Pandaw Cruise – Bagan to Mandalay Short Cruise
For those without the time for a longer classic Pandaw cruise join one of our cult short cruises between the two ancient capitals of Burma. We started these in 1998 and they are a great component in a tailored land tour.
You will see the best of river life with stops in the bustling monastery city of Pakokku and the delightful pottery village of Yandabo with its Pandaw School.
Warning! Most people who book the short cruise rebook for a classic longer cruise in a future year.

Day 1: Bagan
Board your Pandaw Cruise ship. After embarkation, followed by lunch we start cruising upstream. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Pakokku by trishaw. Pakkoku is a city of about 100,000 inhabitants located 30 km from Pagan. Main produce are tobacco, cotton, peanuts, Thanatkha (traditional make-up and sun lotion) and textiles.
Day 2: Yandabo
Explore Yandabo village, famous for its production of terracotta pottery from the river bank clay.
This village is well-known as the place where the first Anglo-Burmese war ended by the peace treaty signed in 1826. Morning walking tour and a visit to a pottery workshop to see first-hand the production process. This is a hands-on experience which you are welcome to try.
Here we visit the Pandaw School built with donations from past Pandaw passengers (if no school holidays).
