Day 2: Buenos Aires 

Discover this unique city with its mix of colonial architecture and European influences on an excursion that portrays the many faces of Buenos Aires. This evening learn the dance of romance with a tango lesson from the dancers of tonight´s tango show followed by dinner. Enjoy delicious international cuisine with Argentinian specialties. The tango show traces the history of the dance from its birth in the red light districts

Day 3: Buenos Aires 

The day is free at leisure for you to explore Buenos Aires before joining an exclusive Argentine culinary experience this evening. The Argentine Experience is designed to give you an introduction to the best of Argentine cuisine and culture. This is not a cooking class, but a fun and unique experience. The team of guides are on hand to take you through every step of this culinary journey. Choose your gourmet fillings and create your own empanada, learning the traditional ‘replunge’ technique. Alongside your creations, enjoy grilled provoleta cheese with sliced chorizo and homemade chimichurri. Enjoy what many claim to be the very best steak in Argentina, cooked to order. There will be wines from boutique wineries in Mendoza, paired to complement your meal. For dessert make your own alfajores, Argentina’s national sweet. Finally, learn about the history and etiquette of drinking mate, Argentina’s national pastime, and prepare it from scratch

Day 4: Buenos Aires – Iguazu Falls 

Fly to Iguazu Falls where you will spend the next two nights

Day 5: Iguazu Falls 

Visit the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls, located within Iguazu National Park. In this section of the rainforest a huge variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies can be seen while walking. Head to Estacion Central, where you will board the train to Devil’s Throat station. Walk along the 1,200m trail, to the most spectacular fall, Devil’s Throat. Spend the rest of the day exploring the numerous hiking trails

Day 6: Iguazu Falls – Bariloche 

Fly to Bariloche via Buenos Aires

Day 7: Bariloche  

Today you will traverse the Andes by boat across crystalline lakes and breathtaking mountain scenery. Your excursion starts in Bariloche and, after a scenic ride along Ezequiel Bustillo Ave, you arrive at Panuelo Port where you will board the catamaran and sail to Puerto Blest, on the western coast of Nahuel Huapi Lake. The deep blue waters of the lake are dotted with islands and are great for watersports including kayaking and rafting. The soaring peaks provide picture-postcard views and the shimmering turquoise blues of the lake of the Argentinian Patagonia make this one of the most beautiful and visited regions in Argentina

Day 8: Bariloche

Fly to El Calafate where you will spend the next three nights

Day 10: El Calafate – Perito Moreno Glacier – El Calafate 

Travel from El Calafate, across the Patagonia steppe, to the entrance of the National Park. Visit the World Heritage Site of Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the most impressive glaciers in the world. This ice field is breathtaking with the thunderous noise of ice chunks breaking off and tumbling into the water

Day 11: El Calafate – Gourmet Glacier Cruise – El Calafate 

Today cruise among white and blue icebergs for views of the spectacular Upsala Glacier. Cross the narrowest passage in the lake and after two hours of cruising stop in front of the barrier of ice floes. If the weather conditions are good, you will observe the Upsala Glacier at a distance. A gourmet lunch, offering the best of the Argentine cuisine, is served amidst this stunning landscape.

Day 1: Arrive Santiago

Connect with the cosmopolitan verve of the Chilean capital, Santiago. On arrival, you’ll enjoy a warm Trafalgar welcome and be transferred to your luxury hotel in fashionable Las Condes. Spend the rest of the day on your terms discovering the unique personalities of each of the city’s diverse barrios. This evening, join your Travel Director and fellow travel companions for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2: Santiago Sightseeing

This morning’s city tour with a Local Specialist includes a stop at the ornate wrought-iron Central Market where we’ll see the catch of the day and stroll past pop-up restaurants serving local favourites. We journey to wine country, visiting an exclusive winery in Casablanca Valley for a gourmet lunch served alfresco in exquisite surrounds. ‘Dive into Culture’ and meet the winemakers for a personalised winery experience, followed by an opportunity to taste the fruit of his labours. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Santiago – Puerto Montt – Puerto Varas

We fly south to the coastal city of Puerto Montt, then continue to Puerto Varas for a tour of the “City of Roses” against the backdrop of snow-capped volcanoes. Later, we make our way to our hotel on the shores of Lake Llanquihue where we’ll enjoy the rest of the day at leisure and an included dinner.

Day 4: Puerto Varas – Lake Crossing – Bariloche

Look forward to a day of pinch me moments as you cross the Andes via land and water. Our first stop sees us watch the burbling waters of the Petrohue River cascade over black volcanic rock. We’ll cross Todos Los Santos Lake, keeping a keen eye out for giant Andean condors as the mighty Osorno Volcano with its white cap looms in the background. Admire the soul-stirring landscapes en route to Peulla where we’ll enjoy lunch. Then, cross the border into Argentina and cruise the glacial waters of Lake Nahuel Huapi. We’ll arrive in Bariloche this evening.

Day 5: Bariloche Sightseeing

Soak up the sights and sounds of the “Switzerland of South America” this morning, breathing in the fresh alpine air. We’ll meet our Local Specialist and travel along the “Circuito Chico” for spectacular views of forests, mountains and sparkling waters in Nahuel Huapi National Park. Visit the beach playground of Playa Bonita, soak up the scenery from the hilltop of St. Edward’s Chapel on the Llao Llao Peninsula, and ride a chairlift to the top of Cerro Campanario for sweeping views of the high peaks of Catedral and Tronador. ‘Dive into Culture’ and indulge in the rich flavours of chocolate during a visit to Bariloche’s Chocolate Museum, then spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6: Bariloche – Buenos Aires

Leaving spectacular Patagonian landscapes behind, we fly to the passionate Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires. This evening, we’ll ‘Connect with Locals’, joining our Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Be My Guest dinner with a local family in Palermo Soho. Savour traditional flavours and homemade family dishes, then discover the secrets of kneading country bread. Our unforgettable local encounter continues as we watch family members engage in an elegant Tango performance.

Day 7: Buenos Aires Sightseeing

Immerse yourself in the seamless mix of European elegance meets Latin energy. We’ll join a ‘Local Specialist’ to see some of Buenos Aires’ most notable sites, including the Plaza de Mayo and iconic pink Casa Rosada. View the fashionable neighbourhood of La Boca, admire the opulent façade of Teatro Colon and drive along the stately Avenida 9 de Julio to the elegant Recoleta cemetery, where Argentina’s most famous sons and daughters have been laid to rest. We pay homage to the beloved former first lady of Argentina, Eva Peron, before enjoying an afternoon at leisure. Day 8: Buenos Aires

Get a taste of life as a porteño this morning, embracing the energy of this passionate South American hub on your terms. Perhaps, admire the works of Degas, El Greco and Van Gogh at the Museum of Bellas Artes or stroll around the colourful stalls that line one of the local markets. Take to the countryside and consider spending the day at a traditional estancia (ranch) for the the Fiesta Gaucha (festival of the cowboy), where you’ll be entertained by a lively equestrian show and enjoy a traditional parrillada (barbecue) lunch.

Day 9: Buenos Aires – Iguassu Falls

Journey to the thundering cascade of Iguassu Falls, where we’ll meet our Local Specialist for a visit to the UNESCO-listed Iguassu National Park. Board an open-air ecological jungle train delving deep into its subtropical rainforest. Walk along the catwalk peering down into the swirling waters of Devil’s Throat Falls. We’ll cross the border into Brazil for an evening at leisure and dinner at our resort.

Day 10: Iguassu Falls Sightseeing

Rediscover the ‘Big Waters’ and return to Iguassu National Park, where you’ll join a Local Specialist who will guide your discovery of the Brazilian side of the falls. Day 11: Iguassu Falls – Rio de Janeiro

We bid farewell to the falls and fly to sultry Rio de Janeiro. You’ll be transferred to your hotel overlooking the colourful Copacabana Beach.

Day 12: Rio de Janeiro Sightseeing

Begin your exploration of the cidade maravilhosa (marvellous city) with your Local Specialist, ascending Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car for astounding bay and city views. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure or consider an optional cruise on Guanabara Bay viewing Rio’s picturesque city skyline and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Day 13: Rio de Janeiro Sightseeing

Board a classic cogwheel train for the journey to the summit of majestic Corcovado, site of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We join our Local Specialist to explore more of the city’s iconic sights. Later this afternoon, we’ll ‘Dive into Culture’ during a visit to a local Samba school where we’ll gain insights into how the school prepares for the pageantry of Carnival week. View the colourful costumes and immerse yourself in the rhythms of Samba as you participate in a dance lesson. This evening, the flavours of churrascaria linger at our Farewell Dinner. Welcome to the “City of Kings”. On arrival in the Peruvian capital of Lima, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the exclusive barrio of San Isidro. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception where you will meet your fellow travellers and Travel Director.

Day 2: Lima Sightseeing

Embark on a full day exploring Francisco Pizarro’s Capital of the New World. Immerse yourself in Lima’s UNESCO-listed Historic Center, admiring the Plaza de Armas with its iconic cathedral and government palace. Visit the Church of San Francisco, descending into the catacombs where Lima’s residents were buried for centuries. Later this morning, we’ll meet local chef Ignacio Barrios, joining him for a walk through a local market while he explains how the local produce is used in traditional Peruvian cooking. Visit his cooking school for a Be My Guest lunch where you’ll gain insights into preparing some of the most popular local dishes, then ‘Connect with Locals’ over lunch, sampling some of the dishes that were prepared. The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to explore on your terms.

Day 3: Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley

We’ll visit the Pisac market and admire the exquisitely crafted Quechuan wares. ‘Dive into Culture’ and meet Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez, a master Quechua weaver, and the first person from her village to attend university. She been an ambassador for Andean traditions since she began learning ancient pre-Columbian weaving techniques as a young girl in the 1960s. ‘Make a Difference’ as your visit helps to preserve and promote traditional pre-Columbian weaving techniques in the 21st century.

Day 4: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu

Our first stop on our journey back to the time of the Incas is Ollantaytambo, a former stronghold built using colossal stone blocks. We journey to the Lost City in the Clouds next, boarding the Vistadome train to the great citadel of Machu Picchu. Join your Local Specialist to explore the UNESCO-listed hilltop fortress including the great Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and intricately carved Intihuatana. We’ll dine at our hotel this evening.

Day 5: Machu Picchu – Cusco

Reconnect with Machu Picchu this morning. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike up to the Gate of the Sun to witness first-hand the beauty of the misty peak and valley below. Take a moment to admire the stonework and ancient engineering feats that went into building this mystical city on top of an isolated mountain. This afternoon, we board a train to Cusco, stopping en route at a local chicheria for a taste of chicha. ‘Dive into Culture’ and learn how this traditional Peruvian corn beer is brewed by the local women of the nearby village.

Day 6: Cusco Sightseeing

Gear up for a full-day of Cusco sightseeing. Explore the Inca and Spanish roots of the “Imperial City”, unlocking its best kept secrets with a Local Specialist. See the baroque Cathedral on the main Plaza de Armas, then delve deeper into the history of the Church of Santo Domingo, built atop Korikancha, the Temple of the Sun. Venture beyond the city to visit the intriguing megalith ruins of Sacsayhuaman. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure before gathering for a Regional Dinner at a local restaurant,. Savour Cusquenian gastronomy against the backdrop of a traditional dance performance.

Day 7: Cusco – Lima

We return to Lima where we’ll have an afternoon at leisure to explore the city or simply relax. Later, meet your Local Specialist and curator at the Larco Museum, home to the largest private collection of 7th century pre-Columbian art in the world. Gain insights into the evolution and culture of ancient Peruvian societies as you explore this 18th century vice-royal mansion. Tonight, we enjoy a Regional Dinner alfresco in the museum’s garden restaurant with all the essentials taken care of.

Day 1: Arrive In Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Welcome to South America’s largest and most populous country. This afternoon, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions for a drive along famous Ipanema and Copacabana Beaches to the base of 396 metre (1,300 foot) high Sugar Loaf Mountain. Ascend by cable car to its summit, where you can savour spectacular vistas of the city. Next, toast the start of a memorable holiday from atop Sugar Loaf Mountain with caipirinhas, a favourite Brazilian cocktail, during a welcome Cocktail Party.

Day 2: Rio De Janeiro

Today, visit the statue of Christ the Redeemer crowning Corcovado Mountain, a rounded peak rising 701 metre (2,300 feet) from the bay below. Take the scenic cog railway ride to its top, where a 360 – degree panorama affords sweeping views. Proceed to bustling downtown Rio. View the Sambodromo and visit the Cathedral. This afternoon, you may wish to join an optional trip into a local favela to see where 20% of Rio’s population lives. Visits include a community centre and a school. This evening, it’s off to a Churrascaria for a feast of barbecued meats marinated and roasted over charcoal in true Brazilian style.

Day 3: Rio De Janeiro

Day 4: Rio De Janeiro – Iguassu Falls

A flight from Rio takes you to Iguassu Falls. Experience the clouds of spray, the incessant roar, and the surrounding luxuriant tropical growth that make this an unforgettable natural wonder. Head into Brazil’s Iguassu National Park to enjoy the magnificent panorama of waterfalls from the Brazilian side. Your Local Guide introduces the spectacle of this 2 – mile – wide torrent. With some cataracts as high as 76 metre (250 feet), Iguassu Falls is nothing short of hypnotic!

Day 5: Iguassu Falls

Today, journey to the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls, where you will take the Ecological Jungle Train and enjoy a closer perspective on a walking tour of the falls. Meander along the walkways from atop the falls, and enjoy an exhilarating perspective looking over the precipice of the falls as the water plunges to the rocks below. You will also have the chance to walk through the rainforest on the lower falls trails that will bring you up close to some of the smaller falls. Return to the hotel, where the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 6: Iguassu Falls – Buenos Aires, Argentina

Today, fly to Buenos Aires. After arriving, an orientation walk acquaints you with the “Paris of South America” and its wide boulevards and outdoor cafes.

Day 7: Buenos Aires

Your sightseeing starts in La Boca, a colourful district and site of the city’s first port. Take a short walking tour of this unique neighbourhood and then on to San Telmo, famous for its late – colonial buildings and a popular gathering spot for artists. At Plaza de Mayo, see La Casa Rosada (the President’s Pink House) and the Metropolitan Cathedral, housing San Martin’s Mausoleum. Drive past the ornate Teatro Colon opera house before reaching Recoleta Cemetery, burial site of Eva Peron. Next, learn how to make a traditional Argentinean dish during your Empanada Cooking Class. After an afternoon at leisure, top off the evening at a famous Tango Club. Start with a Dance Lesson, followed by farewell dinner featuring Argentine steaks and other local specialties, and end with a show featuring flawless performances of Latin America’s most sensuous dance – the Tango!

Day 8: Buenos Aires – Excursion to the Pampas

Today, head into the heart of the pampas (grasslands) and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of rural, country life at a working Argentine Estancia (ranch). After a traditional welcome with empanadas and local beverages, get acquainted with the lifestyle of real gauchos (cowboys) on a horseback ride or carriage ride through the pampas. Later, at lunch, enjoy a colourful feast, complete with world – renowned Argentine beef, salad, desserts, local wine, and live music and dance by the gauchos themselves. Top off the day with a horsemanship show by the gauchos before saying adios to the countryside and heading back to the city.

Day 9: Buenos Aires

Enjoy a full day at leisure, with an optional excursion to cruise the Tigre Delta. Drive through the northern district and outskirts of the city to get to Tigre, a charming resort where a great number of summer residences and yachting and rowing clubs concentrate the weekend activities of many locals. Enjoy a relaxing cruise along the innumerable channels of the Parana Delta to see some of the hundreds of islands covered with luxuriant vegetation.

Day 10: Buenos Aires – Bariloche

Fly south to Bariloche in Patagonia on the shores of fjord – like Lago Nahuel Huapi in the heart of Argentina’s Lake District. Arrive in the early evening, with time to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque town centre. See the city hall, the clock tower in Municipality Square, and the famous chocolate factories.

Day 11: Bariloche

This chic alpine resort boasts some of the most glorious scenery in the country. Cameras should be ready for today’s guided sightseeing including a chairlift ride to a lookout point at Cerro Campanario. You’ll want to capture the vistas of surrounding lakes and Andes mountain peaks. The tour continues with a leisurely drive around the Llao Llao Peninsula, Lago Moreno, and Lopez Bay

Day 12: Bariloche – Puerto Varas, Chile

Set out today for your Andes Lake Crossing! Board a boat for the Cruise across Lago Nahuel Huapi to Puerto Blest. Proceed by motorcoach and see emerald lakes, thick pine forests, and the snowcapped peaks of the Andes Mountains. Look out for soaring Osorno Volcano as you cross Lago Todos los Santos by Catamaran. Skirt the southern shore of Lago Llanquihue on the way to Puerto Varas. Drive to your hotel along the rosebush – lined streets of this lakeside resort.

Day 13: Puerto Varas – Puerto Montt – Santiago

Your morning tour of the nearby seaport of Puerto Montt in Chilean Patagonia takes you to the harbor brimming with fishing vessels and along a busy waterfront lined with seafood stalls. Transfer to the airport for your flight north to Santiago. Perched between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes, Santiago has evolved as the country’s political, commercial, and cultural capital. Tonight, dinner is at the hotel.

Day 14: Santiago

Today, your Local Guide traces the city’s history and heritage on a guided city tour. Start at La Moneda, the official Government Palace, before heading to the Plaza de Armas, the main square, with a visit to the 18thcentury Cathedral. Continue into Chile’s nearby wine region and visit one of Chile’s oldest wineries, Concha Y Toro. A guided tour uncovers the vine – to – wine process that produces some of the world’s finest wines. This evening, you may opt to join a Chilean folkloric dinner show.

Day 15: Santiago

The day is free for independent activities. You may want to take advantage of an optional excursion to the beautiful coastal region west of Santiago. Drive through the hills of Chile’s wine country to the historic port of Valparaiso, and continue along the coast to nearby Vina del Mar. Tonight, your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner to celebrate a great touring adventure.

Day 16: Depart Santiago

Your tour ends with breakfast this morning.
