Wines of Uruguay

Due to its excellent geographic location, Uruguay has become a producer of international recognized wines. Produced from the Tannat a rare grape originally from France and after 130 years of adaptation, the tannat vines have grown to be typical of Uruguay.

Day 1: Arrive Montevideo

Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. During your stay at My Suites Boutique Hotel & Wine Bar you will have the opportunity to enjoy wine tasting with the sommelier in the Wine Bar.

Day 2: Montevideo

Today explore the city that was founded in 1726. Its squares, avenues and beaches, plus its architecture, history and iconic landmarks make it an interesting city to explore. Visit Independence Square, the Old Town with a view of the bay, the Legislative Palace, Battle Park, with its monument to the Carreta, and Centario Stadium before finishing at the beautiful long promenade of the city.

Day 3: Montevideo

Visit two of the most important wineries in Uruguay. Start with a visit to Juanico Winery located north of the city and the leaders of the Uruguayan wine industry. Enjoy a tour of the winery including the modern plant and cellars followed by a wine tasting session. Continue onto the Bodega Bouza Boutique Winery, built in 1942 as a small farm and refurbished in 2002. Explore the vintage car collection and a 1929 old railcar before touring the vineyard and cellar. Enjoy wine tasting with lunch.

Day 4: Depart Montevideo

Transfer to the airport or ferry terminal for your onward journey.

Day 2: Colonia

This morning enjoy a walking tour of this picturesque colonial town. Visit the historic centre founded in 1680 by the Portugese. The town is famous for its cobbled streets and colourful houses.

Day 3: Colonia - San Jose

Travel by road to San Jose for your estancia experience. The estancia offers a wide range of activities including horseback riding carriage rides and guided walks through the vineyards.

Day 4: San Jose - Montevideo

This morning you will have more time to enjoy the estancia before travelling onto Montevideo. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5: Montevideo

Experience a sightseeing tour of the capital that was founded in 1726. See some of the city's famous parks and monuments including Plaza de Inpendencia, the art deco and neoclassical architecture around Cuidad Vieja (Old Town) and enjoy a typical asado lunch at Port Market.

Day 6: Montevideo - Punta Del Este

Today travel to Punta del Este. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 7: Punta Del Este

Explore this resort town, spend time at Playa Brava, stroll down Gorlero Avenue and conclude at famous Casa Pueblo, an astounding villa and art gallery offering stunning views of the coastline.

Day 8: Punta del Este - Montevideo

Return to Montevideo where your journey ends.
