|Day 1: Arrive Hanoi||On arrival in Hanoi, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel located in the heart of the city. Later this evening, you’ll get to know your fellow travellers and your local guide during an informal gathering.

|Day 2: Hanoi, Duong Lam||Travel by coach to the ancient village of Duong Lam. Recognised as a national relic, it has a history of about 1,200 years with many houses dating back 400 years. On arrival, visit one of the oldest houses in the village, the home of the Huyen family who have lived here for generations. Then explore this quiet village and the tranquil countryside on foot or by bicycle. Visit Phung Hung Temple and Mia Pagoda before lunch at the house of a local family. Back in Hanoi, take an overnight rail journey to Lao Cai.

|Day 3: Lao Cai, Sapa||On arrival in Lao Cai this morning, disembark your train and transfer to Sapa, a quiet and visually stunning mountain town located in north-western Vietnam. After settling in to your resort, set off on a soft trekking tour to nearby Ta Phin, a picturesque village that’s home to the Kinh, Black Hmong and Red Dao people. This expedition offers great insight into the daily life of these ethnic hill tribes. Afterwards, return to Sapa for dinner.

|Day 4: Sapa, Lao Cai, Hanoi||SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE
This morning, a guided walking tour of Sapa and its famous colourful markets reveals the beauty of the region. A magical combination of breathtaking landscapes, ethnic cultures and bracing mountain air, the alpine village of Sapa has been a gathering spot for hundreds of years. Here, local hill tribes buy and sell household products, embroidery and handicrafts.
After lunch and some leisure time, transfer by coach back to Hanoi.

|Day 7: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay|| SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE
Farewell Hanoi as you travel by coach to Ha Long and embark on your three-day cruise on World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay.
Feel the wind in your hair as you set sail among thousands of spectacular limestone islets this afternoon, gliding slowly over the azure waters. Enjoy lunch on your way towards the south region of Ha Long Bay, keeping your camera handy as you pass Fighting Cocks and Titov islands. Later, your ship will drop anchor at Ban Chan Beach so you can go for a swim or participate in water activities. Relax on board during dinner tonight.

|Day 8: Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay||Perhaps enjoy Tai Chi on the sun deck during a leisurely morning spent cruising the bay. After lunch, your ship will sail towards Bai Tu Long Bay, an undeveloped region less frequented by tourists. Spend the afternoon swimming or kayaking before a guided visit to Thien Canh Son Cave. Tonight, perhaps try your hand at squid fishing with the crew.|
|Day 9: Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An||This morning, take a kayak or bamboo boat out to visit Vung Vieng fishing village before your ship returns to shore. Disembark and transfer to Hanoi airport for your included flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, take a scenic coach ride to the historic city of Hoi An. Arrive at your five-star hotel situated on the banks of the Thu Bon River. Here you will enjoy three relaxing nights amid Art Nouveau-inspired surrounds.

|Day 11: Hoi An||SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE
You can experience the true personality of a city at its markets and Hoi An is no exception. Today, you’ll venture into the colourful market to meet vendors and learn about the local ingredients you’ll use later during an exclusive cooking class with the Red Bridge Cooking School.
Take a boat cruise along the Hoi An River to the school and explore the herb garden before learning how to prepare Vietnamese dishes. Then, sample the results of your efforts for lunch.
|Day 12: Hoi An, Lang Co Beach, Hue||Your journey continues towards Hue as you travel past the towering Marble Mountains, a cluster of five marble and limestone hills located south of Da Nang. Visit the beautiful Lang Co Beach then cross the Hai Van Pass, one of the country’s most scenic and stunning hillside roads, as you continue on your way. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch in a lush garden before visiting Hue’s impressive Imperial Citadel and the tallest pagoda in Vietnam, the historic seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda. Tonight, be treated to an indulgent Emperor Feast, featuring sumptuous royal-inspired Vietnamese cuisine unique to this region.

Alternatively, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the war. |Day 16: Cai Be, Sa Dec||Step ashore in Cai Be to visit the French Gothic cathedral and a local rice paper manufacturer. Enjoy lunch back on board as you cruise towards Sa Dec. Here, enjoy a boat ride, then visit a Cao Dai temple.|
|Day 17: Tan Chau, Evergreen Island, Border Crossing||Take a small boat along the tiny tributaries that snake around Tan Chau, then step ashore for a rickshaw tour through the village. Visit an evergreen island, then perhaps attend a fruit-carving demonstration while border formalities are carried out.|
|Day 18: Phnom Penh||FREEDOM OF CHOICE™-Sightseeing
Enjoy a guided tour of the white and gold Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Alternatively, you may wish to discover some of Cambodia’s sobering history with a moving excursion to the infamous Killing Fields, before visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). Your other options are a visit to the National Museum or a guided city tour in a tuk tuk.
Perhaps rise early to take in Phnom Penh’s river promenade as your ship nears the capital. After disembarking, join your chosen activity.
|Day 19: Phnom Penh, Koh Chen||This morning in Phnom Penh, you can relax aboard your ship or discover the city’s attractions on your own. Later today, cruise to Koh Chen, a small village specialising in silverware and copperware.|
|Day 20: Oudong, Kampong Tralach||Disembark in Prek K’dam from where you’ll set off by coach on a morning tour of the graceful town of Oudong. Visit the monastery for a Buddhist blessing experience, then continue to Kampong Tralach to visit the Wat Kampong Tralach Pleu pagoda. Later, take an ox cart through rice fields back to your river ship.|
|Day 21: Kampong Chhnang||Enjoy a boat excursion into the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang. Then return to your ship and head back towards Prek K’dam. This evening, enjoy a delicious Farewell Dinner on board your ship.|

|Day 2: Cai Be, Sa Dec||A local boat will take you to the river-land town of Cai Be today. Once here, step ashore to visit the French Gothic cathedral as well as the colourful port area, which is filled with crumbling colonial buildings and delightful flowering gardens. The morning then takes you onwards to a rice paper manufacturer where you’ll see how Vietnamese rice paper is made. Lunch will be served back on board later as your ship cruises past scenes of charming rural life towards the quaint town of Sa Dec. This delightfully sleepy locale is where French writer Marguerite Duras met her Vietnamese-Chinese lover, Huynh Thuy Le. On arrival, tour Huynh Thuy Le’s old house and learn the story behind Marguerite Duras’ best-selling novel, The Lover. Later, pay a visit to a traditional Cao Dai temple. Watch visitors and pilgrims come and go, and appreciate the beauty of the building.|
|Day 3: Tan Chau, Evergreen Island, Border Crossing||Transfer to a small boat for a journey along the tiny tributaries that snake around the riverside town of Tan Chau. Cruise right past a floating fish farm, then step ashore for a rickshaw tour of Tan Chau. Ride past shops, rice wine rooms and friendly locals eager to say hello. Later, step back in time during a visit to an evergreen island where you’ll experience authentic rural Mekong life. The remainder of today is left free for you to relax on board your luxurious river ship. This afternoon, perhaps take in a fruit-carving demonstration by one of the ship’s chefs while border formalities are carried out and you cross into Cambodia. Alternatively, sit back and watch daily life unfold on the riverbanks before enjoying dinner later this evening. After entering Cambodia, your ship will continue to cruise overnight towards the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.|
|Day 4: Phnom Penh||FREEDOM OF CHOICE™ - Sightseeing
Today you may enjoy a guided tour of the dazzling white and gold Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, which is located on the south side of the palace complex and houses many national treasures. Alternatively, you may wish to discover some of Cambodia’s sobering history with a moving excursion to the infamous Killing Fields, before visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). Here, you’ll learn of the atrocities inflicted upon Cambodians during Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime in the mid-to-late 1970s. Your other options are a visit to the National Museum of Cambodia or a guided city tour in a tuk tuk which takes is an exciting way to take in a range of city sights, including the Independence Monument and Wat Phnom, a sacred Buddhist pagoda.

|Day 5: Phnom Penh, Koh Chen||With a free morning at hand in Phnom Penh, you may like to enjoy a restful start to the day and stay aboard your ship. Or, make use of your time in this beautiful city and head out on your own to discover the attractions. Your APT Cruise Director can provide inspiration should you need it. Later in the day, your ship will cruise to remote Koh Chen, a small village specialising in silverware and copperware. Here you’ll visit some of the home-workshops that manufacture handmade copper souvenirs. Watch the clever artisans at work and perhaps purchase a memento of your journey.|
|Day 6: Prek K’dam, Oudong, Kampong Tralach||Today you’ll step ashore at the port of Prek K’dam and travel by coach to Oudong, the fascinating royal capital of Cambodia from 1618 until 1866. During your time here, you’ll call on a monastery for a Buddhist blessing experience with local monks. Afterward, continue to the village of Kampong Tralach for a visit to the Wat Kampong Tralach Pleu pagoda. Then, take an exciting ox-cart ride through the countryside, passing lush rice fields and smiling locals on your way back to your ship. Once aboard, enjoy a relaxing afternoon before dinner.|
|Day 7: Kampong Chhnang||Today brings you an authentic glimpse into the local way of life as you jump aboard a small boat and head into the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang. Known as the ‘Clay Pot Port’, the local people craft pottery under their stilt homes on the river - a delight to watch. Afterwards, you’ll return to your ship and cast off towards Prek K’dam on the Tonle Sap. This evening, reflect on the days that have just gone by as you enjoy your last night on board your luxury river cruise. Meet your fellow travellers for a pre-dinner drink before celebrating the end of your cruise with a Farewell Dinner.|
