The Golden Route showcases the very best of Japan, combining the fascinating and disparate cities of Tokyo and Kyoto with the beautiful countryside of Hakone National Park near Mount Fuji.

Day 1: Arrive Tokyo

Upon arrival at Narita or Haneda Airport, you will be met at the arrival exit point by your driver who will take you to your accommodation in a shared shuttle.

Hotel: Shiba Park Hotel or similar, 3 nights

Day 2: Tokyo

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the highlights of Tokyo. Go by the National Diet Building, Imperial Palace and visit Tsukiji Outer Market, the world’s largest wholesale fish and seafood market with around 400 fish markets, greengrocers and restaurants. Afterwards, drive by Kabukiza Theatre along the way to Tokyo Skytree Town where you can explore Japan’s tallest structure freely (admission fee to Tokyo Skytree observation decks not included). From there, head to the old downtown area of Asakusa for Senso-ji Temple,Tokyo’s oldest temple, and Nakamise Shopping Street. After lunch at a local restaurant, board the Tokyo Bay Cruise. After the cruise, you will then visit Zojo-ji Temple, known for its ties to the Tokugawa Shoguns family. Enjoy taking photos of this temple with Tokyo Tower in the background before visiting Odaiba. While in Odaiba, you will be able to take photos of the beautiful rainbow bridge. Finally, before the tour concludes at Shinjuku St, you will drive by Shibuya, seeing the famed Hachiko dog statue and conjested scramble crossing.

Day 3: Tokyo

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then spend a full free day at your leisure in Tokyo.

Day 4: Tokyo – Mt.Fuji – Hakone

After breakfast, pack a small overnight bag as your main suitcase will be transferred directly from Tokyo to your hotel in Kyoto. Travel by coach up to 2,300 metres on Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji, to see a spectacular view. After lunch at a local restaurant, next is a sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. The view of Mt. Fuji in the background from Lake Ashi is iconic in Hakone. Lastly, take a ride on Mt. Komagatake Ropeway to the peak of Mt. Komagatake for a stunning panoramic view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. After the tour, transfer from Hakone-en to your accommodation in Hakone.

Hotel: Hakone Pax Yoshino or similar

Day 5: Hakone – Kyoto

Have breakfast at your ryokan and then make your own way from Hakone to Odawara Station to board the Bullet Train bound for Kyoto. Upon arrival at Kyoto Station, make your own way to your accommodation. In the afternoon, spend some free time at your leisure.

Hotel: Hotel Intergate Kyoto Shijo Shinmachi or similar, 2 nights

Day 6: Kyoto

Following breakfast, tour the main attractions of Kyoto. Visit Nijo Castle, with its impressive massive stone walls and elaborate gates, and Kinkaku-ji Temple, known as the Golden Pavilion. Stop by Kyoto Imperial Palace, renowned as the pinnacle for its simplicity of Japanese architecture. The afternoon is free at your leisure.

Day 7: Depart Kyoto

Have breakfast at your hotel and spend part of the day exploring Kyoto at your own leisure until it is time to depart to Kansai Airport via shared taxi. Pick up time is about 4 hours prior to the flight.
