Day 1: Arrive New York City

Guests will have a New York frame of mind as they explore the city as the locals do. Look up and see the impressive skyline which will be your companion throughout this in-depth exploration of New York City, the city that never sleeps. Whether you walk, take the subway, hail a cab or grab a ride share, you’ll want to jump in immediately upon arrival. The first day is yours to explore to your heart’s content before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening for a rooftop Welcome Reception at your centrally located Midtown Manhattan hotel.

Day 2: New York City Guided Sightseeing

Start your day off with a sightseeing journey through the city. From the glamorous penthouses uptown, to the bright lights of Broadway, to the charming cafes downtown you’ll have front row seats as you begin to understand what makes this vibrant city tick. Continue to adventure through The Big Apple’s iconic sights before heading to Rockefeller Center, where you’ll ascend to the Top of The Rock for dramatic views of the Manhattan skyline. After some time for lunch, venture over to the Upper East Side where you’ll visit the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art. The renowned museum is globally respected for its incredible curated collection of art and artifacts that span a 5,000 year history. You’ll have the opportunity to go on a tour led by a Local Specialist to get to know the secrets of the museum’s paintings, sculptures, architecture, and more. Just outside of the walls of The Met lies Central Park. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of New York’s favorite playground. Designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Olmsted, this beautiful spot for urban respite is often considered his greatest masterpiece – highlights include Tavern on the Green and the John Lennon Memorial at Strawberry Fields. This evening make sure to ask your Travel Director for recommendations on the city’s best eats.

Day 3: New York City Sightseeing and Free Time

We’ll make sure you start your day off as the locals do with breakfast at a NYC diner. Enjoy a short stack of pancakes or perhaps a local favorite – a bagel with lox, before embarking on a behind-the-scenes walking tour of Broadway. You will learn how a show is created from the first rehearsal to when the curtain rises and all the craziness in between. You’ll also have the chance to get up close and personal with a performer from a Broadway show. This afternoon you are free to experience the city on your own terms. You can also join in on an Optional activity to dive deeper into the life of a New Yorker: For example, you can take an in depth guided tour of Manhattan’s west side, from the historic Meatpacking District up to the growing Hudson Yards neighborhood via The High Line, an incredible park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets of the city. Enjoy your choice of dinner this evening, NYC has a vibrant restaurant scene that is second to none. Pick one of two spots that are local favorites.

Day 4: New York City Sightseeing and Free Time

Today you’ll be able to discover what makes each pocket of this city unique. This morning you’ll have the opportunity to learn the poignant history of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. After learning how resilient and strong the city of New York truly is, you’ll have the afternoon to see the city in your own way or join in on one of Optionals curated by city experts. Opt for a view of the Statue of Liberty or a trip through the Lower East Side. One great option is a walking tour across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Once across you’ll arrive in the neighborhood of DUMBO where you can take in views of Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge Park before getting to know the charming cobblestone streets. Say farewell to your fellow New York Explorers over dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5: Depart New York City

Say goodbye to energetic New York and your newfound friends, then take a transfer to the airport or extend your stay.

Day 1: Arrive New York City

Day 2: New York City

New York City is one of the world’s most exciting cities, buzzing with atmosphere and packed with fascinating sights. On today’s guided sightseeing tour, see the major attractions – Broadway, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller centre, bustling Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street, and Trinity Church. This evening, choose from the city’s many fine restaurants or maybe take in a Broadway show.

Day 3: New York City – Corning – Niagara Falls

Depart Manhattan, heading across New Jersey through the Poconos and into upstate New York, arriving in Corning midday. Late this afternoon, cross the border to the Canadian side of the Niagara River in Ontario. Spend the next two nights in beautiful Niagara Falls.

Day 4: Niagara Falls

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing excursion to Niagara Falls that includes a Sightseeing Cruise past the world – famous falls. Your afternoon is free, so consider visiting the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, Botanical Gardens, and Niagara Parks Greenhouse, or maybe ride the aerial cable car.

Note: Operation of the Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise is subject to favourable weather and/or river conditions. When weather is unfavourable, a walking tour through the scenic tunnels will be substituted.

Day 5: Niagara Falls – Philadelphia

Head southeast through the Appalachian Mountains and into the Susquehanna River Valley. Then, on to the handsome city of Philadelphia for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Philadelphia – Washington DC Area

The birthplace of American independence, the “City of Brotherly Love” is steeped in history. Your morning orientation tour focuses on the historic landmarks, then on to the U.S. capital and seat of government, Washington DC, for a 2 – night stay. Later, join the optional outing, featuring dinner and a tour of the city’s most famous monuments and memorials.

Day 7: Washington DC Area

The nation’s capital is a sightseeing treasure trove, and your half – day tour with a Local Guide features a visit to Arlington National Cemetery to see the graves of American heroes, including those of John and Robert Kennedy. See the Lincoln and National WWII Memorials, Washington Monument, with photo stops at Capitol Hill, the White House, and other wellknown sights. The afternoon is free. Your Tour Director will make suggestions for independent exploration.

Day 8: Depart Washington DC Area

Your holiday ends this morning. You can extend your holiday with extra nights and explore Washington DC further. For passengers who would like to return to New York City, the motorcoach will transfer you to your New York hotel at no additional cost.

Your morning guided tour of Boston highlights the historic sites of the Freedom Trail: Boston Common, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, and the Old North Church. Day 3: Boston – New York City

Depart Boston and head south to the “Big Apple.” New York City began its extraordinary history as the Dutch settlement of New Amsterdam. Upon arrival, take an optional cruise of New York Harbor past the magnificent skyscrapers and historical landmarks that make this the most recognisable skyline in the world. The remainder of your day and evening are at leisure. Perhaps take in a Broadway show this evening.

Day 4: New York City

Today begins with a guided tour of the city’s most famous sights: Times Square, Rockefeller centre, the Financial District, and Chinatown. Afterward, you are free to explore more of New York at your leisure. Perhaps visit the Tenement Museum, and hear the stories of some of the 12 million immigrants who entered the United States between 1892 and 1954. Enjoy a walk along the unique Highline, a park created on a historic elevated New York Central Railroad spur; or go window shopping on fashionable Fifth Avenue. Your Tour Director will be available to help you with additional sightseeing plans as well as give shopping and dining suggestions.

Day 5: New York City – Philadelphia

This morning, travel to the “City of Brotherly Love,” once the largest English – speaking colonial city in the world after London. Afternoon sightseeing focuses on sites important to the birth of the United States. Visit the Liberty Bell and learn how this State House bell was transformed into an extraordinary symbol. Also visit Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.

Day 6: Philadelphia – Washington DC

Depart the “handsome city” of Philadelphia for the U.S. capital founded on July 16, 1790, and the seat of government, Washington DC. Located along the Potomac River on the East Coast, this cosmopolitan city holds an unmatched cache of the country’s history, sites, and artifacts. “DC” (the District of Columbia) was created to establish a central location for the running of the government. Your afternoon is free for independent exploration. The nation’s capital has an endless list of things to do, from museums packed with history to a thriving restaurant scene.

Day 7: Washington DC

Begin this morning’s sightseeing with a Local Guide and visit Arlington National Cemetery to see the graves of American heroes, including those of John and Robert Kennedy.
