then visit Colorado Springs to explore the Garden of the Gods with its sandstone formations below majestic Pikes Peak. Travel to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a trolley tour of this historic town, and see the artistic and mysterious sites of Spanish, Native American, and religious legend. See the Miracle Stairway of Loreto’s Chapel, and other inspiring sights. Visit the ancient cliff – dwellings of Bandelier National Monument and spend time exploring the historic Taos Plaza. Continue north to Colorado for the mountain town of Durango, founded in the gold – rush and silver – mining era, and visit Mesa Verde National Park.

Day 1: Arrive In Denver

Welcome to colourful Colorado! At 6 pm, meet your travelling companions for a welcome drink. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

Day 2: Denver – Royal Gorge Route Railway – Colorado Springs

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Denver this morning to see historic Union Station, the Mile High Stadium, and the U.S. Mint. Then it’s on to the Royal Gorge for a unique experience, the spectacular Royal Gorge Route Railway, noted by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1905 as “the trip that bankrupts the English language.” This memorable journey will travel through beautiful scenery, into the Royal Gorge, and along the Arkansas River. Later, travel to Colorado Springs to explore Garden Of The Gods, featuring 92 metre (300 – foot) towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snowcapped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies.

Day 3: Colorado Springs – Santa Fe

Leave Colorado Springs and travel south into New Mexico, the “Land of Enchantment” to the charming city of Santa Fe, the oldest seat of government in the United States. In addition to its history and culture, Santa Fe is home to many art galleries with a diverse visual arts scene spanning ancient traditional art to modern contemporary. Dinner this evening is at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Santa Fe – Excursion to Chimayo

Experience Santa Fe up close as you embark on a guided Trolley Tour of the many historic buildings, revealing the town’s Spanish, Native American, and early settlers’ heritage. Main sights include the San Miguel Mission, Palace of the Governors, Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, and Loretto Chapel’s “Miracle Stairway.” We then visit nearby Chimayo, which was founded in the 17th century by Spanish settlers. Enjoy lunch at the Rancho de Chimayo, located in a centuryold adobe home, serving some of the best New Mexican cuisine. Visit Santuario De Chimayo and learn about the miraculous healing powers that still attract thousands of pilgrims each year. Return to Santa Fe, where the remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 5: Santa Fe – Bandelier National Monument – Taos –  Durango

Leave Santa Fe, stopping to explore the ancient Anasazi Puebloans and their cliff dwellings at Bandelier National Monument. Visit the adobe town of Taos for free time to explore. Continue into Colorado for Durango, a town born in the Gold Rush and silver – mining era. Tonight, perhaps browse the many shops on Main Street, or enjoy a cold pint at one of the city’s local breweries.

Day 6: Durango – Excursion to Mesa Verde National Park

Today, visit Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See Spruce Tree House, one of the best – preserved cliff dwellings. Also, visit the museum that depicts the story of the people who once thrived on this 2440 metre (8,000 – foot) plateau, and stop at a great vantage point for pictures of Cliff Palace (one of the largest of the 700 – year – old Anasazi dwellings). Return to Durango for a guided tour of the D&SNG Railway Museum and free time to see the exhibits including an extensive model train layout.

Day 7: Durango – Rail Journey to Silverton – Glenwood Springs

This morning, board the Durango & Silverton Narrow – Gauge Railroad for a scenic ride through San Juan National Forest. The legendary steam train hugs steep canyon walls as it winds its way through Rio de las Animas Canyon. Arrive in Silverton, once a major mining town that owes its name to the bragging statement by an early miner: “We have no gold, but silver by the ton!” Then, continue to Glenwood Springs for an overnight stay at the historic Hotel Colorado, open for more than 125 years hosting special guests like President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt And The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Day 8: Glenwood Springs – Georgetown Loop Railroad – Denver

Travel through the beautiful Colorado mountains and board the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, sit back and relax as you enjoy the beauty of the rugged Rocky Mountains plus views of Clear Creek Canyon. This afternoon, continue east to Denver, where your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner. Wonderful conversation and cuisine make the perfect finale for your holiday.

Meet your Tour Director this morning and head north to Wyoming, then continue into the Black Hills. At 6 pm, join your fellow travel companions for a welcome drink. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

Day 3: Rapid City – Excursion to Crazy Horse & Mount Rushmore Memorials

After an orientation tour of Rapid City, visit Crazy Horse Memorial, built in honour of the fearless Sioux chief whose fame is derived from the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Then, on to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, featuring the likenesses of U.S. presidents – Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt – carved on the face of a mountain. Maybe stroll along the Presidential Trail for more intimate views, or visit the Information centre.

Day 4: Rapid City – Deadwood – Sheridan

This morning, enjoy a drive through Black Hills National Forest and experience the area’s colourful history on a guided tour of Deadwood, once a wild gold – mining town, and hear stories of legendary Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. Continue through the Black Hills to the cattle town of Sheridan at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5: Sheridan – Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument – Cody

Journey this morning into southern Montana to visit Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, the site commemorating one of America’s most famous battles. Tour the battlegrounds where Custer was defeated by approximately 7,000 Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors, and visit the museum. Afterward, continue your scenic drive through the Bighorn Mountains, arriving in Cody with time for an optional float trip on the Shoshone River.

Day 6: Cody – Yellowstone National Park

This morning, visit the Buffalo Bill centre Of The West, a fine museum of historic weapons and Western art. Then, continue through Shoshone National Forest to Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the world’s first national park, where wild animals roam freely in vast meadows and forests. Enjoy several photo stops on the way to your hotel, including world – famous Old Faithful Geyser.

Special Feature: Enjoy two nights inside Yellowstone National Park. Each lodge has its own unique setting and atmosphere. Lodges featured are the Old Faithful Inn, Lake Yellowstone Hotel, Old Faithful Snow Lodge, Grant Village, and Canyon Lodge. Specific lodges will be confirmed in your documents.

Day 7: Yellowstone National Park

Spend the day exploring Yellowstone. Travel along Grand Loop Road to Fountain Paint Pot to see the bubbling mud. Continue on to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone for magnificent views of the spectacular Lower Falls –  almost twice as high as Niagara Falls! Next, stop at Mammoth Hot Springs and take a short trail walk among the steaming limestone terraces.

Day 8: Yellowstone National Park – Grand Teton National Park – Jackson

Journey south this morning into breathtaking Grand Teton National Park. Visit beautiful glacier – fed Jenny Lake at the foot of the rugged spires for a delightful walk along the shore. Enjoy a freshly made Huckleberry Shake while admiring the beautiful surroundings. Then, continue to the all – Western town of Jackson. This evening, travel by horse – drawn covered wagons into Cache Creek Canyon and experience dinner at the Bar T – 5 Chuckwagon Cookout and Wild West show. Feast on slow – cooked chicken made in traditional Dutch ovens, along with other local specialties.

Day 9: Jackson                 

Spend an entire day at leisure to enjoy this spectacular playground. Perhaps choose an optional float trip along the Snake River or stroll along the downtown boardwalks, enjoy a drink at one of the local saloons, or shop for your favourite western wear.

Day 10: Jackson – Salt Lake City

Today’s journey continues alongside some of Wyoming’s most beautiful mountain ranges into Utah, home to five national parks. Arrive in Salt Lake City, founded by Brigham Young in 1847. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the capital city and its historic monuments before arriving at your hotel.

Day 11: Salt Lake City – Bryce Canyon National Park

Day 12: Bryce Canyon National Park – Zion National Park – Lake Powell

Travel to Zion National Park with its dramatic landscape of sculptured canyons and soaring cliffs resembling temples and cathedrals. Your sightseeing tour gives you the chance to experience the park up close and personal. Then, continue into Arizona and the town of Page, nestled on the shores of Lake Powell.

Day 13: Lake Powell – Painted Desert – Grand Canyon National Park

This morning, you may wish to join our optional flight over Monument Valley for a bird’s – eye view of the red – sandstone monoliths, made famous by many Western movies and TV shows. Afterward, cross the Painted Desert with its ever – changing colours, and catch your first glimpse of the world – famous Grand Canyon National Park, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Afternoon arrival allows free time to explore the canyon rim on your own. Be sure to take an evening stroll to savour the magnificent sunset.

Depart the glittering lights and glamour of Las Vegas for one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Grand Canyon National Park. Carved through the rocks of the Colorado Plateau over millions of years, the canyon is more than a mile deep and 16 kilometres (10 miles) wide, revealing billions of years of geological history. Tonight, savour a sunset in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Day 3: Grand Canyon National Park – Monument Valley

This morning, you may want to join an exciting helicopter flight over the canyon or enjoy a hike on one of the many trails. We then travel north through Arizona and into the Navajo Nation for a 4 – Wheel – Drive tour of Monument Valley. Your local Navajo guide will show you some of the valley’s most incredible scenery and share their local legends and lore. Tonight will be spent at historic Goulding’s Lodge, where you will be treated to a Navajo Cookout and learn about the local Dineh (people) who call this land home.

Day 4: Monument Valley – Arches National Park – Moab

Today, continue north to Moab to explore the incredible landscape of Arches National Park. The park contains more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches and formations, including Balanced Rock, Park Avenue, and Delicate Arch. Tonight, enjoy your evening at leisure by visiting one of the many shops on Main Street.

Day 5: Moab – Colorado National Monument – Grand Junction – Denver

This morning, travel east into Colorado and visit the Colorado National Monument for sweeping views of sheer – walled canyons and the desert land of the high Colorado Plateau below. Stop in Colorado’s wine country, where you’ll enjoy lunch and a Wine Tasting. We then journey east across the Rocky Mountains to the “Mile High City” of Denver. This evening, why not stroll the city’s pedestrian 16th Street Mall and take advantage of the shopping, dining, and entertainment?

Day 6: Denver – Custer State Park

Today, travel across the windswept landscape of Wyoming and into the Black Hills of South Dakota. Spend the next two nights in beautiful Custer State Park. Formed in 1897, the park is the second – largest state park in America. Its 73,000 breathtaking acres are home to a variety of wildlife, including bison, pronghorn antelope, mountain goats, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep, mountain lions, wild burros, and elk.

Special Feature: Stay at the historic State Game Lodge, which served as the “Summer White House” for President Calvin Coolidge. Relax with a cool drink on the front porch and let Mother Nature entertain you.

Day 7: Custer State Park – Excursion To Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse Memorial

This morning, visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial, which stands as a shrine to democracy. The epic sculpture depicts the faces of four legendary American presidents who symbolise this nation’s rich history, rugged determination, and lasting achievement. Then, visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, built in honour of the fearless Sioux Indian chief, whose fame is derived from the Battle of Little Bighorn. Learn about the sculpture, his family, and the future of the project. Later, return to Custer State Park and be a part of an exciting Buffalo Safari. Have your camera ready for great photo opportunities. Then, enjoy an old – fashioned Chuckwagon Cookout, complete with Western entertainment.

Day 8: Custer State Park – Deadwood – Sheridan

Start today by exploring the Wild West town of Deadwood. Take a journey through time as you travel down cobblestone streets and hear stories of all the legendary characters that contributed to the town’s history, such as Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Potato Creek Johnny. Next enjoy a photo stop of infamous Devil’s Tower, before continuing west to the frontier town of Sheridan.

Day 9: Sheridan – Yellowstone National Park

This morning, travel to Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the world’s first national park. Spend the next two days exploring the beauty of this National treasure, spanning nearly 5600 square kilometres (3,500 square miles) atop a volcanic hot spot.

Day 11: Yellowstone National Park – Grand Teton National Park – Jackson

Journey south today and visit Grand Teton National Park. The park’s world – renowned scenery attracts more than 4 million visitors per year. See beautiful glacier – fed Jenny Lake and stroll along the shore before continuing to Jackson. This evening, why not visit the Antler Arches, enjoy a drink at one of the swinging – door saloons, or shop for the perfect cowboy hat?

Day 12: Jackson – Salt Lake City

Continue your journey south today through Wyoming and into Utah. Arrive in Salt Lake City, founded by Mormon pioneer Brigham Young in 1847. More recently, the city played host to the 2002 Olympics and now offers a vibrant downtown with a variety of stores, attractions, and restaurants. Enjoy an orientation tour before arriving at your hotel.

Day 13: Salt Lake City – Bryce Canyon National Park

Today’s highlight is a visit to unique Bryce Canyon National Park. Here, you’ll discover a breathtaking landscape full of pinnacles of stone and colours that defy the imagination. This evening, why not do some stargazing? Bryce is one of the best places to view stars because of its remote location and lack of pollution. On some nights, more than 7,500 stars are visible.
