Day 1: Arrive In Paris, France

Welcome to Paris! At 5:30 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions, and leave the hotel for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant and an orientation drive for a first impression of this magnificent city.

Day 2: Paris

In the morning, an optional excursion is available to the impressive Palace and Garden of Versailles, built by the “Sun King,” Louis XIV. Guided sightseeing features the Opera, Madeleine, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Visit the impressive Courtyard of Les Invalides, a complex of buildings, originally built as a home and hospital for war veterans, which houses various museums as well as the Dome Church, burial place of Napoleon. This evening, why not join an optional cabaret show?

Day 3: Paris – Caen –  Excursion To Normandy Beaches

Arrive in Caen and visit the fascinating Memorial Museum For Peace with its great exhibits and audiovisual show about the Battle of Normandy. Continue to the Normandy Beaches, scene of the Allied Forces’ landing on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Stop in Arromanches and see the Mulberry Harbor. Then, drive to Omaha Beach for a picture stop and visit the American Cemetery and memorial.

Day 4: Caen – Mont St. Michel – St. Malo

Visit the famous Abbey of Mont St. Michel, with a history going back to the 8th century and spectacularly perched on a rocky isle. Look forward to another highlight: in the corsair city of Saint-Malo ride the Little Train, the best way to fully discover the historic walled town with Saint Vincent’s Cathedral and St. Peter’s Gate. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Gulf of Saint-Malo.

Day 5: St. Malo – Esse – Angers – Loire Valley

Drive through Brittany and stop in Esse to visit La Roche-Auxfees, a dolmen dating back to 3500-3000 BC. On your way to the Loire Valley, enjoy an orientation of the beautiful town of Angers. This evening, you may wish to sample traditional cuisine at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Loire Valley – Chenonceau Castle – Bordeaux

Visit the 16th-century castle of Catherine de Medici, lovely Chenonceau, a fairytale castle with a moat and towers. Continue to Bordeaux, and join your Tour Director for a walking tour through this elegant city on the Garonne River. Tonight, savour dinner at the wellknown Brasserie Bordelaise restaurant.

Day 7: Bordeaux – Excursion to St. Emilion

local wines for which the Bordeaux area is famous. Balance of the day is at leisure with the possibility to join an optional excursion to the charming village of Saint Emilion.

Day 8: Bordeaux – Arcachon – Dune Du Pilat – Biarritz

Stop in the seaside town of Arcachon, famous for oyster harvesting, and marvel at the Dune du Pilat, the tallest sand dune in Europe. Arrive in Biarritz, an ancient fishing village. Time to relax and enjoy the beach or browse through the little shops. Your Tour Director will have suggestions how to make the most of your stay.

Day 9: Biarritz Lourdes – Carcassonne

In Lourdes, one of the world’s most famous pilgrimage sites, visit the Grotto where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858. Next is the beautifully preserved, medieval, walled town of Carcassonne.

Day 10: Carcassonne – Aix-En-Provence

This morning, enjoy a leisurely walk by the ancient battlements before continuing to Aix-en-Provence, one of France’s most elegant cities, and birthplace of painter Cezanne, that has always attracted artists from all over the world. Join your Tour Director for a walking tour through the centre of the town and wander through the maze of small streets and along shaded Cours Mirabeau.

Day 11: Aix-En-Provence – Grasse – French Riviera

Arrive in Grasse, and visit the famous Fragonard Usine Historique, where an expert will give a lecture about PERFUME-MAKING. Then, enjoy spectacular views as you drive along the Mediterranean coast and the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Day 12: French Riviera

A full day at leisure on the enchanting Cote d’Azur gives you a chance to visit the beach or browse through the elegant shops. Optional excursions are available to the famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence and to Monte Carlo to try your luck at the Casino!

Day 13: French Riviera – Orange Lyon

Follow in the footsteps of the Romans and arrive in Orange, Visit the Roman Theatre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the best-preserved examples of Roman architecture in France. Next is Lyon, the third largest city of France.

Day 14: Lyon – Dijon

Sit back and relax during a Private Cruise on the Rhone and Saone Rivers with a Local Guide, who will explain the sights. Time to walk through Old Lyon to discover the Traboules, secret, hidden passageways winding their way through buildings and along staircases, with a history going back to the 4th century. Continue to Dijon, capital of Burgundy and famous for mustard. During your orientation, hear about the dukes who ruled over the area, admire the architecture, and learn about toits bourguignons (Burgundian polychrome roofs).

Day 1: Welcome to Paris

Airport transfers depart from Charles de Gaulle Airport for your hotel at 08:30, 11:00 and 13:30. Relax and settle in, or start exploring this great capital, before joining your Travel Director and fellow guests at 17:30 for a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

Journey through the Champagne region, famous for its magnificent core of medieval buildings, appropriately shaped like a champagne cork. Join an expert vintner for a taste of champagne and introduction to how the famous bubbly is made. Continue to the Burgundy region, once a powerful duchy and synonymous with fine wine before ending the day at your hotel in Dijon.

Day 3: Free Time in Dijon

Enjoy the Burgundy capital of Dijon. Its many handsome buildings recall the time when the Dukes of Burgundy were more powerful than the Kings of France. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit the wine capital of Burgundy, Beaune? In the evening, don’t miss the chance of an optional Burgundy wine tasting and traditional dinner in the Premier Cru village of Fixin.

Day 4: Chamonix

Travel towards the Mâconnais and Beaujolais before turning east into the Alps. A scenic symphony awaits you as you ascend into the high Alps and climb towards Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest mountain. Your destination is the fashionable ski resort of Chamonix. In the evening you may choose to try a local pierrade at a local trendy eatery in a traditional chalet. This Optional Experience provides the chance to try a typical regional meal, cooked on a table barbecue using on a hot stone.

Glorious mountain scenery will be yours to enjoy as you travel along a spectacular route, used by the Emperor Napoleon when he returned from his first exile to try to take the throne of France once more. Continue to the French Riviera to reach the elegant resort of Nice. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore as you wish. In the evening, why not walk through old town Nice, ending in Cours Saleya where dinner is at your leisure at one of the many lovely bistros?

Wake up ready to rub shoulders with the jet-set on the glamorous Côte d’Azur. Unlock the secrets of the French perfume industry with a visit to a perfumery, where fragrance experts waft exclusive scents from stoppered bottles. Then enjoy a drive along part of the Grand Prix circuit in Monaco and walk with your Travel Director through the old town to see the Royal Palace and yacht-filled harbour. Your exploration continues as you visit inside Monaco Cathedral, housing the tomb of Princess Grace. The rest of the day is set aside for you to enjoy the French Riviera at your own pace. Perhaps join an Optional Experience to visit to the medieval village of Eze and its hill-top Botanical Gardens for a spectacular view of the coastline?

Day 8: Picturesque Provence

Visit the medieval village of Saint-Paul de Vence, perched high above the Riviera beaches. A walk through its winding streets reveals elegant fountains, vine-covered stone walls and views of mountains and sea. Continue to Aix-en-Provence to see the sumptuous mansions lining the Cours Mirabeau and on to your hotel.

Stop in Avignon to enjoy views of the remaining arches of the Pont d’Avignon and the fortified Papal Palace. Enjoy a wonderful introduction to the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, tasting the difference for yourself as you learn about the grape varieties. Continue your journey to Pont du Gard to see the greatest of Roman remains. This afternoon, enjoy a lesson in the French sport of pétanque. Steady your hand and get ready to test your new found skills as you take part in a game. After, reward yourself and fellow friends with a glass of pastis, a French apéritif.

Day 10: Carcassonne and to Albi

Head to beautiful Arles and trace the history of the town home to Vincent Van Gogh. Cross the fertile Languedoc region, before journeying inland to the fortified town of Carcassonne. Travellers are often amazed at their first sight of this medieval gem, known for its fortress – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a complete set of ramparts and a medieval keep. Travel on to Albi, the birthplace of Toulouse Lautrec. During your orientation with your Travel Director, marvel at iconic sites including the views of Toulouse Lautrec Museum and the famous awe-inspiring cathedral, before spending the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Stop in Cahors, famous for its Black Wine, and see the Pont Valentré. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the open air market – full of fresh, seasonal produce and local delicacies, it’s an experience to delight all of the senses. Travel to Rocamadour and enjoy free time to explore this medieval town perched on a cliff side above the Alzou River and known as a resting place for pilgrims on their way to Spain. Learn about the aromatic ‘black diamonds’ as you enjoy a presentation and a walk the through truffle valley led by a hunting dog. After your search, savour a tasting of a variety of truffles and truffle pastes, paired with a glass of wine. Continue to the beautiful town of Sarlat-la-Canéda, its medieval core blessed with fine historic golden limestone houses.

Start the day with a morning drive into the stunning Valley of the Dordogne to visit Lascaux II where the world-famous prehistoric cave paintings have been faithfully reproduced. Enjoy a delicious Farm-to-Table Dinner, prepared with locally sourced ingredients, and served with wines from the local region.

Travel onwards to immerse yourself in the beautiful city of Paris where on arrival you are free to explore this fascinating city as you wish. As evening descends, the City of Light lives up to its name as the monuments, buildings and bridges are lit up in all their glory.

During your time in Paris your Travel Director introduces you to all the sights including Notre Dame Cathedral and the facades of the Louvre. See the Place de la Concorde and travel down the Champs Elysees to Napolean’s Arc de Triomphe. After dark, the City of Light really lives up to its name when the monuments, buildings and bridges are lit up in all their glory. Explore Paris with Insight Choice. Choose between shopping at Galeries Lafayette and a guided tour around the Right Bank led by the Local Expert. Alternatively, join a local foodie to explore small shops and sample local treats and delicacies. You are in for a memorable evening starting with a delicious Highlight Dinner at the historic restaurant La Coupole, serving delicious French cuisine and wine.

Follow the River Seine to Rouen, capital of Normandy, to admire its ancient cathedral – a masterpiece of the Gothic style and the subject of a series of paintings by Claude Monet. Wander through the narrow streets beneath the Great Clock to the Old Market Square. Here, a superb modern church commemorates the burning of Joan of Arc on this very spot in 1431. Continue to the charming fishing town of Honfleur and to your luxurious hotel located in the chic seaside resort of Deauville.

Following the route of the Rangers and visiting the bunkers and the Rangers Memorial at Pointe du Hoc. Then with a Local Expert, spend a few reflective moments at the American Military Cemetery of Saint-Laurent near Omaha Beach before a visit to the D-Day Museum to see the remnants of the artificial port in the bay of Arromanches. Journey through Bocage country for an exploration of the hilltop abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel with your Local Expert. The abbey stands on an island and is reached by a causeway across the shining sands. Behind the outer ring of defences huddles the small town – it’s one street containing shops, cafes and hotels. Continue along the Emerald Coast to stunning Saint-Malo, situated on the Rance Estuary and one of the most charming places in France. A Local Expert will take you on an exploration of the City of the Corsairs. Walk through the maze of streets of Intra Muros, the walled city, to the cathedral, the burial place of Jacques Cartier and other celebrated voyagers. At your leisure, you can wander around the ramparts of the thick city walls, offering fantastic views over the old town and the bay. By night, the town’s medieval maze of winding streets is abuzz with quaint bars and restaurants. Alternatively, you may wish to join an Optional Experience to Cancale, known throughout France of its oyster beds, for a delicious meal of fresh seafood and other Breton specialties?

Head south to follow the valley of the Loire, passing the moated Angers Castle. Cross the Loire to Saumur, where a local vintner will guide you through tastings of the region’s delicious wines. Day 1: The Smoky Bay of Reykjavík

Welcome to Iceland. On arrival at Reykjavik’s Keflavik Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel on your complimentary Insight shuttle operated by Gray Line. Join your Travel Director and travel companions at 18:15 for a Welcome Drink served with canapés.

Head east to visit Iceland’s newest geothermal and electric power station at Hellisheiðavirkjun. Then travel on to the ancient bishopric of Skalholt and see the historic church set in a remote location amid magnificent natural scenery. Continue to the hot springs at Geysir and the mighty Gullfoss waterfalls, the Icelandic equivalent of Niagara Falls. In the afternoon visit the majestic south coast waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before continuing to your hotel in Vik.

Travel along the southern coast of Iceland, beside the black sand beaches and basalt rock formations. The highlight of the day is the National Park at Skaftafell where you will see the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. Travel on to the luminous blue icebergs of Lake Jökulsárlón, the dramatic setting of scenes in two James Bond films. Arrive in the small harbour town of Höfn, an active lobster fishing hub. Your Travel Director takes you on a short orientation. Dine at your hotel’s restaurant tonight and experience what the local produce has to offer.

Explore yet another face of Iceland as you drive through narrow fjords surrounded by steep cliffs past small fishing villages. Catch a glimpse of Friar island, once the home of Gaelic monks settling down before the arrival of the Vikings. Upon arriving to Egilsstaðir you may wish to visit Iceland’s first and only geothermal floating pools.

Journey through the sand desert of Möðrudalur to see Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Continue on to the beautiful Lake Mývatn. This area offers a wide spectrum of geological formations and the concentrated geothermal activity produces mud pools and spectacular coloured deposits. Continue to Akureyri, enjoy an orientation of Akureyri, the capital of northern Iceland, first established as a trading centre in 1602. Evening to relax or explore at your leisure.

Travel past mountains, waterfalls and green coastal regions to Hvammstangi. Later, continue on to the south-west coast of Borgarnes. Perhaps embark on an optional whale watching experience? (available during whale season).

Travel along the Snæfellsnes Peninsula to Snæfellsjökull National Park known as the Jewel of West Iceland and home to the country’s most famous volcano. See the magnificent Snæfellsjökull glacier surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty. On route, admire the impressive landscapes of Búðir offering a mixture of sandy hills, black lava fields and a yellow beach. Next, take a stroll along the sea cliffs of Arnastapi with it’s unique columnar rock formations while taking in the beautiful scenery.

Day 8: Thingvellir, Blue Lagoon and on to Reykjavík

Journey south to Thingvellir, where the first meeting of the Icelandic parliament was held in A.D. 930. This remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site lies on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge line where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. On arrival in Reykjavík, enjoy an orientation of the city with a Local Expert. See the Old Harbour, National Museum, the Hallgrim church and Höfði House. Pass Althingishusid, Reykjavik’s House of Parliament, and continue to the Hallgrímskirkja Church which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. Visit Iceland’s world-famous Blue Lagoon, where you join your newfound friends and toast to your Icelandic holiday with a drink. Enjoy relaxing in the mineral-rich geothermal waters, surrounded by lava fields and snowcapped mountains. The Lagoon is a wonder of nature and offers a unique experience for both body and soul. This evening, delight in a delicious Celebration Dinner at a local restaurant where you round off your journey through one of the world’s most naturally beautiful places.

Day 3: Palermo – Erice – Trapani – Marsala

Two Sicilian treats are on the agenda today: First, visit the medieval hilltop town of Erice, reached by Cable Car. Situated about 2,500 feet above sea level, it immediately impresses with its defensive walls and castle, affording breathtaking views over the Gulf of Trapani and Egadi islands. On clear days, see all the way to the African coast. Next, visit enchanting Trapani with a Local Guide. Here, learn all about the Renaissance master at the Museum dedicated to his life and many areas of interest from painting, sculpting, and inventing, to anatomy, music, and cartography! Later, visit a Butchery in a local village, followed by a generous tasting of cold cuts.

Day 3: Montecatini – Excursion to the Chianti Valley

Cradled between the provinces of Florence and Siena, the Chianti Valley is the heart of Old Tuscany, and has been hailed for its exceptional wines since the 13th century. Your journey today takes you to Greve, with time to visit the village and to enjoy lunch at a charming wine shop. Complete the day with the visit of a Historic Tuscan Estate known for its Chianti wine production.

Day 4: Montecatini

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Montecatini. Maybe go for a walk in the Parco delle Terme with its tall shady trees. Most of the afternoon is dedicated to the italian cooking lesson at a rustic farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside. Once you arrive at the farm, enjoy a welcome drink, explore the orchard to pick some fresh ingredients, learn about italy’s most famous delicacies, and then roll up your sleeves for a fun, hands-on Cooking Experience. Day 5: Montecatini – Excursion to Lucca

Visit Lucca, a stunning showcase of medieval architecture and layer upon layer of rich history and culture. Marvel at the beautiful art and tapestry collections at the baroque Palazzo Mansi National Museum, then take a guided walking tour around the Old Town with its fine, intact Renaissance-era wall, cobblestone streets, and cafe-lined piazzas. A lively Cafe-Crawl snack brunch is included, followed by a main course at a local restaurant. Then, your Local Guide will introduce you to the stunning ornamental gardens and grand arched ceilings of Palazzo Pfanner.

Day 6: Montecatini – Excursion to Bolgheri

Travel through the vineyarddotted countryside and along cypress-lined Viale dei Cipressi for your grand entrance into enchanting Bolgheri. With its red-brick castle and atmospheric Old Town, it’s not hard to imagine that Bolgheri jumped right off the pages of a storybook. There’s time here to visit one of the Wine Cellars that produce Bolgheri’s celebrated Super Tuscan reds. First created in the 1980s, many wine experts believe these now rival French Bordeaux. Day 3: Rome – Naples – Capri

Naples is the capital of espresso coffee and pizza, among many other delicacies. This morning you’ll have the opportunity to see the main, highlights, including a stop to visit the St. Clair Monastery Cloister with a Local Guide. After the sightseeing tour, enjoy Pizza Lunch in a restaurant. Later, take a short ferry ride to Capri, the legendary island of glitz and glamor.

Day 4: Capri

Enjoy free time to relax, discover this spectacular island on your own. On the optional island tour, focus on all the main sights and enjoy a light street food lunch of local specialties, as well as a limoncello tasting session. Day 5: Capri – Sorrento Area

Take the Ferry to Sorrento. Few places in the world match the very special charm of Sorrento. This picturesque resort overlooking the Bay of Naples boasts a marvellous climate, beautiful views, trendy shops and boutiques, interesting museums, and a vibrant nightlife. This morning, spend some time learning about Gelato. There will be a demonstration on how gelato and sorbet are prepared, and some hints on how to make it at home. You will, of course, have the opportunity to taste some of the many flavours available in the shop. This evening, we suggest an optional dinner at a local farm, featuring dishes prepared with traditional ingredients.

Day 2: Rome Sightseeing – Montecatini

Your ‘Local Specialist’ will reveal the history of Renaissance Florence during your walking tour. View the magnificent Duomo and visit Piazza della Signoria. This is a legacy of the 16th-century decree which mandated that only jewellers and goldsmiths be allowed to ply their trade on the bridge. Later, learn about the quality and workmanship of two of this city’s historic industries at demonstrations of Florentine leathercraft and 18-carat gold.

Day 5: Pisa and Vinci Excursion

Journey to Pisa where we join a ‘Local Specialist’ to view the famous Leaning Tower, the finely sculpted marble Cathedral and the ornate Baptistery, said to be the largest in Italy. We continue through Tuscany, arriving in Vinci where we’ll ‘Dive Into Culture’ at Museo Leonardiano and gain a deeper understanding of the life of this talented master. Tonight ‘Connect With Locals’ at the Agriturismo Borgo Vigna Vecchia where you’ll enjoy an exclusive ‘Be My Guest’ dinner surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.

Day 6: Siena and San Gimignano Excursion

Saunter through the beautifully preserved medieval city of Siena to see the 13th-century marble Cathedral and the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo which hosts the biannual Palio horse race. We venture to the walled medieval town of San Gimignano, renowned for its towers. Enjoy some free time strolling through its narrow lanes and shopping for locally-produced delicacies and hand-painted Tuscan pottery – the alluring aromas of pecorino and cured meats can be found around every turn.

Day 7: Tuscan Lifestyle Experience

Feast your eyes on the vibrant colours and busy stalls heaving with fresh produce at a local food market where you will join a ‘Local Specialist’ professional chef for a tasty introduction to Tuscan cuisine. Learn how to cook like only an Italian mamma can, selecting your fresh produce from the market and preparing lunch which you will enjoy with a delicious glass of local wine. Day 8: Lake Maggiore – Verona – Venice Area

Travel across the Po River plain, and stop in the romantic city of Verona for some time at leisure, marvelling at the Roman Arena, shopping, or tasting some of the excellent local wines. Continue to the Venice area.

Day 9: Venice

Venice is more like a romantic film set than a real-life city, with its crisscrossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and piazzas. The included orientation starts with a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square, and is followed by time at leisure and a chance to watch Venetian Glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. Don’t miss out on the optional gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you.

Day 10: Venice Area – Ravenna – Assisi – Assisi Area

Enjoy an interesting drive southward right across the Po Delta to Ravenna, renowned for its treasure of Byzantine mosaics, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Continue to Assisi, enclosed by ramparts and little changed since the Middle Ages. This is the town of the deeply mystical and poetic St. Francis. See the Basilica Of St. Francis with its famous frescoes by Giotto, with history brought to life by a Local Guide. Overnight in the beautiful area of Assisi, in the heart of Umbria.

Day 11: Assisi Area Pompeii – Sorrento Area

Travel to Pompeii, where time stopped for the rich, aristocratic town with the terrible eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. On the included guided visit, see the remains of luxurious villas, temples, theatre, and forum. Carry on to Sorrento, set on a plateau above the waters of the Bay of Naples. Wander the winding streets lined with shops and stalls, and sit with a glass of wine, absorbing the easy-going lifestyle of this charming resort.

Day 12: Sorrento Area – Boat trip to Capri

Day 1: Arrive In Rome, Italy

Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore italy’s ancient capital with the help of the CosmosGO app. This evening, meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2: Rome – Siena – Tuscan Hills

This morning, journey to Siena, rightly considered the jewel of Tuscany. The Piazza del Campo is quite unique in shape and setting, and famous all over the world for the medieval-style Palio horse-racing event. Enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside with its hillside towns and villages.

Day 3: Tuscan Countryside

Spend the day at leisure or take advantage of today’s optional excursion to San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, two of italy’s best-preserved medieval towns. Admire their towers and the countryside dotted with vineyards and olive trees.

Day 4: Tuscan Countryside – Florence – Bologna Area

Arrive in Florence, the “Cradle of the Renaissance.” Admire the city’s timeless beauty during the included walking tour with a Local Guide. Continue to the Bologna area.

Day 5: Bologna Area – Verona – Venice Area

Spend some time visiting Bologna, italy’s oldest university city this morning, then head for the Venice area. Stop in Verona to visit the romantic city of Shakespearian plays. You’ll have time for a stroll in the centre to see the Roman Arena.

Day 6: Venice

Venice is a city of unparalleled beauty and a feast of wonderful sights. View the delightful crisscrossing canals, gondolas, water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and piazzas. The included orientation, starts with a Boat Ride to St. Mark’s Square, followed by time at leisure and a visit to a typical Venetian Glassblowing Workshop. A variety of optional excursions is available.

Day 7: Venice Area – Ravenna – San Marino

Travel to Ravenna, a city that preserves the richest heritage of Byzantine mosaics dating from the 5th century AD. After a stop here, continue to the tiny hilltop Republic of San Marino, one of the smallest countries in the world.

Day 8: San Marino – Urbino – Gubbio – Assisi Area

First to Urbino to see its magnificent Ducal Palace towering over the town, then on to the verdant Umbria region to visit medieval Gubbio, where the superb view of the rooftops of the town from the Consul’s Palace is a must. Continue on to Foligno.

Day 9: Assisi Area – Sorrento Area

Start the day in Assisi with a guided tour of the town, including the Basilica Of St. Francis with its famous paintings by Giotto dating back to the 1300s. Cross the Apennines to the shores of the Mediterranean for three overnights in the picturesque Sorrento area.

Day 10: Sorrento Area – Excursion To Capri

Today, cross the crystal-blue waters to Capri. This legendary island, surrounded by rose-tinted rocks, has incredibly beautiful coves of translucent blues and greens. The town, with its pretty piazzetta, maze of streets, fashionable boutiques, and cozy restaurants, is a mecca for the jet set. An optional tour takes you around the island with its steep roads and panoramic views. Return to the Sorrento Area for an overnight.

Spend the day relaxing in the sun, explore on your own, or join an optional excursion to discover the unique beauty of Positano.

Day 12: Sorrento Area – Pompeii – Naples – Rome

Leave the Sorrentine Peninsula to discover one of the most intriguing archaeological sites in the world: Pompeii. This village was caught by surprise by the Vesuvius volcanic eruption in 79 AD, and excavations have uncovered a snapshot of ordinary Roman life. Back to the present, you’ll enjoy an orientation drive of culture-rich Naples before arriving in Rome.

Day 13: Rome

Steeped in history, Rome is vibrantly alive and exciting, and absolutely unique. included sightseeing with a Local Guide starts with St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. Other highlights are the iconic Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built and Circus Maximus. Consider an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, world famous for Michelangelo’s impressive fresco of The Last Judgment.
