Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu, located in the Kathmandu Valley at 1,400 metres in elevation. Here you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu
This morning tour Kathmandu’s historic Durbar Square, including the home of the Living Goddess and the former Royal Palace. Continue on to Swayambhunath, the beautiful hilltop stupa dating back to the 5th century. In the city, see the stupa of Bouddnath, one of the city’s most popular sites with its constant stream of pilgrims, and Pashupatinath, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the subcontinent’s great Shiva sites.
Day 3: Kathmandu – Dhulikhel
The trip starts with a short drive along the scenic Arniko highway. Stop at Banepa and walk to the beautiful temples and bazaars of this well-preserved Newari town. From here we trek after crossing the suspension bridge on Pungmati Khola, on a wide trail meandering along the gentle cultivated slopes of the valley. Take a steeper climb to a temple and our first Himalayan views (weather permitting) before we descend gently for about an hour through terraced hillsides to arrive at our hotel in Dhulikhel.
Day 4: Dhulikhel – Nagarkot
Wake up before dawn to watch sunrise over the Himalaya. After a relaxing morning and breakfast in the open air, we walk along hillsides, through pine forests and into farmland. Climb gradually to Lamichhanegaon village. A gradual climb brings us to the view tower atop Nagarkot ridge, then on to our overnight stop in Nagarkot – famous for its views of the Himalayan range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west and Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east. It is the best close range Himalayan vantage point from anywhere on the Kathmandu Valley rim.
Day 5: Nagarkot – Kathmandu
Wake for sunrise views of the Himalayas. After breakfast drive to Telekot then walk to Changunarayan and its lovely 18th century temple. Afterwards, drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 6: Kathmandu
After breakfast we drive to Muhan Pokhari and commence our walk, through forests to a nunnery. Beyond the monastery, the trail goes steeply uphill through the oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest for another three hours, finally opening to spectacular mountain views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang-Lirung. Take a leisurely downhill walk and drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 7: Depart Kathmandu
After breakfast your journey ends with an airport transfer.
